Click here for new blog on Chavis getting a raise to stay at LSU.
LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis left speculation swirling Wednesday that he was considering the same job at Georgia.
He was asked twice about the issue at a Capital One Bowl news conference in Orlando -– and twice answered without distancing himself from the UGA job.
The first time, he said: “Well, we’re excited about what we’re doing at LSU, and my focus has been on LSU and will continue to be on LSU. We have an opportunity to win 10 ballgames, and certainly that is what we want to do. We’ve got an opportunity to be the third team in the SEC to win 100 ballgames in a decade, and certainly that is what we want to do. So that is where our focus is going to be. I’ll talk as long as you want to about LSU and about our players. Be happy to do that.”
In other words: a protracted no-comment about the Georgia job.
Later in the news conference, asked pointedly if he would still be at LSU next season, Chavis replied: “Like I said earlier, I’ll be happy to talk about our players, about this bowl game. Beyond that, I really want to leave it like it is.”
An LSU athletic department official told Gannett Louisiana Newspapers Wednesday afternoon that LSU was trying to match a Georgia offer to Chavis.
On Tuesday in Orlando, LSU head coach Les Miles acknowledged Georgia’s interest in Chavis, who is completing his first season as the Tigers’ defensive coordinator after 20 years on the Tennessee staff.
“We have not discussed Georgia in any way, [but] certainly there is word out that Georgia has interest,” Miles said Tuesday. “I have not heard from Georgia. I don’t really want to talk about that. . . . It’s a distraction to a game.”
LSU plays Penn State in the Capital One Bowl on Friday.
Georgia coach Mark Richt has been seeking a new defensive coordinator since the Dec. 2 firing of Willie Martinez. UGA associate athletics director Claude Felton said Wednesday that Richt, consistent with his policy throughout the process, would have no comment on any potential candidate.
Chavis made $450,000 plus bonuses at LSU this season. Indications have been that Georgia would be willing to go higher than that and offer a multi-year contract to the right candidate.
Chavis, 53, a South Carolina native, coached at Tennessee from 1989 through 2008, serving as defensive coordinator his final 14 years in Knoxville. The Vols ranked among the SEC’s top four teams in total defense in 10 of Chavis’ 14 years as coordinator.
In Chavis’ first season at LSU, the Tigers’ defense improved dramatically, ranking third in the SEC and 12th nationally in scoring defense (16 points allowed per game).
Another veteran defensive coordinator, Virginia Tech’s Bud Foster, considered the Georgia job earlier this month but declined UGA’s offer after receiving a sweetened deal to stay with the Hokies. Georgia also discussed the job with former Clemson defensive coordinator (and former Kansas State co-defensive coordinator) Vic Koenning, who recently was named DC at Illinois.
Georgia also has two other openings on its defensive staff, but Richt has said the first priority is to hire a coordinator, who then will have considerable input into filling the other positions.

Smart’s the guy, no doubt about it.
Possible coach in waiting, being that CMR has expressed interest in relocating as a Christian missionary in the near future.
Smart’s a person of faith and integrity, someone that CMR can feel comfortable with, having the same priciples.
He also knows that if he comes to another elite program and makes immediate changes resulting in a NC, his stock will make him an elitist throughout the NCAA and the pros.
Smart’s ambitious and knows that he is in control of his destiny right now, he is facing a huge decision.
Most importantly, he knows that this all correlates into a very large payday forthcoming within his young coaching career. Will he bluff or will he throw the cards? Enquiring minds want to know.

Even an indifferent, casual observer can sense the rising panic amongst those able to scratch their own ear with their hind leg. It’s also obvious from perusing the AJC columnists blogs, that aforementioned sirious’,can produce an unlimited amount slobber.Panic over the possibilty that a defensive coaching candidate from PODUNK U, might just say no.Well, dadgummit, why didn’t Richey have a candidate/prospect lined up beforehand? One he felt had a very high probabilty of actually wanting to be there? A DC from a place like UT, twenty years and no head coaching offers? Fear, panic, hysteria.Ok everyone, knit UGA a new sweater, everything will be alright.

The DC has long been interviewed and selected, and accepted. I seriously doubt anyone turned UGA down. It is just being kept quiet until the BCS Bowls, or, the NFL season, has concluded. It is fun to see the Techmites squirm though . . . and, to see the Bama fans who can’t seem to remember where they were three years ago . . . someone needs to remind them that they aren’t even in the top three SEC teams from this past decade . . . oh wait, I just did!

If we get our man. I also hope we get in addition Manny Diaz from MTSU. The guy sees what is happening on the field and makes changes appropriately. Manny also has coached the secondary and the linebackers AND special teams at NCST.

Everyone just relax I’m going to get someone. Once I get my Defensive Coordinator in place. I have Joe Cox who will be an excellent assistant for us here at GA. He has done his time and knows this stuff so good. I thinks he will be a good ass. coach for us. He really knows how to get the defensive backs to catch the football. I’m so excited in the direction we are going here at UGA.

We’re going to get Harry and Nancy to take Bama’s title away . . . make them give some points to Vandy, because, well, Vandy just wasn’t as successful. Then, we’re going to punish teams that outscore opponents in the future. What we want is, uh, uh, uh, please fix the teleprompter, uh, uh, what’s that Jeremiah, uh, oh yeah, we want every team to tie. From now on when one team scores both will be awarded points and when we run out of points we’ll just borrow more. And those who cheat, well, as long as they are citizens we’ll punish them but if they are terrorists we’ll ensure a fair hearing before the NCAA . . .

“The LSU overwhelming talent has lost 3 of the last 4 games vs UGA. Those 3 losses were dominated by the Dawgs. LSU’s lone victory was gift wrapped…enough said.”
The last 4 games prior to 2009: LSU beat UGA twice in 2003, UGA beat LSU in the SECCG in 2005 and won in BR last year. That’s 2 wins in the prior 4 games dumba$$. LSU won in 2009 so LSU has won 3 of the last 5. Typical dawg fan; making excuses.

red stick, check the record book, UGA absolutely PASTED LSU in 04! So, LSU won one in 09, UGA won in 08 at LSU, 05 in ATL, and 04 in Athens. As I recall, the only close game was in AThens in 09. So, DAWG88 was correct, and, LSU did get a gift wrapped celebration call that shouldn’t have been called this past year. Hard to see LSU winning without that gift . . . regarding Chavis, who cares, he’s a good, solid DC, would be good in Athens and good if he stays at LSU. Either way, both schools will retain good if not great talent, and, both will have good coaching. Both will remain in the top tier of the SEC and both will have ample opportunity to remind Bama fans than they are but in a short run . . . now, UF is a different story. As much as I dislike the Gators, they have something to talk about!!!!!!!!!!!

Tim Tucker, when you AJ-C sportswriters get together on a story, you all stick together on it, don’t you ? Like when you all said UGA was NOT TOUGH and Tech was pre-game, only to witness 30-24.
And, Tim Tucker like now you say John Chavis, Chief.
December 30, 2009.
A YEAR.
An entire YEAR after I called for that.
Missed that chance A YEAR AGO.
Anyway, Coach Richt is hiring an NFL Coach.
We all read that.
Why did NO AJ-C reporter pick up on it ?
Sitting there typing instead of reading.
Doug Roberson, sir :
Other than a Cuban sandwich, what you have is goulash. God Awful Goulash. That and a lot of bread. Sorry, but I do not share, and neither does anyone else that what you report about love you some Cuban food in Miami. It is inedible and there aren’t any places to be found that are edible.
HOW CAN YOU LEAVE OFF HOW UNSAFE YOU FEEL THERE ?
Guess you get used to that in the slums of Atlanta where all our CRIME is and where ALL OUR DRUGS are, surrounding the Tech campus. They tried to gentrify the neighborhood, but those businesses are now closing. Major landmark anchor businesses for those business-shopping districts in the slums of a city of 6 million – such as Publix who is closing this week.
238 lbs. Left Tackle for GA tek, yeah, that’s small, and as for how tough he is, pardon me, Paul Johnson YANKED HIM for the last 4 plays of the game when he SCRAPPED his high school offense and threw 4 incomplete passes instead to END THE GAME 24-30.
If you want a STORY LINE for THIS game NO ONE WILL WATCH and NO ONE WILL ATTEND, especially NOT any of THESE GA tek fans in here posting to this biased blog of feel good about a team who played SIX GAMES against OPPONENTS who are NOT even in a damn bowl game – here you go : Iowa beat 1 team all season long and that team beat NO TEAM RANKED IN THE FINAL BCS TOP 34 TEAMS (Pennsylvania State.)
GA tek beat 1 team all season long too.
So, there you have it.
Iowa who beat 1 team (who beat no team in the BCS Final Top 34 teams) plays Georgia tek who played 6 games against teams who are NOT EVEN IN A DAMN BOWL GAME and GA tek also ONLY BEAT 1 TEAM ALL SEASON LONG.
Iowa LOST to a team who LOST to 4-8 Syracuse, LOST to 6-6 Minnesota, and LOST to 6-6 Michigan State.
GA tek LOST to a team who LOST to 7-6 Kentucky and LOST to 7-5 TN vols.
Great game.
Huh ?
Here those 2 are facing off against each other in crime-ridden, horrible food horrible restaurants of no choices but Goulash to eat with lots of bread – which is all they eat –Miami.
Keep your doors locked in Miami Doug. Would love to have you make it back here safely and report to us after the game what is the story line of a game that no one cares about and no one will watch, with no GA tek fans there.
GA tek is the WORST TRAVELING school in all of America.
WAR ZONES look better than where you are Doug Roberson.
What do you mean, who cares ? You should care. For your own personal safety, you should care Doug Roberson.
Orange Bowl is an embattled bowl. Too bad reading your story line, one would have to reply with such a statement of fact, to know it.
WORST TV RATING Orange Bowl.
WORST ATTENDANCE Orange Bowl.
And, you are what ?
Stuck for a story line.
Just be honest Doug Roberson, sir.
Tell the truth. Quit with the GA tek bias.
AJ-C doesn’t provide that bias for UGA in our blog, Bubba.
Why not report Doug Roberson that GA tek is Number 35 and UGA Number 58 Top National Universities according to the latest 2010 U.S. News and World Report Rankings, and that more to the point, that that does NOT make GA tek 1 of the Top National Universities.
We’re Number 35.
When in the name of Hell did someone ever claim to be Number 35 at any damn thing ?
To Deflect this “obsessed” whining of GA tek fans (both of them) before they reply with that weak butt post, may I point out that it is NOT UGA who has To Hell with UGA in their damn Fight Song.
By the way, I am absolutely certain that THIS is the source of the POOR SPORTSMANSHIP that GA tek actually has forever been known for, not the least of which is Paul Johnson saying to GA tek fans (both of them) to hit UGA fans in the damn face.
Not close.
TIMING ?
Timing was surely NOT THERE to have Paul Johnson scrap his high school offense and THROW 4 PASSES to END THE GAME.
4 passes that looked like WOUNDED DUCKS…
Yet, on that point in here Doug Roberson, sir, you sit there and “REPORT” that “Quarterback” Josh Nesbit is a “HEISMAN HOPEFUL.”
Right.
With his 38 games played and only 13 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions and another 23 fumbles.
Pre-Game, you were in here GUSHING as you are now about GA tek, Doug Roberson biased AJ-C reporter.
After the game, you tried to deflect that what you said pre-game DID NOT HAPPEN.
If you want to talk about Iowa GA tek, why not report that GA tek FIRED JON TENUTA and that Paul Johnson replaced JON TENUTA with the linebackers’ coach at So Miss as Paul Johnson’s DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR…
…and that UGA took the football and crammed it right down GA tek’s throat.
Right up the gut.
Every play.
That tech was NOT TOUGH,
Now, were they Doug Roberson, sir ?
40 years plus ?
Huh ?
1966 season. This is 2009.
That, Doug Roberson, is
43 years.
43 years since GA tek has even BEEN to a Major Bowl Game.
1955.
54 years since GA tek last won a Major Bowl Game.
How old are you Doug Roberson ?
I was alive in 1955.
1955.
God Almighty Above is all I can say and it begs the damn question if you are going to bring up GA tek’s Major Bowl DROUGHT of 54 years since GA tek won a Major Bowl Game, then (1) call them the Major Bowls and (2) say it’s been 54 years since GA tek last won a Major Bowl Game the 1955 season; and (3) say why haven’t any GA tek fans showed up for their 1st chance at a Major Bowl Victory in 54 years ?
Huh ?
Why not ?
Where are the so-called GA tek fans you supposedly address yourself too Doug Roberson, sir ?
1-3.ACC is 1-3 in bowl games.
UGA has been to 8 Major Bowls since GA tek LAST EVEN WENT TO ONE.
By the way, if you are going to discuss BOWL GAMES Doug Roberson :
7 of GA tek’s last 10 bowl games, GA tek has LOST.
GA tek has been to 13 straight consecutive bowl games now with this game, but is a miserable 5-7.
LOSING BOWL RECORD over this span bragged about of GA tek having been to a Bowl Game 13 consecutive years.
UGA has been to a Bowl Game 13 Consecutive Years too, and UGA is :
NOT 5-7 like GA tek last 13 consecutive bowls now, but 2 LOSSES.
13 consecutive bowl games, 11-2, UGA.
13 consecutive bowl games, 5-7, GA tek.
Now, that’s just me Doug Roberson.
What do I know about college football and try to report an unbiased retort to a soul-searching on your part Doug Roberson AJ-C beat writer for GA tek for a damn story line where you discuss bowl games but fail to mention that GA tek doesn’t even have a single not 1 player on the GA tek team who has EVER WON A BOWL GAME in his entire career at GA tek.
13 consecutive bowl games for GA tek, INDEED.
Just be honest.
Not a homer.
-0- tech fans. That’s an honest report.
Will be -0- at the game too. Why not report that the facts are that GA tek cannot give away 2 free hotdogs, 4 free Coca-Colas, 2 bags of boiled peanuts and a free parking pass to get a single GA tek fan to buy a ticket to 1 game for your so-called GA tek fans you address yourself to in such a biased fashion daily Doug Roberson.
48.
# 48 in the nation attendance GA tek.
THOSE ARE ALL UGA FANS.
We buy season tickets for the GA tek football and throw away all the tickets but our game.
We own GA tek at Bobby Dodd Stadium (named after a University of Tennessee at Knoxville college DROP-OUT.)
The AJ-C reports that there are 29,700 GA tek alumni in the readership of the AJ-C.
And, there are of course a third of a million UGA alumni by direct comparison in your readership.
5.
Only 5 teams have more ATTENDANCE than UGA.
GA tek # 48 in Attendance.
No GA tek fan on the plane down ?
Duh….
Easy to spot the GA tek fans.
Slide rule hanging out their pants, pocket protector in their pocket and YELLOW wearing YELLOW.
Which of course, is the color of cowards.
Cowards who LOG ON as for example St. Simons pre-game and BRAG of the DESTROY UGA, but after the game, has YET to EVEN LOG IN as St. Simons, despite repeated attempts by me to call St. Simons out to have a pair and face the medicine.
Oh, he replied with a different handle that he didn’t think that 30-24 was DESTROYING of GA tek by UGA.
Less than a TD.
But, it was not I, nor any of the rest of us who come in here daily to call out 1 St. Simons to log in as St. Simons as he did for all this time and keep that just 1 handle.
And, take his medicine.
DISH IT OUT, can’t take it.
Of course, GA tek fans try to tell me it’s old gold.
YELLOWjackets.
Lived here all my life.
Dunwoody.
I do believe I know what color a damn YELLOWjacket is.
Like you guys trying to pass off a 1930 automobile for the AJ-C headlines of 1893 that a train wrecked outside of Lawrenceville with the cheaters from GA tek onboard stoned by UGA fans who recognized that THOSE WERE NOT GA tek students playing against us, but football players you HIRED FOR MONEY to play us.
RAMBLIN’ WRECK RETURNS TO ATLANTA, the headlines read with picture of WRECKED TRAIN.
Not Automobile from 30 years later.
By the way, Doug Roberson, I have looked up the draft projections and I cannot find a GA tek player on any NFL draft site mock draft.
GA tek has 25 NFL players today.
UGA 45.
UGA will have MORE DRAFTED again.
We had yet another UGA player drafted # 1 in the NFL Draft 1st overall pick, just last season.
GA tek NEVER HAS.
GA tek never has ANY HEISMAN TROPHY either, but you fail to report that.
GA tek has ZERO Final AP Poll NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.
6 NC listed in the Official NCAA Football Records Book (I have a copy on my desk Doug Roberson, do you sir?), same as the 6 NC listed for UGA, and by ALL THE SAME POLLS that list GA tek 6 NC, that UGA has the same polls list us with 6 NC 1-A football.
But, UGA has an AP Poll Undefeated, Untied National Championship.
GA tek, by direct comparison DOES NOT, but does have SEVEN (7) SEASONS where GA tek did NOT WIN 1 SINGLE GAME all season long.
Read your articles Doug Roberson and GA tek has this great history.
B.S.
As you FAIL TO REPORT Doug Roberson that GA tek is on ACADEMIC PROBATION in NCAA APR with 914 in men’s basketball.
How can that be Doug Roberson that you have NOT MENTIONED THAT 1 TIME ?
This is CURRENT NEWS Doug Roberson. Today. Now. PROBATION GA tek by NCAA.
Today.
NCAA Academic Progress Rate GA tek Men’s Basketball PROBATION with LOST SCHOLARSHIPS AS PENALTY for PROBATION of limited to ONLY 11 SCHOLARSHIPS.
Did they decide they are even going to show this game on TV ? I never saw the AJ-C report on THAT, either. I heard FOX was not going to be available in MANY MARKETS, in fact I heard that includes this AREA.
Not that you can open the 1-horse newspaper town trying to coddle GA tek fans (both of them) sports pages and find a hard hitting truthful story line on GA tek.
Where is your retraction Doug Roberson for what you REPORTED in THIS blog about what you guaranteed would happen before GA Tek LOST it’s 60th game to UGA in football, a feat only 4 other 1-A programs have accomplished.
Let me know when you are going to FACE THE MUSIC and quit sitting there squirming in your chair hiding behind your keyboard UNABLE to login and say under the handle you said GA tek would “DESTROY UGA” that GA tek LOST St. Simons ?
St. Simons, don’t try to tell me you are NOT squirming in your chair as you read this, not man enough to reply with the handle St. Simons AND KEEP THAT HANDLE to continue to post ALL YOUR POSTS until AFTER THE NEXT GAME.
WUSS.
Doug Roberson, You know there is 1 more unfinished business item to address to your biased reporting for GA tek in the AJ-C, sir, and that is that GA tek’s fans are the WORST POOR SPORTS in all of sports. Imagine coming in here with the EXCUSES they came in here with after what they said pre-game about “DESTROYING UGA.”
There is a long TRADITION of POOR SPORTS at GA tek. Forever. From the beginning. No time off. Continuous. Everlasting.
60.
8 of 9 for Coach Richt.
30-24. (I didn’t know a 6-point LOSS is “DESTROYING UGA” Doug Roberson and both GA tek fans, and St. Simons.)

Bluto,
I should also like to discuss Craig James and Colin Cowherd.
SHOULD NOT BE LEGAL to interview Craig James on ESPN.
We all saw him say his side of it.
Fair and balanced ?
I think NOT.
That’s not right.
I saw the cell phone pictures from Craig James’ son he sent not to SMU but to Texas Tech. The kid isn’t any good.
Adam James.
Excuse me.
Your video evidence produced does NOT support your dad’s claim of a shed, sir.
An equipment shed with tackling dummies and pads only.
In fact, the room looks quite large.

I note too, that Adam James SAYS NOTHING.
Just his dear old dad, Craig James.

ESPN Craig James.
Colin Cowherd, your Interview of Craig James is ALSO not legal, son.
You can’t do that.
There was a COURT CASE SCHEDULED.
Trust me, Texas Tech will PAY MILLIONS IN DAMAGES to Mike Leach.
Texas Tech under Mike Leach :

9-3 Final AP Poll Number 20. AL appeal fails 10-2.
8-5
9-4 Final AP Poll Number 22.
11-2 last year Final AP Poll Number 12.
9-4 absolutely would have been again this year.
That is Mike Leach’s record at a “school” that the previous 7 years before Mike Leach were ON NCAA PROBATION for B.S. and lying and playing 21 players who were NOT ELIGIBLE, yet Texas Tech never corrected their won/loss record from it all.
Before that, Texas Tech was :
4-7

Nice Texas Tech.
And, nice place for your loser sons, loser Craig James. No one ever heard of you Craig James. Your teammates like Duper, yes.
All-Time without Mike Leach 416 wins 347 Losses 32 ties.
With Mike Leach : 86 wins in 10 years, only 42 losses.
9-4 with Mike Leach
Without Mike Leach ?
Not a damn freaking thing.
This is so typical of college football nowadays with ESPN.
All you have heard is the ESPN point of view.
This is NOT over.
Texas Tech is going down and this is going to cost Texas Tech MILLIONS.
They will PAY THE MILLIONS TO MIKE LEACH.
Just as UGA now, must stand up and pay Decory Bryant $500,000, no matter what the court said.
UGA pay up. I am ashamed of UGA not paying Decory Bryant $500,000 and standing behind some GOVERNMENT YOU CAN’T SUE ME CRAP. Football is NOT GOVERNMENT. If it were my $100,000 in donations to the Athletic Fund would be tax deductible.
Texas Tech will.

Craig James was not the running back in the Southwest Conference SMU Mustangs, as that was Eric Dickerson, as we all know.
Craig James was part of the team that gave SMU the death penalty, the only school actually ever, for paying monies to their players to play college football.
The evidence was so overwhelming, but of course the NCAA keeps all that private. One day, all this will become Public Record. It’s just a matter of time.
Why should it be private ?
Just yesterday UGA got it thrown out of Court, that Decory Bryant should be paid his rightful $500,0000 for NEGLIGENCE of the highest order by UGA football operations. The reason ? Public State Government employee.
We have Sunshine Laws in this Sovereign State of Georgia.
Open Public Records.
Trust me we shall all know who took cash monies to play football for death penalty SMU.
After this checkered past in at SMU, Craig James was NOT DRAFTED by the NFL.
NFL great ?
I know not.
I was there.
No one ever heard of the guy.
He played in ONE (1) Super Bowl. He gained 1 yard in total.
You’ll have to interview Craig James Colin Cowherd to find out if Craig James was the starter on that Super Bowl team he claims to have been on.
I certainly never heard of the guy.
Craig James WAS drafted by the Washington Federals of the USFL.
The records Herschel Walker SET AT THAT TIME Craig James was in the USFL, don’t count.
What Craig James did in comparison to Herschel Walker who NEVER has been discussed in the same sentence with any damn DEATH PENALTY or taking cash to play college football, in the USFL is Craig James couldn’t hold Herschel Walker’s jockstrap.
How a man who is handed the football 5 times in the Super Bowl and gains a NET 1 yard, for 7 inches per carry in the Super Bowl, gets the job of ESPN spokesman, is beyond me.
But, Craig James has been SUSPENDED for his involvement in this controversial one-sided ESPN viewpoint of a shed or not a shed, as only he asserts.
Not even Adam asserts that, himself.
Craig James following his SUSPENSION from broadcasting the Alamo Bowl with Mike Patrick.
Truth be told, all the ESPN college football broadcast team and ALL THEIR TACTICS, have been under Federal Scrutiny Multitudes of times, and will continue to be – especially this controversial Craig James.
For Example :
Craig James said in 1998 that the Big 10 Wisconsin Badgers were “the worst team to ever play in the Rose Bowl.”
Wisconsin went on to defeat #6 UCLA 38–31 in the 1999 Rose Bowl. Afterward, Badger coach Barry Alvarez fired back :
“Well, I know we’re at least the second worst.”
This is the kind of crap we get out ESPN daily in college football.
Their broadcasters tend to be from that part of the country and they are BIASED BEYOND BELIEVE and LIE.
Knowingly LIE.
These are the kind of comments, daily, that all college football fans have to put up with.
Craig James is broadcasting the Rose Bowl ?
What does Craig James know about the Rose Bowl ?
There have been 95 Rose Bowls. Craig James didn’t get to even sniff one. (Rumors of his being able to sniff aforementioned Herschel Walker’s jockstrap, I cannot attest to.)
The facts on that quote of Craig James, for example of ESPN broadcasting B.S. about College Football and how ESPN tries to SHAPE how we all feel about certain teams and conferences and players and now coaches they want to get involved with, are that
EVERY BIG 10 team since that game have LOST the Rose Bowl, except for – of course Craig James the very next year when WISCONSIN ALSO WON THE ROSE BOWL.
No Big 10 team has won the Rose Bowl since.
1999 season is the last time the Big 10 Won the Rose Bowl.
Not this millennium for college football seasons, has the Big 10 won a Rose Bowl.
But, that team was the worst ever to play in a Rose Bowl Game.
Wouldn’t all those other Big 10 teams all This Millennium, all be WORSE Craig James ?
Or, are you sir, NEVER held accountable for your statements any more than St. Simons in here ?
Washington shut out an Iowa Team once in a Rose Bowl 28-0.
But, WINNER Wisconsin 38-31 over the PAC-ZERO team UCLA the 1998-football season, was WORSE than that Iowa team shut out 28-0.
Have to explain that one to me too, sorry Craig, son, you are losing credibility.
Michigan once shut out Southern California 48-0.
ESPN broadcaster Craig James AFTER that 48-0 shellacking, says Wisconsin in 1998 is WORSE – winning 38-31 over UCLA.
???
UGA shut out UCLA Craig James in the Rose Bowl. Wouldn’t that UCLA team be the worst ever ?
SMU
Excuse me SMU football player of the DEATH PENALTY at SMU Craig James, did you know the ONLY TIME SMU was in the Rose Bowl, SMU was SHUT OUT.
SMU is the WORST ROSE BOWL TEAM EVER.
You can quote me on that Craig James.
Michigan shut out a Stanford team 49-0, but Craig James can shape ESPN opinions with his QUIP Wisconsin 1998-football season is the worst ever team to be in a Rose Bowl.
SMU Bowl Record is 4-6-1 All-Time. One would think if you were looking for the WORST BOWL TEAM EVER, SMU would certainly be RIGHT UP THERE.
Especially being shut out in the damn Rose Bowl you are broadcasting Craig James.
As a Matter of Fact, that is the ONLY SMU team to EVER BE SHUT OUT IN A BOWL GAME when SMU was SHUT OUT in the Rose Bowl.
But, that team is NOT the worst ever to play in the Rose Bowl, the WINNER 38-31 over UCLA, Wisconsin is.
B.S. ESPN.
B.S. to your tactics.
Broadcast and quit trying to shape our opinions.
We don’t care what you THINK.
We don’t care Colin Cowherd what you WANT US TO THINK.
24-9.
Craig James, I was there Cotton Bowl, UGA beat SMU 24-9.
I get more than just a little fed up with all this ESPN shaping of my opinions.
All of us are.
SMU hasn’t even been to a Bowl Game for more than 25 years today.
1984.
Open Mouth, switch feet Craig James.
Craig James rushed for 494 yards and 2 touchdowns in the NFL per season.
Never heard of you Craig James, because you are a NOBODY and a LIAR with zero credibility.

Chavis would be a good fit for UGA. Would Richt let him hire his own assistants? How would Garner feel about being passed over for DC once again? Would he take a hike?

NOT a fan of Chavis. GA can do better. He is a good coach but not a great one. Tennessee’s defenses got worse the last few years and LSU’s defense, while improving is still NOTHING like the defenses of Saban and Pellini. David Pollack said the same thing.

YOUR $1.4 million Shreveport vs. OUR $14 million BCS Orange bowl; You are quite an ignorant bug. All the major conferences split total bowl receipts among the teams within the conference. Since the ACC is not playing for the NC this year and the SEC is, Georgia will receive more money from it’s SEC counterparts than Tech will receive from it’s ACC counterparts. By the way you overinflated the purse for Georgia in Shreveport, it was 1.2 million. We also ran the ball down your throats on the flats this year. The good news for you is that all but our QB are returning on offense next year, so look for more of the same next year in Sanford stadium. Get back in your hive, bug!

If you want Chavis, take him. I had nothing against him personally and he is a decent coach. However WORD OF WARNING!!
With Chavis..two things you can count on…
1. You will have the best defense in the nation on 1st and 2nd down.
2. However, on 3rd and 10 plus, you will sit in a soft cover 2 and get picked apart all the way down to the field until about the 15 yrd line.
3. You will have the same defensive game plan every game..No matter if it is spread, option, pro style…
4. Chavis is so predictable…good offensive coordinators eat him alive.
Go Vols!! I welcome all of the Vol nation to Atlanta tonight…Let’s kick some tail

30-24 and 1-8 and 4-15 and Dwyer nad his 33 yd performence vs UGA’s lousiest D in history and at HGF at BD S. Laughable it was. National TV.
Yes, the Weedeater was played in front of “only” 49,000 fans at CAPACITY but the Orange Bowl will be played in front of 28,000 screaming farmers from Iowa with 62,000 EMPTY seats. HAHAHAHAHA

DawgDreamer: Right on! Probably most of the Techies invading our blog here don’t even realize that GT was once a member of the SEC. When they finally came to the realization that they couldn’t compete with the better teams in the SEC, they bailed out, went independent for a while, then went to a weak sister football conference like the ACC, which was probably to their benefit-they can’t beat mid level SEC competition anyway! 30-24 and 8 of the last 9 ain’t a fluke-it’s called DOMINATION!!!!

Do not speak to strangers in Dade County. Do not rent a car late at night. Do not talk to large women as they are um, shall we say, um phonies. Do not ride around late either with an out of state auto tag or a rental car tag. Do not stop to light a cig in the hotel parking lot, that BETTER BE guarded by men on tri cycles. Do not go downtown Miami. Do not go to the Grove after 4 PM or to Coral Gables after noon ………..unless you take Mike Tyson or an Army Ranger locked and loaded.
In South Beach locked and loaded means something entirely different. Know that difference as you leave the hotel. By the way, rent a room very close to the Miami.Dade PD. Safety comes first.
Other than that …………have fun.

Tech tried to come in the back door
December 31st, 2009
11:19 am
Folks too young to know this are 100% clueless about Ga Tech. When they did attempt to come back through the back door of the SEC in the very late 70s, they were REJECTED. They petitioned the SEC and actually wanted UGA and UT and Auburn to SPEAK UP for them, as “rivals.” The SEC took a pass. So did UGA, Auburn and UT, Dodd’s alma mater.
Please look this fact up or ask a relative that is over the age of 60 …………..they know that tech’s best days were the early 50s, thanks to Bobby Dodd and his half pint of Jack Daniels and his scheme of punting on 3rd down. Yes, 3rd down.
Most ( kids and unemployed ) who post on this site cannot spell the word t-r-a-d-i-t-i-o-n. THAT IS what college football is all about ……….tailgating with friends and family over the MANY eons. UGA has that fine tradtion going on now and all of my good tech relatives and pals know that tech’s best days were the ealry 1950s. THEY LOVE tailgating at UGA, by the way. Scenery you know.
For CPJ it is only a memory to try and build on. NC 1990? I traveled on biz in those days all over the USA. In Miami, The Herald declared U of M the NC in 90. In Denver they declared Notre Dame the NC and in NYC the NY Times declared Miami U the NC and of course, in Birmingham and Atlanta and Macon, the Telgraph and the AJC declared TECH as the NC. See? It depended on where you lived as to who won the NC in 90. History class closed.

Rumor has been swirling for 2 weeks that Chavis is already hired and they are just waiting on the 2nd to announce the hiring, and from what I have heard it they will have to double his salary for him to even think about staying since UGA has offered either 1 mill or in that neighborhood. Who wouldnt want to leave for a nice pay raise and a chance to turn another defense around then get a HC offer in 3-4 years?
Unlike willie, this would happen so hopefully richt is grooming some replacements for this replacement.

UGA in 2010
December 31st, 2009
11:29 am
UGA in 010 will be superior than we were this year on offense. Why? How can that be? UGA will NOT HAVE jumping Joe Cox at QB ……..is how.
With one quality running back coming in and that kid from Calhoun ………….UGA will score at will. The D will need to be steady and be able to put up a front and grow, as the season woinds down. In 2011 ……….it is gonna be so much fun to watch. We have a bunc of red shirt and true frosh ( this year ) that will only make the competition on the Offensive line better. Depth too.
Go Iowa. 30-24 it will be ……………again !!!!
