From Louisiana-Lafayette to Oregon: list of UGA’s future non-conference opponents

UGA provided a list this morning of  future scheduled non-conference football games (other than the obvious  annual games against Georgia Tech).  All of these games have been previously reported on an individual basis, but here they are  in one place, with the amount of money the visiting team  will receive from the home team  in each case:

Sept. 4, 2010: University of Louisiana Lafayette, Athens ($875,000)

Oct. 2, 2010: University of Colorado, Boulder ($825,000)

Nov. 6, 2010:  Idaho State University, Athens ($525,000)

Sept. 3, 2011: University of Louisville, Athens ($250,000)

Sept. 17, 2011: Coastal Carolina, Athens ($475,000)

Nov. 5, 2011: New Mexico State University, Athens ($925,000)

Sept. 15, 2012: University of Louisville, Louisville ($250,000)

Aug. 31, 2013: University of North Texas, Athens ($975,000)

Date TBA, 2013: Appalachian State University, Athens ($325,000)

Date TBA, 2013: Clemson University, Clemson ($300,000)

Date TBA, 2014: Clemson University, Athens ($300,000)

Sept. 5, 2015: University of Oregon, Eugene ($350,000)

Sept. 10, 2016: University of Oregon, Athens ($350,000)

So what do you think about this list? Which games (or trips) particularly appeal to you?

Eugene vs the Ducks. Lots of UGA alum friends that live in Portland, OR now. Traveling that far to see the Dawgs and hang out with old friends will be so much fun.

Outside of Oregon, that schedule is embarrassing.

I’m going to the game in Eugene in 2015 if I have to hitch hike. Powell’s Books, here I come.

Oregon looks about the best opponent other than Colorado. Louisville has been good in the past. Might be good to play the easy teams first and ease into the good ones. Can make and break a season.

I thought UGA and Clemson were going to renew their rivalry in the next few years.

North Texas and Univ of Louisian Lafayette getting 975k when they were able to get Oregon for 350K and Louisville for 250. No wonder there is a budget problem

Watch out for App State! The reason North Texas and Univ. of Louisiana Lafayette are getting more money if because UGA set up a home & home schedule with Oregon and Louisville, so each school will get profits from a home game while the other schools are basically getting paid to get their teeth kicked in. The lone lower division school that isn’t getting paid highly is App State. To me that seems to show there is a certain level of respect given to App State, since not many Big Boy schools are lining up to pay App State big bucks to come into their place and give them a possible challenge unlike North Texas, New Mexico State, etc.

Bama is going to play Ga. State this fall, yes thats right, Ga. State. A program that doesn’t exist right now is going up against the defending national champs. I applaud UGA for at least playing all teams that exist at this moment. And back when UGA scheduled Louisville, Petrino was there and they were a national contender. Colorado won the big 12 back in 03 or 04, they have no excuse to suck, they just do, not UGA’s fault. App. State is a great team, with multiple national championships, who cares what level they are on. And JB is right, if UF and Bama can do it, go for it.

@tomtennesson – When teams grant “return” games, or they play each other at least once on each home field, then the cost of the game is usually decreased for each team. So, single games against teams that are home only affairs, will cost more. It’s the same for all teams.

I GURANTEE you that in the last 20 years you won’t find more than 4 seasons where UGA had a tougher OOC than Florida.

Congrats on playing a tougher one in 2009, don’t act though that that is the case in most seasons…..

UGA was one of the only teams to take on Boise State when no one else wanted to play them, same with Okie State and Arizona State. We had a loaded non-con schedule the past few years, so don’t go touting a couple of ASheShe teams as a big deal, we play one every year, and beat them 9 out of every 10, and they were ASheShe Champs. Remember, Bama, GEORGIA STATE, you guys are a joke.

JB is totally right. UF and Bama’s out of conference schedules were an absolute joke last year. Meanwhile, the dogs had to play OK ST and AZ ST. I do not see why UGA should load their out of conference schedule with strong teams from other conferences when other SEC teams do not do the same.

Bama’s game with Georgia State is a favor to Bill Curry. BAMA has some stong out of conference opponents in the years to come….PSU, GT, etc. RTR

Oregon is the most appealing team to me. However, When UGA scheduled Louisvilee they were a top 10 team. It’s not our fault that they have went in the toilet since then.

Hmmm…guess we want be confused with having the most difficult schedule in any year for the next decade. I can’t imagine any other BCS team with a weaker out of conference schedule. And I’m a Dawg fan….wonder what the rest of the nation will think. Look’s like we have figured out our only chance of a national BCS title is to play a cupcake schedule and get by UF and we are in. We likely end up like Auburn…Undefeated and left out of the BCS title game because SOS will be very WEAK. We are hiding from quality teams instead of preparing to play. Richt needs to go!

Bama likes to get on here and claim to be the best…..They ought to never play the likes of Duke, San Jose St and Georgia State. The need to expose the SEC out west ( as our best they say) and play UCLA, Oregon, Washington, etc……….If I’m a Bama fan, if you’ll be honest, you are not happy with that OOC schedule. Who wants to waste a beautiful Saturday watching Bama feast on Duke. I bet their fans don’t.

Tech fans ought to heed UGA’s schedule. We are ramping up our schedule to compete with schools from their league, I guess. Louisville, App State and NE.S.W. Central LA University are all the same, when compared to tech.

Yes …………30-24 and Dwyer got 33 vs UGA and Tech got 30 in first half vs Iowa. Urange was only the SECOND MAJOR BOWL for tech since 1967 …………sad.

Louisville is intriguing with the new arrival of Charlie Strong. Ap State is usually very good Colorado is at least a Big 12 school. Home and Home with Oregon is very cool.

Looks like the dial a wins are costing a lot more these days. I’m still completely for abolishing the ability to play FCS schools in anyones schedule.

FBS teams should be playing FBS teams…. just pick your favorite FCS and send them a 900K check so their womens hockey team can buy skates.

SouthsideDawg, I agree we should play them every year. Probably thinking is though with playing in the SEC East + LSU and FSU every season is tough enough plus the AD thinks they need 7 home games each year to make budget. Don’t agree, but that is the line he sells.

Spurrier did play Miami in the 2000 Sugar Bowl

It’s a 2 way street, Paul Dee UM AD has said he’s not in favor of playing UF every year.

They are back on the schedule in 2013.

Why don’t UGA fans stop complaining who Bama and UF plays and actually win all your games, beating UF and Bama, and then you won’t have something so petty to cry about.

I’m still waiting for someone to tell me the 5 or more seasons in the last 20 that UGA has had a tougher OOC schedule than Florida. Kinda makes your arguement weak and silly.

It’s no weaker than anybody else’s non-conference schedule. Florida plays Miami (OH) App St. and S. Fla next year. Please argue that schedule is better. In 09 they played Charleston Southern, FIU (whom I believe didn’t win a game a couple of years ago), and Troy and everyone heralded them as the best team in the country. Please argue that schedule is tougher.

That’s what I thought JB. That’s all ya got. Typical bulldog hypocrisy. Too bad you don’t have a win over UF from 2009 to talk about. Then maybe you wouldn’t embarrass yourself so much with your all bark no bite.
