Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.
Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.
It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”
Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter: “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”
Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”
Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”
Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”
OK, on to other stuff:
– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”
– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.
– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’ second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.
– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.
– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

I think we all knew this kid would be like this. Good luok, Coach Dooley, with Fulmer’s Washington. Talent, with big mouth, that can bring a team down and a coach….

Note to Da’rick Rogers: That pass was incomplete and was a game saver. Rambo laid the wood to that Auburn receiver at the goal line in the waning seconds of the ball game, and the ball shot up in the air ten feet and fell harmlessly to the ground. DAWGS WON.
Rambo has heart and integrity. Do you?

Gotta ask? Why would TN hire Dooley? I did not see where his name was mentioned by any other school with HC openings! Hmmmnnnn. Just wondering if TN didn’t want to waste a good hire because they know something may be coming down! Hmmnnnn. Have at it boys.

UT hired Dooley because he is a good coach and has integrity! So drink some coffee and sleep it off……….Rocky Top wooooooooo!!!

I’ll say it again… If a recruit commits to a team, and backs out, the NCAA should make the punk sit out a year. That will stop this mexican hat dance on signing day.

Sounds to me like Richt and Dooley need to get control over their players!
Good time to make Rambo run, and run, and run, and run……..
Another fine example of Richt not having control of his players and a total lack of discipline!

@ What??…….now you cannot expect CMR to visit the tanning salon daily and shoot commercials for Carpets of Dalton weekly and still have enough time to maintain control over the football team! Lets be sensible here. CMR has his priorities!! BTW Coach…..what is that latest color you put on your hair. I noticed its a lot darker than normal.

Rambo will NOT knock fire from DaRick. That’s because DaRick’s grades are so bad he may not graduate this year. In addition, the boy is having a hell of a time with the SAT. I don’t think DaRick is mentally ready or disciplined enough to play TN football. Well, he’s not mentally ready anyway.

LMAO@ Large Orange…a Vol fan calling out Mark Richt about control over his program. Now that is funny, I don’t care who you are. You mean the same control that little Laney had over the Vol program like armed robbery? Like the little Vol Ho program (banned by the NCAA) running all over the southeast trying to recruit players like Marcus Lattimore at Byrnes. Pathetic!!
Mark Richt has more control and ethics in his pinky finger than that pathetic thug run program in the hills. Have fun on probation over the next few years because its coming. Why do you think so many coaches turned down the job? Because they knew probation was on the way. When you sell your soul to the likes of Lane Kiffin and Mike Nance, you get what’s coming to you. And even a respected name like Dooley isn’t going to fix it.

Now boys, I know things are slow around the trailer parks of Athens. However I remember from just a few weeks ago reading posts that praised Da’Rick Rogers and how he was going to lead UGAg to the Promised Land. Now he is not good enough or tough enough to be a UGAg football player. Will you morons please make up your collective minds. I realize if you put 6 UGA grads / fans in a room the total IQ would be around 80. Still that is no excuse. Da’Rick realized that UT is a superior program on the rise while UGAg is a program on the decline. I hear CMR is taking the players on a team building field trip to his favorite tanning salon in Athens. Then he is taking them to watch him shoot a Carpets of Dalton commercial. Wow…that should really help them win some games!
