Da’Rick Rogers-Bacarri Rambo war of words (and other stuff)

Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.

Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.

It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”

Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter:  “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”

Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”

Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”

Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”

OK, on to other stuff:

– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”

– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a   dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.

– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’  second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.

– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.

– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

The Dawg’s defense must improve drastically if the team is going to compete with the other top programs. The offense will probably take several games to get in sync. The defense will have to carry the team even more this year. Obviously this remains to be seen ON THE FIELD not on Facebook or Twitter.

Did you dawg fans read the story on Willie Martinez being hired at Oklahoma? It appears that most people in the know, including Bob Stoops, understood that Willie Martinez was NOT the problem at UGA. WOW! Get ready for more losses to Vandy, USCe, and Kentucky.

Urban Meyer can’t beat a top 10 season in the regular season since 2008.

Florida isn’t getting their money’s worth.

They need a real coach who can beat some team besides Florida International.

I hate the guy as much as anyone, but who is the clown on here bad-mouthing Urban Meyer’s record and ability to coach? Have you forgot the fact Florida has won 2 NC in the last 4 years?I sure hope this guy isn’t a Bulldog fan, because Meyer has certainly beat the snot out of your puppies plenty of times.

Congrats to Georgia being named #1 college football team worth over $90 million and $43 million profit, #1 in SEC.

Meyer should be fired because he is a waste of money.

From yesterday…………..”It was at Darlington that Rogers met Nance. The two boys became close friends, as well as stars on the football team.

For reasons still unclear, Rogers was unable to continue his education at Darlington after his sophomore year. I asked Rogers to explain his departure in an interview this past November.

“Well, mainly they wanted me to be a leader throughout the school,” Rogers said. “And it was kind of hard because it was conflicted with me being a bigger athlete and them not really seeing athletes like me around the school. People felt intimidated by me and that made it hard for me to be a leader around the school. I tried and it just didn’t work out. It was just kind of like bashing heads all the time.”

Hi-freakin-larious. Can you say “BIG ME, little team”…………………………… Five “me’s” in two sentences. Prediction. He never plays a down in Neyland. Juco first, then welfare…………

Urban Meyer--No 31 NFL Draft picks= Waste of $$$

February 8th, 2010
11:01 am

Sad that the NFL is not impressed with Meyer either.

Meyer can’t seem to get Tebow a #1 draft pick, where Richt got Stafford a #1 draft pick.

Tebow = $100,000 NFL contract as 4th round pick
Stafford = $40 million NFL contract as #1 pick

Meyer is a waste of money.

Urban Meyer had the #1 ranked defense, Tebow–the greatest college football player of all-time, and 22 starters back in 2009 and STILL couldn’t win the National Championship or beat a top 10 ranked team during the season.

What a waste of money.

bruce- Yes. The chihuahuas certainly did lose to UT that year. Actually, it was 21-0 before the leghumpers ever got their second first down. Can you say smacked in the face? What else is new? In the eyes of UT fans Vandy is more of a threat that UGAy.

5 Coaches Quit Florida Since Dec = Waste of $$$

February 8th, 2010

Florida needs a head coach who other coaches WANT to play for. You don’t want 5 coaches since Dec. leaving a football team.

Something’s wrong when 5 coaches quit since Dec.

It’s a big waste of money.

Let’s not let facts get in the way here. Rogers did what a lot of kids would do, move to a school with his best friend. What a dream situation. However, most are leaving out the details. Virtually everyone involved in Calhoun have said that Rogers is going to have to focus HARD the next few months to qualify to get in to UT via NCAA guidelines. Most are saying he won’t make it. I always say that UT has skirted the NCAA guidelines for years and will find a way to get him in even if braking NCAA rules. Of course, that is harder now, so suffice it to day he won’t get in. I imagine he’ll play two years and hit the NFL Draft by 2013. He’ll probably never experience a win over UGA in all likelihood.

On anothe note, rumors abound that Bryce Brown will be leaving to join his brother at Kansas State. Makes sense considering K-State has one of the best coaches in the college game in Bill Snyder. The hits just keep on coming Vollies!

Looking forward to October 9th. Now if I can just convince Richt to put his feelings for Vince and Barbara aside and run up the score…

5 Coaches Quit Florida Since Dec = Waste of $$$

Mark Richt’s assistants leave only when fired. Coach doesn’t have the nads to fire under performers until his own job threatened. UF coaches hired away for promotions. Richt can’t beat UF or Tenn consistently.

Alright then, we will make a deal, you get the Vols to stop playing in Bowls (I guess I should say, stop going because they already have agreed to not play), and we will stop losing to TN. on occassion. Then we will both be happy. Vols cannot even beat ACC teams in bowls and you are cracking on UGA bowl opponent.
