Da’Rick Rogers-Bacarri Rambo war of words (and other stuff)

Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.

Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.

It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”

Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter:  “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”

Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”

Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”

Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”

OK, on to other stuff:

– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”

– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a   dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.

– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’  second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.

– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.

– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

Why can’t we all just get along? Even I went to the trouble to learn the Soulja Boy dance to impress all the thugs on my team and to fit in…..even though I am rich and white. Don’t I go to the tanning salon 5 days per week to “look” more like the thugs on my team? I am even wearing a fur coat year round and have put spinners on my Suburban to seem more like the thugs on my team. I have started using words like “Mofo”, “Foshizzle”, and “Up in da hizzie” to seem more like the thugs on my team. If I can make these sacrifices then surely you umemployed, mullet-wearing, pot-bellied, redneck UGA fans can at least try!

Da Rick, according to one of the coaches at Calhoun…is a potential disaster for any program and has an unproven arrogance that will disrupt a team…Georgia is the winner and Tennessee the loser in this one folks…and the kids grades and Sat scores may not warrant him getting in school….Course we ARe talking TEnnessee so he will probably get in a be considered a bright athlete early on there!

Isn’t it odd we kick your rumps on the field and all you got is to revert to name calling..? No substance but I’ve come to expect that from many on this board. What a hoot. May the beatings continue and like Rambo said after last years whipping on the Hill, “Thank you sir, may I have another?” So much for beating Tennessee with one paw tied behind your back…

First let us see if is elligible then let us see if he can play. Being a SEC wide-out is not automatic and takes many skills on many levels. If you have followed the Dawgs for many years you have seen this with your own eyes.

Ya’ll pious ones might want to show a bit of character and call out your own (like I have with Tennessee fans that spewed trash here in the past). anti-Tennessee posts?

these are Georgia posts about Georgia football. We come on here to discuss our Dawgs and have to deal with you people trash talking on a daily basis. You people must be closet Georgia fans or you would be on the knoxville news blogs. I don’t care about tenn football except for once a year. Obviously you and your buddies can’t get the bulldogs off your minds. I understand.

Gen Neyland,

This is a UGA blog on an Atlanta paper’s site. Last time I checked Atlanta is the capital city of the south and it’s located in GEORGIA. Why don’t you find some lame UT blogs on your Tenn. paper site?. Wait, you guys still have papers up there, right? Maybe you don’t have the internet in Tenn???

Gen Neyland

February 9th, 2010

Jona : I long for Mr CFB too, but some of these forums are meant to be somewhat objective which means including those from around the conference and if written and/or postings are slighted, then you’ll need to learn to deal with objections from outside the world of Athens GA. As a college football fan, I can, have and will address the game but I’ve turned a corner when it comes to the spite and vile that is protrayed by fans of any program that continues on a one way street without response. If you want true BulldogSpeak, I suggest Bill King. I respect his forum and don’t defend my own over there (as a rule). The rest (Bradley, Schultz, Barnhart, Towers) open things up a bit more to include mob reaction to common sense debate. If you think common sense debate begins ends with a ‘Bulldogs Only’ mindset, I’ve got a water fountain and a diner you might be interested in…

Hey Messenger, Peyton never lost to Georgia. Peyton has an SEC Championship ring and a Superbowl ring. By your definition anyone who fails to win a championship every year is a choker. In fact Peyton is 1-0 in SEC championship games, 2-1 in AFC championships and 1-1 in Superbowls. He was 3-1 in college bowl games. Yes, he lost to Florida and yes he threw a bad pass in the Superbowl…but I am willing to bet that he will win another Superbowl or two before his career is over. Until then he will have to be happy with being one of the winningest and highest paid “choke artists” in the NFL. Now you can return to regurgitating useless info that will not erase the fact that he has won a championship in the best conference in college and in the NFL and is well on his way to the NFL Hall of Fame.

Meachem, Mitchell and Greer. Pretty good showing, don’t you think..? Now, the UT BB team gets Vandy and Kentucky on the road this week. That, my friend, is gonna be rough…

why doesn’t the Georgia State High School Athletics oversight people investigate Calhoun High School for allowing an athlete to live with a family other than his own for the purpose of playing football for that high school ? there is little wonder that Calhoun High School has become a football power in North Georgia, since they are allowed these kinds of privileges. i can remember when Calhoun was lucky to win half of their games. times change with the interpretation of the rules. they will let Nance & Co. ruin their football program if they are not careful.

What a bunch of dumb country f#%ks. The intellectually limited posts from UGA fans must be indicative of the masses in Athens. Of course I have a feeling most geeks hanging out sending twenty posts on one article are most likely “never went there myself” fans out of work with Cheetos stained fingers living in their mothers basement whacking out posts and blogs the likes of which no one reads. Go there, graduate THEN show the passion. It’s all just noise till ya get the paper with the seal on it.

Dawg fans on here bashing Rogers telling everybody what he cant do and what kind of problem he is going to cause. How come when he was all Ga, people wasnt saying anything llike this?.All I seen was him and AJ Green together that nobody in the SEC will be able to stop these 2.Now that he is a Vol he nothing but trouble, now his own coaches are saying how he will be trouble, then that means the coaches lied to MR about his character.
I think the dawg fans looks at it like this , if he is a mutt for Ga then he is all world and the greatest thing since slice bread but if he goes some place else then he is trash and a trouble maker and would of never seen the field.
If he is that bad of a player and a kid then why was the Dawg nation wanting him so bad?

This paper sucks by the way. The sports section is always filled with hate on Tennessee. Jeff shutz and Bark madley need to hop off and realize the fact. Whenever Georgia beats Tennessee, they beat a Tennessee team with a losing record by 13 or 12. When Tennessee wins they beat a RANKED uga team by 3 scores or more (see, 2006 51-33 and 2007 35-14) or they just take care of buisiness against a horrible UGA team, (2009 45-19).
