ATHENS — Georgia’s football team Thursday held its next-to-last practice before Saturday’s G-Day game. And judging from the increased number of players wearing green non-contact jerseys, spring practice is ending with a flurry of injuries.
Among the new players in green Thursday: inside linebackers Richard Samuel and Marcus Dowtin, offensive lineman Chris Davis and defensive lineman Abry Jones.
Coach Mark Richt indicated after practice that none of the injuries are serious.
Davis’ hip is bothering him, Richt said, but “it’s nothing that is long-term serious.” As for Samuel, he is doubtful for G-Day, said Richt, who could not recall the specific injury. Dowtin and Jones should be able to practice Friday and play Saturday, Richt said.
On the offensive line, Chris Burnette worked at first-team right guard Thursday in Davis’ place.
Tailback Caleb King missed a fourth consecutive practice, still bothered by a strained knee. King is not expected to play Saturday, but his injury is not a long-term concern, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. King’s absence from practice has been “precautionary,” Bobo said.
Wide receiver Marlon Brown, who had been limited by a shoulder injury for almost two weeks, participated fully in Thursday’s practice and is expected to play Saturday.
One other note: Bobo said he hopes to have a quarterback depth chart a week or so after G-Day. “We’ll go back and revisit everything and talk about where we want to stack ‘em up,” he said.

Coach Richt brought the conditioning coach from FSU with him to Athens. This is the same guy who built quite a record in Tallahassee in the ’90s.
The last time I looked, those guys hit pretty hard and things happen. Y’all act like we’re the only team with injuries.
Let's have a show of hands here and then

It just looks like they are playing table tennis with Richard Samuel. It seems like a run away train wreck with them moving him back and forth and injuries for him and some of the running backs. Hopefully we will not need debth at running back in the future. King seems vulnerable to injuries. Samuel will end up confused, under used and through with eligibility at 20 years old if they are not careful. Hopefully he will work out at LB. What mistake by the coaches choice.

Zulu,
Agree that Jeff Owens was a very strong player and developed that well at UGA, but his conditioning was flat out terrible. It will end up costing him millions in the upcoming draft. He could have been so much better if his diet and conditioning were even “solid”. Imagine what they could have been if his diet and conditioning were excellent!
In the exchange between Pollack and Owens that was public… Owens seemed to have no idea that proper nutrition was important for an elite athlete. He seemed shocked that eating whatever you want and having a spare tire weren’t OK, after all he is a lineman.
I wouldn’t use Owens as the poster child for conditioning at UGA despite the fact that he was very strong.

GTBaby,
Our “non-real” football team ruined your season last year and had beaten you 8 of the last 9 years. So, what does that say about your team. I will tell you. You’re a joke.

All these Dawg haters on here really just blow me away. It’s mind boggling to me, to think someone actually spends their time, on a rival team’s blog, just so they can throw cheap shots and say idotic things that show their stupidity. This “GTBABY” person is ribbing on the Dwags, because they lost to “SEC conference rivals”, as if we’re getting beat by some patsy team (like, huh, Wofford?) and neglects to mention the obviuos… WE BEAT YOU, DUDE !!! 30-24 IN YOUR HOUSE !!! FOR WIN # 8 IN THE LAST NINE YEARS !!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! Get a life… and a team… holy cow.

Huh, 8 wins last year. Jeez. See what I mean, man? When you open your mouth (or, in this case, peck on your keyboard) its like you’re screaming ” HEY, LOOK AT ME EVERYBODY… I’M AN IDOIT !!! I’ll be glad when spring break is over, so your back in middle school and we don’t have to read your crap anymore.

GTBaby,
I think UGA will be better this year than last. I can tell you this. If UGA played and that joke of a conference you call the ACC, we would have won it last year with her worst team in 10 years. After all, we beat the best team in it–your spread option, Orc-loving, foam-weapon-building GT. Here’s the thing. I am not on a UF blog telling them they are no good. Why? B/c they have owned us for the last 10 years and to do so would be idiotic. By analogy, you’re a complete idiot.
