Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.
Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.
It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”
Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter: “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”
Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”
Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”
Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”
OK, on to other stuff:
– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”
– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.
– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’ second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.
– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.
– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

Can anybody name an impact player that has an apostrophe in his name?
Rambo, please don’t talk. Just play the game and do your talking on the field. It rarely turns out good for a smack talker. If the opportunity presents itself then by all means make a clean hard hit. If not then don’t try to make something happen, that usually doesn’t work out either. But I guess Da’Rick has to get into UT first. That might not be a problem.

Ok. And for the record I wasn’t wishing the guy to die. Long-time announcers like Munson for Georgia and Ward for UT are a dying breed. Sadly it is a different era now without them on the mic. Apologies on the Munson comment.

Rambo is a loser! Every recruit has the option to change his mind–see Marlon Brown from last year…. Julio is by far better than Green, so I know Rambo is an idiot.
CMR will be fired within two years and you candies will beg for the hire of Derrik Dooley and will forget about all of this.

All UGA fans wanted Da Rick and to now say we are glad he is a Vol is just dumb. DD wouldn’t recruit him if he weren’t a quality person so I will go with that over all of this other annonymous hearsay. Do I hope he is 0 and 4 in his carreer versus UGA, absolutely?

It doesn’t appear that you will be allowed to attend the UT game in
Athens this year since the pictures of you & Smokey at the Days

CMR gets some of the best players in the nation and coaches them down 2-3 games every year. I hate to say it, but 10sc will beat you again next year.

UGA is headed down hill in several sports with no real reason that doesn’t fall on the coaches and the athletes. Their most successful sport over the years, woman’s basketball has even fell below Tech and will likely lose enough to fall out of the rankings. As for their sacred football team someone needs to learn to sign decent young men who believe in hard work and human decency instead of following the likes of Vick and Pacman Jones.

THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT RAMBO! GET MEAN, GET NASTY, AND GET PAYBACK!
Bacarri Rambo just became my favorite player. When I see Rogers go down and not get up, I’ll be laughing, not holding my breath like I do with most athletes(even oppossing ones).

I hope Da’Rick is looking for Rambo on Oct. 9. It will make it sweeter when Jakar “Jackhammer” Hamilton blindsides Rogers. The DBs will have limited chances though, don’t expect UT’s offense to be on the field much!

Bama Dave, you make no sence. So Saban is coaching his teams down every year but one I guess with that logic. He has lost alot more games in the SEC than CMR. Who the heck is 10sc? I am sure we can lose to them if we can figure out who it is.
Academics will deliver THE BLOW to DumRick
February 8th, 2010
12:15 pm
As a UGA man, I really feared signing the Rogers kid because of his poor grades and uncivil personal comportment. As an opponent of UT, I fear now that we will never see DumRick on the field as his grades and his uncivil personal comportment will keep him sidelined.
Nothing has changed, except that he signed with UT. See? Buddy boy Nance goes to UT as a “QB” and Dumrick was used. Neither kid will play but Daddy Nance got what he wanted. Son is a “UT QB”. That makes him look good but his carpet sales will not be so good.
Does anyone on this site recall tech’s “savior” QB Charles Dudish? He was so great in 67-68 in HS at Avondale, that his recruiting story was on national tv. He played awhile at Tech and just up and quit. His Dad was like this Nance clown. It will not be good ………..long term ……….for UT.
Go Dogs.

Saban's career clock is a ticking
February 8th, 2010
12:22 pm
Hey Bama Dave,
Congrats on the NC. Remember, Saban has the old career wonderlust. He is a fine competitor but he bores quickly in the job …………ONCE he has won the NC. He will remain one more year and yes, very, very likely will win it again …………. THEN his career clock will ring and he will leave for the Michigan job or another major school and then, Bama will waunder the wilderness again for 20+ years. These things run in cycles and Bear Bryant and the loyal men of loooooooooooooooong ago, do not exist. Saban is the prototypical CEO that plays for $$$ BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, the challenge of BUILDING A PROGRAM TO NC status ………which for now Bama has.
GO Dogs. See y’all in the Dome this fall ………maybe.

Is Da Rick still in school ? I heard he has had some trouble with the school administration and has been given a few days off for some bad behavior. All the attention has went to the kids head..
He does have all the physical tools but the head and heart has to be right too. Everyone needs to let it go including Da Rick and move on.

Ace …………..J Hamilton is about 6′2″ and a hitter and weighs around 220. Ogletree is also around 6′3″ and equally heavy and Baccari is similar but indeed smaller. To catch it and then turn into a 5′11″ kid that weighs 190 is bad enough. Yes, Roger is a 6′2″ kid and muscular, but when he turns after the catch or the drop, he will feel a southbound freight liner hitting him. If you played ball, you know of what I speak. Besides …………..these kids are just selling tickets. Talking smack.
We adults need to laugh it off. I weigh 240 and around 6′0″ and would never, ever, ever get up after a hit like they SAY they will deliver. I am also 61. HAHAHAHAHA
Go Dogs.

Urban Meyer doesn’t need ot be a college football Head Coach.
He quits every job he gets in 1-5 years.
He doesn’t enjoy it. It doesn’t energize him, it drains him.
