And sophomore punter  Butler and sophomore placekicker Walsh, both models of consistency all season, were named the Most Valuable Special Teams Players.

Other awards and honors:

– Senior quarterback Joe Cox was named the team’s permanent overall captain.

– Senior wide receiver Michael Moore was named the offensive captain, senior defensive tackle Jeff Owens and Curran the defensive co-captains and senior Prince Miller the special-teams captain.

– Moore won the Leon Farmer Award for dedication to the strength and conditioning program.

– Most Improved Player awards went to sophomore tight end Aron White for the offense, junior safety Reshad Jones for the defense and sophomore cornerback Brandon Boykin for special teams.

TXDawg,

WHITE America? I’m guessing your not white.

Because your not white, the rules should not apply, right.

Take what you want, when you want, however you want, right?

This mentality is exactly how the Thug U nickname came about. It surely was not by accident.

Since you want to discuss the law, are you saying that all of the laws broken, (stealing car steroes, burglary of homes, raoe, kidnapping etc.) and admitted to in the 30 for 30 show is acceptable because they wer black poverty stricken kids from the inner city of Miami?

This is what is wrong with America today!

Wow!!! Just WOW TXDawg!!!!

Seems someone touched a nerve in reference to something in which YOU have no DAWG in the fight to begin with! Unless..and I do hope I am wrong, you are black and painting with the ever widening brush that many use to justify their positions which are otherwise totally unjustifiable? In other words…..”the race card”"!

While there is some validity to your point that “most” major programs have and do use less than scrupulous methods when it comes to recruiting….with most schools it is “boosters” BUT right and wrong do not know color or race TXDawg!

The likes of what was going on at the U were simply inexcusable…PERIOD! Are you saying that no universities offer young and talented atheletes an opportunity to “rise above”? To get and education AND display their atheletic skills in hopes of having an opportunity to have a better life?

I could go on and on here….I know what used to go on at many schools as I was very active in recruiting for UGA before it became illegal for boosters/supporters to be involved! and yes…while some were much worse than others, IF you watched that program and come here with an effort to justify and rationalize what was going on at the U in any way, you sir are WRONG!

I agree with you guys about the hire already being made. I believe it is probably Smart, Muschamp aka the new long term contract for their head coach Brown, or the DC at TCU!!!!!!!

As to the coaching search….it is difficult at times like these to just trust and wait…we all want great, new coaches, and we want them yesterday! Lot os educated guesses out there…some not so much! We all have our wish list…I agree KS is somewhat unproven and do wonder how much os his success is a result of Saban’s hands on coaching of the UA defense.
I hope I am wrong but I think when all this is done we lose CRG! And he is a GREAT recruiter! Maybe a title and a hefty, deserved raise will sooth the wounds!

Whether we like it or not, as to pay for assistant coaches and coordinators, Ala. and UT have raised the bar…we can either ante up or settle for what DE will pay! Few….very few…athletic departments in the land are as well off financially as UGA….Evans has to step up to the plate…money cant be an object with the hire!

IF it is not a done deal…and IF our target ( I think there is a 1a and 1b) turns us down…it could get ugle and really not only hurt the program but really hurt recruiting for this incoming class! If you doubt that…look at the committments FSU got last week after anouncing Stoops hiring!

Anyway…we shall see…if I dont wear out my F5 key before then!

As to Muschamp…while he was and I hope is a DGD…When I have watched Tx play I have not been overly impressed with their D…especially if you consider the athletes Tx has! They do not recruit…they choose…the State of Tx has an unbelievable number of 4 and 5 star recruits every year…and 90% of the time…UT gets their piicks of the lot! Maybe I am wrong…just my 2 cents!

HE HAD GOOD TALENT AT BAMA , AND AT CLEMSON , COULD NOT FIND A WAY TO STOP tek AND THEIR OFFENSE TO PULL OUT A WIN .
THERE MUST OF BEEN A REASON HE WAS LET GO AT BAMA……………..

I have heard that the TCU DC (Dick Bumpas) does not call the defensive plays during their games, that it’s actually done by the HC (Gary Patterson) so in my opinion we would want to stay away from this coach. He is not the right answer…….we need a big time acknowledged SE Conference recruiter……you start winning your ballgames on February 3!

4. Charlie Strong said “HAEL no”
5. Tommy Tuberville “Hahahaha”

$1.4 million vs. our $14 million bowl

If you had been there before, you’d realize that that bowl payout is split among all of the teams in the conference. And the SEC, as usual, has 2 teams playing in BCS games. Once again, the ACC isn’t in the same league as the SEC.

I am confused about Rennie Curran considering the NFL as a junior. Is he not always described as an “undersized college linebacker with a lot of heart”? What would that make him in the pros, Rudy?

HEY DOG NATION,

ENOUGH OF THE KOOLAID! Kirby Smart couldn’t leave the georgia coaching staff soon enough just 4 short years ago. He ain’t coming back to Athens unless it’s to deliver another 31-0 black out, beat down. Hahahahahahahaha! I’m pretty sure he earned a degree in Finance which taught him that a lateral move to a lesser program ain’t smart and smart ain’t stupid (like the typical ignorant dog fan).

So now you’re reduced to analyzing our assistant coaching hires? What’s next? Living vicariously through another team like Bama? Oh wait, you did that too. Sounds like jealousy to me?

Bottom line: I would not consider it a lateral move if he makes more money by coming to UGA. Smart could use the offer as leverage to receive a bigger paycheck at Alabama if Saban counters but I believe he will show much better character than to pull that kind of stunt.

He’s a Dawg…..always has been…..he walked on as a player his first go around, this time he will hear the cash register cha-ching!

Ex Georgia Fan, aaahhhh that is so not true. Our best player was recruited by no one. I am with the guy that said Muschamp is over rated. I can’t remember him doing anything special against us or UF at LSU. Texas doesn’t play great defense. He’s a loud mouth if that helps any. I think his dad is a much better coach than Will.

Kirby Smart hasn’t proven anything to me. Obviously we THINK that Saban controls that D and maybe he does. Possibly Kirby has learned enough? I sincerely believe the key to shutting UF down in the championship game was UF poor play selection/ballance/mix that was the exact opposite of what they did all year. More on the UF coaches than the AL coaches.

A great coach isn’t going to solve all the problems on D. It is just going to take time to get a team full of juniors and seniors. It’s so funny that UT pays so Coach Monte so much and he is so well respected when he invented the basic D that UGA fans hated CWM for implementing. It takes players. Maybe we didn’t get the best players or didn’t evaluate them properly, but anyone with the first bit of football knowledge can see that other teams have more talented players, especially mentally.

To all you dawg fans who like to tell us how you fill them thar’ stadiums better than us, use your mutt-heads. Georgia puts more people in their stadium than Tech because there are more Georgia fans than there are Tech fans. Duh! Or maybe you knew that already, but were still somehow proud. China has more people than us, so should we be jealous? I have a large family, so my family reunions are better attended than my buddy’s who has a smaller family. Should I razz him about that? Ony dumb-dawg mentality would make me do so.

Look, you guys are 7-5 and headed for Shreveport to play a 6-6 team. I know times are bad, but surely you can do better than declaring how proud you are to be one small element assimilated into a huge hunkering mass of nose-picking, woofing rednecks. Why not dust off that old “Lindsay Scott-Lindsay Scott” cassette and relive your faded days of short-lived glory. Just get your fans to sell out your bowl game. Your first BCS bowl game ever and tickets are still for sale. Worst UGA team in 12 to 15 years and we still won 30-24. Tech had 2 weeks to get ready. UGA won and still fired three coaches. Thats the difference in the two programs UGA doesnt wait 7 years to fire coaches like like Tech does. Your coach is overrated and so is your team. CPJ will have to get a bigger D-line if he wants to play with the Big boys. #71 opened big holes all night against Tech.
