Da’Rick Rogers-Bacarri Rambo war of words (and other stuff)
Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.
Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.
It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”
Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter: “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”
Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”
Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”
Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”
OK, on to other stuff:
– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”
– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.
– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’ second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.
– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.
– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

First off, the Da Rick criticism is unjustified. Question for Vol Fans, when is the last time UT finished in the Top Ten? You are not a factor is College Football and have not been for last 10 years. UGA on the other hand finishes in the Top Ten most years under CMR. You act like you are Florida but have the national rankings of Virginia.

I, personally, have never whipped Georgia, but UT has embarrassed the lowly dogs 3 out of 4. And like that jerk asked earlier…Who owns the series lead? You can isolate a period of history and skew the facts to support your argument, but the fact is UT beats UGA more often than UGA beats UT. And lately it has been by a significant margin. Face it Bruce…UT is a more successful program head-to-head.

Da Rick thinks it measns GA won 5 games and lost 4 over the last nine games. Not sure though, I’m a bad student. Maybe it means that neither team is dominating the other when they play each other. Although last year it was all UT. Rambo scared the UT receivers last year.

Yea, you can isolate periods of time and my period of time is since CMR arrived. UGA has been a stronger program than UT since he arrived and that is all I am saying. I am not discounting the history of UT football, only pointing out CMR has elevted UGA above UT in last 10 years and that is a fact.

If you are going to measure your program by one game each year, you can make that point. But every year you are referencing you finished behind the Dawgs in all the polls and record. You can have the one win, UGA will keep the overall performance.

Too much talkin in college football today. I remember a day when we said “act like you’ve been there”.
To Bacarri, the last time I saw you play in person you were laid out cold then left the field on a stretcher, not to be seen again that season. So talk is cheap when you couldn’t finish last season. Another note, people who have season ending concussions will have more of them and they will shorten your career. Instead of talking smack you better pray you can keep playing even the next couple of years.

The Safety position is the last line of defense on a football team. How many points did UT score on UGA last year? But I’m sure it was the other 10 players fault, not Sambo Rambo…
Why is it all of the so called top ten teams have won a NC over the past 10-15 years, except UGA? It can’t be a talent issue, because they have top ten recruiting classes every year.

So far this century UGA is 60% against the Hillbillies from Knoxville. I don’t think that constitutes “whipping UGA on a regular basis” or “spanking them with ease.” But as a pathetic Hillbilly fan, I can understand why these numbers would be difficult for you to understand.

Bruce- Of course I would love for UT’s program to have performed better over the last decade. The 90s were a wonderful time to be a UT fan, but the 2000s were certainly a disappointment for a large part. Having said that, I live here in the metro-Atlanta area and most of my friends are all big Georgia fans so bragging rights mean a good bit to me with these guys. Sure I would trade a loss to Georgia some years for a higher overall ranking, but for now I really do love beating UGA as much as anybody else on the schedule.

The differnce in Marlon and Da’dramamess is Marlon didn’t decide until the last few days leading to signing. Whereas Da’dramamess verbally committed to GA over the summer and switched. I am not sure that verbals are important except with integrity of your word. I am thankful Da’mess is at ole rockytop. Appears to be a lockerroom head case. Go DAWGS!

And this wasn’t the garden variety “I am better than YOU” trash talking.
Rambo was appearantly pretty offended by the flip of committment, and took it as an insult to his team.
(I think everybody is making way too much of the character issue with Rogers signing with TN. From what I can tell, he did so for reasons hard to get angry about)
But if our DB’s took it personally, I say , great!

Da Rick knows performance, UT won a national title and went to the SEC Championship game more recently than GA. That’s why Da Rick went to UT. But who cares, the only performance that matters is a national title, which there are none in the last 10 years for UT and GA. Da Rick is patiently waiting to put a stiff arm on Rambo’s jaw. Rambo plays against some of the best receivers in practice; that’s ripe, other than AJ Green they have no proven receivers. Like playing against the best receivers makes you a better DB, get real. Bunch of freaking whiners. So many ignorant rants by Ga fans. But that’s not all that surprising. You “hate” Da Rick, you seem to know all about his character and never met the kid. How many recruits has Ga gotten over the years that changed their mind to attend GA and dropped their commitment to another school. Yet, when it goes your way there isn’t any question about the kid’s character! Get over it. Da Rick went to TN because his best friend was going there. Nance’s family talked him into it and that’s the END of the story.

You Vol fans are starting to sound like the Tech fans from last year. Keep up the smack talk and ask the Techsters were their hiding place is after Oct. It will be fun hearing you guys dig up the 90’s when Georgia wins this year or better yet not hearing from you. As far as these kids smack talking across an IM site I would imagine they learned that from all us “adults” on this blog. I agree with some that had already said these kids should just focus on their grades and football drills and let their actions speak for them not Twitter or Facebook or even the AJC.
