Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.
Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.
It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”
Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter: “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”
Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”
Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”
Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”
OK, on to other stuff:
– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”
– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.
– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’ second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.
– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.
– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

We suck and we know it. Even our blue tick hound Smoky has worms.
Our women are missing most of their teeth.
We have a couch on our front porch.
Some have an old Lazy- Boy recliner on theirs.
We lay newspapers over them when it rains.
We relieve in outhouses, or on a neighbors tree.
When that tree dies, we go to neighbor on the otherside.

What was the final score of that UT-WY game year-before-last?!?! I was pulling for the Cowboys all the way. As I do for ANY team that plays UT. And UT is the only school in the SEC that I ALWAYS pull against, no matter who they play. Guess it’s because of situations like we have here where UT fans get on a UGA blog and run their collective, ignorant mouths like they just won a NC. Every year it’s the same thing with these UT people, “we’re going to win the SEC and NC, MARK IT DOWN”. And when they don’t, it’s the ref’s fault or the other players were saying curse words after the game in front of Fulmer’s daughter, or ESPN doesn’t like us……….” Guess what Vowels, nobody likes you. You don’t have any HS players in TN so you have to get GA players to fill your roster, generally the ones that couldn’t get into UGA, and then you beat your chests saying “we’re UT”. Look UGA’s roster. It’s full of GA players. It’s really a GA team. Not some team put together from players, from who knows where, that your coach did a very underhanded thing to get (offering a QB who they know doesn’t have a chance in Hades to play, a scholarship just to get his friend to commit, this after he’s already committed elsewhere) BTW, thanks for that one. You saved us a lot of trouble. But get ready for the NCAA investigation that’s sure to come. Somebody surely needs to clean that “school” up.

Coach Mark Richt:
What is smokey anyway? looks like a cross between a goat and a racoon. The crossbreeding never stops in the mountains.
Seriously? English bulldogs (like Uga) are specifically bred (and inbred) to be deformed to the point that heart, hip, and breathing problems are the norm.

Cobb Mutt,
I live in Ga and I wouldnt be talking about inbreds or redneck toward Tn people because I have seen my share of both down here in Ga.
You also talk about Tn fans act like they won the NC , The way you mutts go on you act like UGA is just the dream school to be at, how funny.
Tn has recruited Ga every year for years and they will keep on recruiting the state of Ga , just like FSU,,South Car,Ala,Fla,and there is nothing MR can do about it,the recruits UGA gets from Ga is the left overs other schools dont want.
You also act like Ga is the most dominant school in the SEC and is their any school besides Ky,Vandy that Ga has a winning record against. We know you dont have one with the Vols.
