Da’Rick Rogers-Bacarri Rambo war of words (and other stuff)

Oct. 9 continues to loom larger. That’s the date of the Georgia-Tennessee football game, which became the most compelling on UGA’s 2010 schedule the moment Derek Dooley was named the Vols’ coach. Now, there’s the added storyline of Da’Rick Rogers, the Calhoun High wide receiver who broke a 7-month commitment to Georgia to sign with Tennessee last week, potentially playing against the Dogs and encountering UGA safety Bacarri Rambo.

Rogers and Rambo have been going at it a bit on Facebook and Twitter since last week.

It started with a Facebook status update by Rambo, who wrote: “Bacarri Rambo thinks [it] is messed up how all of UGA high school commitments back out on us but I’m telling you now when I catch you on the field I’m going to knock fire from you.”

Rogers responded Saturday on Twitter:  “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”

Then from Rambo on Twitter: “Tell Darick ‘pretty boy’ Rogers he doesn’t have to know me but I bet he will feel me!! Lol”

Then from Rogers: “don’t worry about me ha … that’s your choice … last time i checked a big hit =’s you getting knocked out.”

Rambo: “I compete against the best receiver in the nation everyday at practice. Why should i worry about that guy.”

OK, on to other stuff:

– Saturday night’s crowd at Stegeman Coliseum wasn’t huge (an announced 8,131), but it was spirited and it again showed that the Dogs can enjoy a significant home-court advantage in the old building. “Everyone said when I came we need a new place,” UGA coach Mark Fox said after the victory over Vandy. “Heck, no, we don’t need a new place! We just need great fans like we had tonight and the right effort.”

– The approximately $12 million in Stegeman renovations approved by UGA’s Athletic Board last week won’t affect the seating bowl, but will make a   dramatic difference in the concourses and the exterior appearance.

– Interesting game Saturday. Georgia scored 23 points in the first half, the Bulldogs’  second fewest in any half this season, and 49 in the second half, their most in any half this season. The Dogs’ ball-handling, lousy in the first half, improved in the second.

– Of Georgia’s six SEC losses, four have been by four points or fewer.

– And the Georgia men’s tennis program continued its 21-year winning streak against Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets 5-2 at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens -– Georgia’s 24th consecutive victory over the Yellow Jackets dating back to 1989. Georgia is a mind-boggling 50-1 vs. Tech in men’s tennis since 1969.

No moron. What it means is that last year UGA was better when they played. It means that UT was better when they played UGA. It’s the ONLY measuring stick there is Nancy. When the teams play head-to-head the winner is better. It’s not that hard to figure out Alice.

Cut UT some slack. Of course they have to recruit in Georgia to get their players because we actually play football like men in high school and produce talent, unlike the fairies in Tennessee that have one of the worst high school football systems in the country. It’s actually quite sad.

All you UGA fans get so angry when anyone dares mention UF it proves to everyone else what an overwhelming inferiority complex UGA has for UF. UGA rarely gets it done against UF even while Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama and even Mississippi go into the swamp and beat great Gator teams. Florida has mystical powers over no other teams in the country accept Georgia. What the world needs now is a Georgia team the first shuts the hell up and then actually proves themselves winners by WINNING! You lost to Kentucky, Tennessee, LSU and you barley got past a weak Auburn team that had you whipped into the 4th quarter. Yes indeed it’s time to put up and act like the winners your fans wish you were.

To Will…before your “3 out of 4″…UGA owned UFK (the university of football at knoxville) by winning 4 out of 5. So??? To either stat. It means noone owns either one. Its 5-4 with CMR vs UFK. However, during three of those campaigns UGA played in the SEC title game 3 times and won two SECC. UFK? 0 Titles! So Good Bye to you Will!

To Da’Rick…Yeah Rambo got knocked out….but he showed what a Damn Good Dawg is and what loyalty is….he sold for his team….he sacrificed himself for the good of his team. You would never do that here. You are about yourself….I hear when you go across the middle and hear footsteps…you lay down, drop the ball, duck and demonstrate your scared, prima dona self! Now there’s a teammate for you!

And to those saying this is the same as UGA getting Marlon Brown away from UFK. Talk to his Grandmother….not some snot nosed traitor Dooley, his staff and “buy you anything you need” Nance. His Grandmother wanted Marlon at UGA because of CMR’s “Christian beliefs” and his moral character. She felt that Marlon would benefit more in his preparation for life by learning from such a man….not a Kiffin or any UFK coach!

As Marlon said…” “She liked coach Richt because he put God above all. She’s a very godly woman and she loved that about him.”

Can’t say that about DR’s choice…honesty, trustworthy, and a man of “his word”…he is not…he just a liar! Don’t come across the middle alligator arms!

On paper, Rogers should be a great wide receiver at the college level. But only time will prove if that is the case or not. UGA fans have a right to feel betrayed since they were lied to, but don’t get too worked up over it since this kid could be a massive bust

Rogers is right: “Who is Bacarri Rambo?”

Rambo is the most over-hyped windbag on the UGA defense. Rogers will run circles around him.

This is all nonsense anyway. Rogers will redshirt next year and, since he is currently on the bulldogs active roster, Rambo will likely be in jail next year. Tennessee is a much more wholesome place for a young man to grow up.

Rambo literally risked his life to win a game for UGA. Rogers hasn’t so much as stepped in a UT game yet. For now, Rambo has earned more than enough room to trash talk a turncoat.

Both UGA and UT will be in similar situations next year. UT with an entirely new staff, UGA with half a new staff. Brand new, unproven QB’s to lead each team. UGA has a little more stability with Richt still being there, and they have their entire OL coming back, both of which should give the advantage to UGA. As far as programs are concerned, I can see how it would have been a near toss up for Rogers. I’m sure the fact that his lover was going to UT helped weigh the odds in UT’s favor

Reality, your comments are hopefully, an attempt at humor, “UT will drill UGA in October.” I’m friends with a couple of long-time, and very knowledgeable UT boosters. They are refusing to even come to Athens, b/c they know what’s going to happen. One of them predicts UT could finish at 3-9! A new DC, from the WAC, and an OC who last held that title at Cal State Fullerton 20 years ago. Good luck Vols, it’s time for a little payback for the sins of your golden boy coach (who left you holding the bag.) By the way, Rogers lack of academic prowess was a concern for Georgia, at UT it won’t come into play. Face it, academically, Georgia is much tougher (reference The Princeton Review or any other rankings of public colleges and universities.) They slide Rogers right thru at UT.

With or without Rogers, the Gators will slaughter UGA again this year, so what’s the big hoopla? It’s just another wretched year where UGA will not challenge for the SEC title and will end up in a two-bit bowl game somewhere like Shreveport or Boise.

Senora,

While UGA has earned your criticism and prediction, UF will be almost as brand new this year as UT. If there was a year for UGA to take a advantage, it’s this one. Just too bad they too will be breaking in a new QB.

Vandy, UK and SC will be the ones, oddly enough, with the experienced QB’s. Could be interesting
