Richt on DC hire: ‘I’ll let you know when it happens, I promise.’
As Georgia appeared on the verge of hiring a new defensive coordinator, the Bulldogs’ best defensive player, Rennie Curran, announced on a teleconference late Sunday afternoon that he is leaving school early for the NFL. Which provided an opportunity, of course, to ask Mark Richt about Kirby Smart.
“I’ll tell you what I’ve been saying all along: that I’m not going to make any comments on the [DC] search until I get my guy,” Richt said.
And is getting his guy imminent?
“I’ll let you know when it happens, I promise,” Richt said.
Earlier Sunday, ESPN.com reported that Smart — the Alabama defensive coordinator — had not decided whether to accept a UGA offer of a multi-year contract at $700,000-plus per year and that Alabama had told him it would “do everything necessary to keep him.”
While basically silent on Smart, Richt had a lot to say about Curran, the junior linebacker who announced the end of his UGA career.
“Rennie has been nothing but awesome for Georgia since the day he got on campus,” Richt said. “He’s been a great teammate; he’s been a great student of the game; he’s really done everything you ask him to do. He’s . . . been a blessing to me personally.
“I wish Rennie well. I think Rennie will do well. He’s a tackling machine. He always has been. I don’t care what level of ball he plays at, he’s going to be that torpedo that can hit.
“I just want to tell him thanks for everything he did for us.”

Now hear this: The NCAA has changed the football rules and will allow U of Florida to play 25 men on offense and 45 on defense, given the fact that they have 100+ blue chips and Meyer’s demands have been met. They will use at least 5 QBs at the same time and will deploy 20 wide outs, as well. They will deploy 2 lines of scrimmage on each play and Meyer is being called a genius. He still has to work out snapping the ball with 3 centers. HAHAHAHAHA
When he leaves rehab he will expand on these new rule changes and his schemes.
New Flash: The Gainesville, Florida PD has beefed up patrols for the thugs soon to be on campus.

I am strongly considering a forthcoming, formal offer to be the head coach at USF. The offer is for considerably less money than I am currently making but there are alot of perks and incentives. The weather is great except for the hurricanes, there are a few clothing optional beaches close by and tons of hot dog establishments (Sonics) around.
The toss up is, that it would mean having to live in Florida and we all know what a cesspool that is or to continue to being accosted by vagrants and have to dodge bullets every time I step out side the compound in ATL. Hmmm..I’ll have a press conference for the few people that actually care tomorrow.
