Da’Rick Rogers-Bacarri Rambo war of words (and other stuff)

Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.

Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.

It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”

Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter:  “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”

Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”

Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”

Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”

OK, on to other stuff:

– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”

– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a   dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.

– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’  second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.

– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.

– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

tn wasn’t even on GA’s radar last season. Looking past them to some real teams. Won’t happen this year.

Rambo is gay. He is the fourth one on the team that had a coming out party after the season and he really has a serious man crush on Rogers. When he says he wants to hit him…well you get his more sexual meaning.

Being a graduate of Calhoun High School and a loyal Calhoun Yellow Jacket fan(until now), I hope Rambo knocks Da’Rick’s Block off (or Derek or Darick…how he gets into college with a name like that is beyond me) Da’Rick = TRAITOR…and an embarassment to Calhoun, GA.

Richt was smart this year. While everyone else are wasting their scholarships on busters, UGA saved theirs to unload on the best talent to come out of Georgia next year, in decades

Jona- That argument doesn’t fly. Nobody looks past a divisional foe. EVER! And if UGA did indeed look past Tennessee then your coach should be fired on the spot. Simple as that. What it boils down to is UT beat UGA straight up. UT out-schemed UGA in every facet of the game. That should be motivation enough for this year without your 3rd year safety calling out a high school senior.

Jona, I guess since we wasnt on Ga radar last year that still doesnt explain the last 3 wins in 4 years. I guess you didnt qualify for that hope scholarship did you ?
Thats the best you can come up with? Ga looked down right pathetic and we had bozo as a coach and still put a beat down on those mutts.

Don’t brag on out-scheming Martinez. That was done on a weekly basis. That and happy feet Cox spelled disaster.

Did his parents just not know how to spell Derek? But with his thug, gangster name, he’ll fit right in with Montario, Denarius, Marsalis, Nyshier, Janzen, Prentiss, Tauren, Stephaun, Marslous, LaMarcus, Savion, JerQuari, Quintin, Montori and Rae. All of which are on UT’s proud roster of the Ebonically challenged.

Word has it that this is the weakest Sr. and Jr. class to come out of TN in a long time. That comes dirctly from a recruiting analyst. TN may only go .500 this year.

Thanks for posting this. After hearing Da’Rick’s comments to Rambo I am no longer upset about the Bulldogs not signing this guy. He truly sounds like an immature athlete that has a long way to go before he will ever come close to living up to any hype that may have surrounded him in high school.

Jona every time you post you sound more ignorant , now we got another bozo coach ?and the funny thing is he will probably bring a team down there and beat those mutts to, MR is not a great coach , a good coach yes.either way MR =Phil Fulmer in training.
Oh and you talk about Tn not being on Ga radar , now your trying to make it sound like Ga is the top school in the SEC , funnny. You cant even keep your own recruits in state.

CTown, as much as I hate to admit it, your 5:02 post was dead on target. The Vols took us to the wood shed without question. I hope we can return the favor in 2010. What the Vols needed as a coach was a man of character and they got that in CDD. Best of luck in all your games except against the Dawgs. Cheers

Half Century- Thanks for the civil response. I have read some of the posts on this thread and it really is silly. From both UT and UGA fans alike. I enjoy coming here and having intelligent conversations about football, and lately that has been hard to do. Last year was last year. I, for one, hope this year will be a better game. I like it better when the rivals of my school are on top of their game. It just makes for better games, and it makes bragging rights all the more special. Hopefully both UT and UGA can come into the game undefeated with UT winning on a last second score. It’s a long time til then and I hope these kids can keep their mouths shut and focus on getting ready. See y’all in October.

Rambo started at QB for his HS team, and did very well. When their QB graduated the coach didn’t have a go-to QB waiting so he put Rambo behind center. They did quite well, making the playoffs even though Rambo had never played the posistion. BTW, Rambo ran the spread option from Ga Southern, could be intersting to see him in the wildcat.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA You UGA fans are funny, we spanked you in 2006, 2007, 2009 that is the last 3 out of 4….We won in Athens in 2004 and 2006 so thats 2 out of 3 at your place….So why are you still talking trash????

PS: You do remember that your offense didnt score a single TD last year correct??? You need to check your cofidence level about next years game, I know you got a new Defensive cordinator and all, but that wasnt your problem last year in Knoxville, you didnt score a single offensive TD!!!!!……I have seen using cordinators as a “Scape goat” to many times latley, your problem wasnt just Willy, it was also the man at the top…That being said I have 0 worries about the game against the Mutts next year.

PS: We have the all time series lead over you, more National titles, more SEC titles …..UGA is inferior to UT!!!!!!!!! Eat it up little brother!!!!!!

The young Mr. Dooley is probably just like his Dad — will put his program on major probabion about every 3-4 years. (Of course, never his fault!) Young Dooley took a lot of overpriced assistants Kiffen no longer wanted (about four other coaches refused to take the job for that reason) but that UT was stuck with. Dooley is desparate; Rogers just unwise.

Yeah becuase you got pathetic teachers and people in the community upset he didnt choose UGA, you guys are sick for hating on this kid so much, so what he likes UT better??? I dont blame him, he probably talked to Marlon Brown and his granny and they said “Da’Rick unless you want to get beatdown by them for the next 4 (or atleast 3 out of 4) years you better sign with them”….

His coach was so mad he didnt go to UT, I seen the press confrence, ITS HIS LIFE, HE CAN GO TO SCHOOL WHERE HE WANTS!!!!!!!
