Colt McCoy had big praise for UGA’s Aaron Murray
I know you don’t need any convincing that Georgia’s quarterback competition will be a hugely interesting story line of spring football practice. But, just for the record, ESPN’s Joe Schad includes it as one of his Top 10 Story Lines to Watch in spring football nationally.
To be precise, it comes in at No. 5 on Schad’s list posted today on ESPN.com:
5. Georgia Quarterback Competition: (Georgia begins March 4)
Former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy once told me Georgia redshirt freshman Aaron Murray was one of the most impressive players he’s ever seen. Murray and classmate Zach Mettenberger each have a shot to beat out athletic junior Logan Gray. Murray is a complete prospect. Mettenberger is a pocket-passer with a howitzer arm.
So McCoy told Schad that Murray is one of the most impressive players he’s ever seen. That sort of fuels the anticipation for G-Day, doesn’t it?
Schad’s No. 1 story line to watch in spring football, by the way: Florida QB John Brantley replacing Tim Tebow.

how2fish didn’t mean he didn’t have skills but not on the level of Bradford, McCoy and even Stafford for that matter. Stafford had twice the skills of Tebow but his lack of desire to win at all cost was never there and hey I’m not bashing Tebow but I’m glad he’s gone

I have done some homework here through the years and believe Yellow Fuzz’s real name is Wolley Zzuf. He walked on as an OL under Gailey but never made it past the practice squad (to the best of my knowledge). I think I saw him tailgating at the 2008 game. If so he is a big freckle face (baby face) kid with a scraggly goat tee (more red than yellow). I think he played hs ball in Tallahassee and dates a girl who attends UGA from the town of Doe Run, Georgia. I could be wrong but have saved a lot of what he has written and believe this is true.

Please quit with the CMR isn’t tough enough or CMR doesn’t win enough or the endlessd dribble which has no basis in fact. Fact: CMR is the winningest coach in the SEC during his tenure and is the winningest coach in UGA history by percentage. UGA will win the SEC again in the next two years.

Now that I am in the real world? I was a Marine for 9 years so I would say ive done my time in the real world. Since I am on a blog about the school’s football team, that I actually attended, yes I am bragging about being a UGA Grad! It has served me well and I love my house in the Highlands. brucemac, I know his stats, you guys have tham memorized, but that is not what I was talking about. I was referring to national championships, something I can remember, but I am sure most of the unknowledgable puppy bloggers know nothing about, except by heresay. The fact is that UGA won the last SEC title that did not result in a NC game, and IF/WHEN they win another, I am sure it will have the same results. The UGA program just does not rate as highly as others, EVEN THOUGH CMR HAS A VERY GOOD RECORD. That is just the way it is.

My six figure job here in ATL begs to differ but whatever helps you sleep at night. It must suck to have a football team so bad that the only thing you talk about is UGA. I guess its true that the one thing Tech Fans and Georgia fans have in common is that we are both obsessed with them Dawgs! Brantley was a very good HS QB I believe he was in 2B…these ratings go by the schools population…JAX Boles I believe is Div 2B and they aren’t too shabby…Christian Green and Chaze Green were also from Div 2B and both were big time recruits…Daryl Jackson, Kenny Kelly and Jimmie Giles were all from a Div 2B school, so that should have no bearing on his abilities…he also had a full ride to Texas, but backed out and went to Florida, so he’s no slouch…now that being said Florida wanted Murray realllll bad, even though they had Brantley, so either they thought that Brantley might be suspect, or they just wanted Murray to sit for two years and take over…who knows?
For McCoy to say what he did about Murray is saying a whole bunch…this was stated after McCoy had seen Barkley, Gilbert, Savage, Met, etc…also, keep in mind that Murray was a “ball boy” at the Elite 11 between his soph and junior year and won the jersey before ever starting as a QB at Plant…Murray replaced an all-American at QB (Marve) who broke all of Tebow’s records…Murray also surpassed Stephen Garcia’s county TD record in less than two seasons (remember he broke his leg and hardly ever played the second half of games…unless the DAWGS have somehow ruined him, then you guys will have the premier QB in the nation for the next 4 years

winning is contagious, thus the quality of player that goes to Tech goes up…better athletes will arrive w/ QB’s that fit that particular skill set needed to run their plays…don’t know what the big deal is that the DAWGS beat Tech, aren’t they supposed to beat Tech??? The real story is when they play the DAWGS tough/struggle, or as two seasons back get beaten by a far superior team (a few NFL’rs were on that team)…but isn’t it fun to state your points and banter back and forth…

I just noticed that Rivals has listed the TOP 10 QB performances since the Nike QB Camps started. It is exciting to see that Aaron Murray came in at #2 on the list … right behind Matthew Stafford. Could UGA be on verge of turning out another #1 draft pict in 4 years? Let’s hope so!
