Colt McCoy had big praise for UGA’s Aaron Murray
I know you don’t need any convincing that Georgia’s quarterback competition will be a hugely interesting story line of spring football practice. But, just for the record, ESPN’s Joe Schad includes it as one of his Top 10 Story Lines to Watch in spring football nationally.
To be precise, it comes in at No. 5 on Schad’s list posted today on ESPN.com:
5. Georgia Quarterback Competition: (Georgia begins March 4)
Former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy once told me Georgia redshirt freshman Aaron Murray was one of the most impressive players he’s ever seen. Murray and classmate Zach Mettenberger each have a shot to beat out athletic junior Logan Gray. Murray is a complete prospect. Mettenberger is a pocket-passer with a howitzer arm.
So McCoy told Schad that Murray is one of the most impressive players he’s ever seen. That sort of fuels the anticipation for G-Day, doesn’t it?
Schad’s No. 1 story line to watch in spring football, by the way: Florida QB John Brantley replacing Tim Tebow.

All right UGA fans, the rest of us SEC fans give up, you’re going to win it all this year, no doubt.
Your quarterback, whoever it is, will be All-America, even though he has NEVER TAKEN A SNAP in college.
Your OC will suddenly, this year, figure out how to put together consistently good game plans. Bobo becomes the Nat’l Ass’t Coach of the Year.
Instead of having the WORST TURNOVER RATIO in college football you will suddenly have the BEST.
Instead of leading the league in dumb-a$$ PENALTIES you will now have the fewest.
Your DEFENSE, with virtually all new starters and a new DC will be top 10.
Your Head Coach, will devise a new motivational ploy each week, including the end zone celebrations, blackouts, Grambling helmets to achieve that important psychological edge.
Yeah, the rest of us are all fighting for second. 2010 IS YOUR YEAR UGA, JUST LIKE ALWAYS.

Richt has wasted enough talent through the years to win several championships, because he does not coach his players up. EVERY YEAR you lose 1 or 2 games to lesser teams that has cost you dearly. The good, well coached teams like Florida, Alabama, and until recently LSU have parlayed their talent into 5 national championships this past decade, whils UGA struggles to beat Spurrier, Brooks, and the middle of the road teams even though their talent level is far superior to those teams. Example – 2006 , if you beat an inferior Spurrier team, your championship dream might have been realized. But….

UGA fans are usually pretty excited about the upcoming season. That is all that UGA fans are saying ……..we are pumped for all the reasons listed here. This is called being a fan/alum.
I mean what do MSU, and KY, or 8/9 of the Big 10, most of the Pac 12, ALL of the Big East and most if not ALL of the ACC look forward to?? Hmm? UGA at least has reason to be excited:
Talented but yes, green QBs- 3 that are considered quality. Two KNOWN running backs, plus a couple r backs that will be excellent back ups, 2 VERY FINE full backs ( s ) and a quality and DEEP O line, DEEP and excellent wide outs, excellent tight ends ( 3 ) with one more to emerge
( Fred Lynn ) and a quality d line and quality,speed in the d backfield plus, the best combo kicking game in USA. We also made solid additions to the D staff and this FRESHNESS will be a difference maker. Attitude adjustment time is another key reason for UGA fans to be pumped.

I don’t know what’s funnier, some of the comments I read here about a kid whose never played a down of college ball or that article the other day about UGA being national champs in 2011! It’s Ok and all good to be optimistic and enthusiastic about the future of your team, but to make staements that defy reality… I know that if Florida was coming off a 5 loss season with a brand new QB, I’d be at least cautiously optimistic!
