Colt McCoy had big praise for UGA’s Aaron Murray

I know you don’t need any convincing that Georgia’s quarterback competition will be a hugely interesting story line of spring football practice. But, just for the record, ESPN’s Joe Schad includes it as one of his Top 10 Story Lines to Watch in spring football nationally.

To be precise, it comes in at No. 5 on Schad’s list posted today on ESPN.com:

5. Georgia Quarterback Competition: (Georgia begins March 4)

Former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy once told me Georgia redshirt freshman Aaron Murray was one of the most impressive players he’s ever seen. Murray and classmate Zach Mettenberger each have a shot to beat out athletic junior Logan Gray. Murray is a complete prospect. Mettenberger is a pocket-passer with a howitzer arm.

So McCoy told Schad that Murray is one of the most impressive players he’s ever seen. That sort of fuels the anticipation for G-Day, doesn’t it?

Schad’s No. 1 story line to watch in spring football,  by the way: Florida QB John Brantley replacing Tim Tebow.

An interview with Aaron Murray.

List of UGA players who will be sidelined or limited in spring practice.

UGA ranks ahead of UNC — in basketball, of all things.

Why is Urban Meyer 0-2 Aginst Auburn?

Hey Florida and Bama Fans:

If you really think UGA is so bad, why do you post on this blog?

What are you afraid of IF UGA is no threat to your team?

Florida fans are in denial about Meyer:

He goes 5-3 in the SEC practically every other year, 2 out of 5 years so far.

GatorNation,

you are, quite simply, a moron.

Aaron Murray went to UGA because he wants a future in the NFL, which is something that Florida cannot give him (hmmm, go to a school that produced the #1 pick in the NFL draft or the school the produced a Heisman QB who probably won’t ever take a snap in the NFL?). He wasn’t scared of John Brantley. If he was scared of competition, he wouldn’t have chosen UGA, because Zach Mettenberger (another top 10 QB prospect) had already committed to the Dawgs.

I also love how you act like Murray would have been a depth QB for the Gators. You clearly are either incapable of holding an unbiased opinion, or again, a moron. I’m going with the latter.

GatorNation,

Thanks man. You’re right. It was an incredible feeling to win the bcs title, a feeling that I’m sure one or both of our 2 programs will feel again very soon. I guess its just gonna be the florida-bama show for the foreseeable future so we’re expecting some great games against the gators.

The funniest thing is the poster above stating we wouldn’t be on this blog if we weren’t so afraid of Georgia. No. I come on for comedic relief to see what crazy, delusional talk the dawg fans are up to now. How about you guys? Are you terrified yet of a team you beat 17 of the last 20?

I follow all the sec teams and have watched Brantley in the spring game where he went against the gator d and completed 22 of 25. The kid has a cannon, is unbelievable accurate, he is the real deal and after 2 years of experience as a backup he will light it up. You guys are fools if you underestimate this guy. On top of that I think he was the gatorade or parade magazine national player of the year coming out of high school.

Oh Bama Fan… Let’s see, Saban has been ther a few years now and you act as though you have been winning big for years. After Stallings left you went through a decade of stellar years. You hired one coach who never coached a game because he was hanging out in red neck strip clubs, and spending the night with strippers. You had another coach who was having an affair with a secretary in the athletic department for years. Oh yeah she was married, and sued the university for being fired. The school settled the case and gave her a fat payday. That was a proud moment. Then there were the Shula years. They were great! and lets not forget Albert Means. Congrats on the NC. You should be proud. Enjoy Nick While you have him.

Fla’s John Brantley is a talented young man .no doubt. With U. Fla. talent it would be hard to imagine they wouldn’t be able to plug in a very gifted qb the year after Tebow is gone. I believe he will do well, but expect some first year jitters, and the usual number of rookie type mistakes. ……………..Now, to Mr. Aaron Murray, I am quite sure my opinion will be heavily slanted as I bleed RED and BLACK, however, when recruted Murray already knew Fla. had Brantley. That said, I’m sure if Urban Meyer could have had his choice for 2010, there is no, I repeat no ! doubt he would have prefered Aaron Murray ! If you watch Murray on film from his HS days to the 09 Spring game, there is no question Aaron Murray has the “IT’ factor………Murray might have wanted to go to Fla. at first, but knew his competition would have been far greater than that of UGA. And whats more, Murray was smart enough to know what kind of coaching help he would get from CMR, as opposed to CUM. Yes, Aaron Murray will be a winner at UGA, but so will Brantley at Florida. My best guess, based on seasoned Oline returning to UGA, New agressive 3-4 Defense, and a scrappy bunch of DOGS with substancial playing time, It is now time for The University Of Georgia Bulldogs to take control of the East division of the SEC, and exact some old fashion ” Junkyard Dog” Butt whoopin on U.Fla., Tenn. S. Carolina, etc………Should be one hell of a game with Alabama, if we are lucky enough to get that far……..GO DOGS !!!!! GATA !!!!!

Iraq dawg this quote is for you.

” I want everyone to know this isn’t the end. This is only the beginning.” Nick Saban Jan 16,2009

“Our acceptance of the extension expresses our commitment to the University of Alabama for the rest of our coaching career.” Coach Nick Saban

1) Saban, at his own request, asked to open up contract talks before the season so that he could get an extension through 2016 on his contract.

2) Never mind that his eldest daughter just enrolled as a freshman at UA. Probably wouldn’t feel very comfortable to her if he planned on leaving in a year or 2 now would it?

3) Last year Saban committed to donate 1 million to the university to be spread out over 10 years in 1 year increments. Does that sound like someone who is leaving? Nope. Sounds to me like someone putting there money where their mouth is.

4) Saban pretty much burned his NFL bridges. As a side note to those who think he will get an NFL itch I have this to say. The dolphins job is one of the plum jobs in pro football and Saban was making more money for the fins than at Bama. If he was making more money in the pros and was at one of the best pro jobs and still didn’t like coaching pro players then what in the hell makes you think things would be any different now.

5) Saban is near 60 and is on the verge of retiring soon. The idea that he’s going to leave Bama and embark on yet another rebuilding program and be that much farther away from his Lake Burton lakehouse is absurd.

6) His wife is happy and has also stated along with Saban that this is the last stop. They’re near 60 and done with moving around.

7) People like to say that its only a matter of time before Saban jumps ship again. Going by your own logic if that’s true then what college AD or pro owner in his right mind would hire a guy nearing retirement who has jumped ship several times already and hope that the guy would stick around for anything more than 2-3 years. What guy in his right mind would hire him knowing all this. Any of you geniuses out there ever think about that?

8) Last point is the idea about Saban’s job transfers. Every job he took except Miami back down to Bama is a logical progression in job promotions. From Kent st to Mich state to LSU to the Dolphins. Can someone please name me out there a successful coach who has not taken a series of job promotions to get to where they are.

You must be one of those folks that lacks perspective and who forgets to let the facts get in the way of his argument. But you can always hope he’ll leave can’t you?

Hello???

I can’t hear you. Are you throwing your little ole potshots or ranting something involving your jealousy and resentment over college football’s winningest program over the last 100 years? Just the facts sir and that is a FACT!

What was that? Can’t hear you. I invited my latest national championship over to party with all my other national championship trophies(8-13 depending on who is counting, NCAA credits us with 16). When you have so many of them(more than anyone else no matter how you count them) they tend to make a lot of noise you see. All that dang clanging and banging. Man is it loud in here.

Oh man. You’ve done it now. Now you woke up the 22 SEC championship trophies and now they’re really making some noise by joining in the national titles. Oh, here come the 4 southern conference championships also. I guess since they were the precursor to the present day sec its okay to let them join the party. Lot of hardware in here.

Can I borrow some ear plugs? Its getting worse. Now the bowl championship trophies from all the bowl games we’ve won are joining in. Since we lead the nation in most bowl appearances with 58 we also lead with the most bowl victories at 32. With all these bowl victory trophies joining the party its deafening in here. Gotta be 100 decibels or more.

This is too funny. Even the little guys want to join in. Those little ole 7 division trophies(more than anyone in our division and 2nd in the sec) want to join the party. What the heck. Let the little guys join in too.

Gotta go. No time for messing with children of a lesser football god and that means you guys.

A really hard fact that Alabama fans have a difficult time with, is as follows : Yes, you won many national championships, that is a fact. But what is also a fact, is when your late coach “Bear” won most of those championships, he was less than honest or honorable in how he did it………He had enough political power at U.A. and with the SEC to where he got away with using Alabamas Tennis, Golf, Swimming, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and Knitting scholarships, and gave them to football players !! he tried to do the same thing at Kentucky, and they ran him out of town !! read some “real’ football history, and you will find this 100% true !!

When I read some of these rediculious comments from Dog fans like Red Dog, it reminds me of the Tennessee fans last year. Coming off of a poor or at least very sub-par season but full of bravado. I could never understand all of the imaginary swagger coming from the Vols last year, thinking that the “Lane Train” was gonna run over everybody. And then the train rolled right out of town … Now you are starting to see the same kind of nonsense out of Athens, claiming that a QB that has never played a down of SEC football is going to somehow cure all their problems. I hope they are not just basing this on something Colt McCoy said or some high school exploits. Better give the kid a year or two of SEC college ball before you start predicting championships!. I believe the Dogs are in for some very harsh reality this year when they find out that Willie Martinez was just ONE of their problems. It’s easy to look at their schedule and see another 4 or 5 loses…again. Can you say Papa Johns???
