Three Dogs are first-team All-SEC

Three Georgia football players –- wide receiver A.J. Green, linebacker Rennie Curran and punter Drew Butler –- were named first-team All-SEC by the Associated Press today.

Butler leads the nation in punting average, while Curran leads the SEC in tackles and Green is second in the league in receiving yards per game.

Four other Georgia players were named to the AP’s All-SEC second team: placekicker Blair Walsh, defensive tackle Geno Atkins,  defensive end Justin Houston and offensive tackle Clint Boling.

Alabama swept the top three individual honors, with running back Mark Ingram being named the league’s offensive player of the year, linebacker Rolando McClain the defensive player of the year and Nick Saban the coach of the year.

Here’s a link to the full team.

The AP team is chosen by media members. The coaches’ All-SEC team will be named Tuesday.

Best record over the past 8 years in the best conference in the country does not equal “middle of the leauge(sic)”.

Tough to think about it..but our team will never be as good as Alabama with Nick Saban there. We will always have excuses and 8 to 11 win seasons. No championships, reality hurts.

Maybe we get a better draw with our next head coach. I am not feeling great about the dawgs future. Sorry, we are losing recruits b/c they see the writing on the wall. I feel as though the Richt ship is lost at sea, with no chance of anything but high seas.

Georgia Tech should cover the 3.5.

Iowa’s NCAA SoS is Number 17 to Georgia Tech at Number 51.

Iowa’s wins are all 3 over very questionable teams. Penn State, Arizona, and Wisconsin – none of whom beat anyone else.

Iowa cannot run the football to save their soul, and that is how you beat Georgia Tech. They can light up the Tech secondary, but Tech has a month to figure out to never put 7 in the box and to drop back 5, assuming Tech can find a nickel back to drop back.

Iowa just is not a good match-up for Georgia Tech. A Conference Champion should not have to face a team who LOST 2 of their last 3 games, including hapless Ohio State whom The SEC owns and highly questionable Northwestern who played SoS Number 112 and therefore somehow is facing Auburn in the Outback Bowl.

Northwestern LOST 4 games against SoS Number 112, just wait until you see whom it is Northwestern LOST to, but Northwestern beat Iowa. Good Lord, Northwestern LOST to Syracuse 4-8, Minnesota 6-6, Penn State whose ONLY WIN is over Northwestern BCS Number 35, and 6-6 hapless too Michigan State. But, this Northwestern crap team beat Iowa.

Iowa should have no hope.

The Big Ten (11) is such a joke a conference, none of them playing any one, and worse yet, all of them losing to nobodies and beating highly questionable therefore, teams.

Now, if Georgia Tech gives up on its run, and tries to pass the football with a “qb” who in 34 games over 3 years has thrown a grand total of 12 TD passes to 11 interceptions, Tech would be playing straight into the hands of the only thing Iowa can do, and that is to defend the pass. Iowa gets lots of practice practicing against themselves, and Iowa can pass the football.

Surely, Georgia Tech is not going to be that stupid, again, like they were against us on their last 4 plays in a row, which cost them the game. And, we don’t even have a secondary.

Remember, he never played or coached for The Bear, so he has no allegiance to you people. to all UGA fans, please sit back and relax, and let CMR and AD Evans do there due diligent in the search for a DC. we do not need rumors, just the right guy. the right guy is not going anywhere before we can hire him. chances are that the right guy is probably still coaching his team up for a bowl game and CMR respects that, because if the right guy wants to be in athens, he will be here after his obligation to his former team is up. meaning he wants to be here therfore there is no other school can lure him away, because he wants to be here….Go Dawgs

Yes, while The University of this Beautiful State is recognized as 1 of the very elite in beauty of our campus, Georgia Tech has more students who find their doors bashed down and them robbed in those slums, and they always use a gun.

When The NCAA itself says Tech’s Strength of Schedule is Number 51 in the nation, with 6 opponents who will not even be in a bowl game, and while Iowa beat 3 different BCS Top 25 teams to Tech beating only 1 BCS Top 25 team, indeed why would I click some other measure that shows you say that Tech played a tougher SoS than Iowa ?

BuLLdawg

December 8th, 2009

Look, Tech only beat 1 team in the BCS Top 25.

Tech played 6 opponents who do not even go to a bowl game.

Your campus is in the slums where the crime is, and the guns, and the drugs.

Tech’s SoS is Number 51 by The NCAA itself.

Iowa is a horrible opponent for any conference CHUMPionship game winner to have to play.

The game is in Miami, where the crime approximates that of Tech’s own campus. It is a The BCS Game which always has the dead last worst rating, and this match-up with Iowa is a horrible match-up with Iowa, who lost to Northwestern for God’s sake with their SoS Number 112 in the nation. Iowa is a horrible football team, whose only strength is stopping the pass, which is what Georgia Tech did to lose to UGA.

I don’t know who the new DC is going to be but if I were a betting man, I would lay a $100 that it won’t be Kirby Smart.

How is Blair Walsh not 1st team all SEC?

If Cox would not have thrown all those INT’s, he could have made 2nd team. We also would have had to win a couple of more games, namely UK and LSU.

Oh well, he tried hard and gave it his all. Looking forward to Murray with all the OL,RB, TE and WR’s returning.

UGA Girls are Dawgs

I have heard rumors that some SEC schools want UGA out of their conference and replaced with a more competitive (athletically) and more accomplished (academically) program. Unfortunately no other conference seems to want the Bull(sh*t)Dogs, so the only option will be for them to become an independent, like Notre Dame. Now there’s a comparison for you – both overhyped and under-delivering programs – maybe the two of them can form a conference of their own, and Richt can coach both of them

I am a Tech fan coming in peace. I posted this on the Tech side of the forums and no one really wanted to talk about it…so I figured I would approach the “enemy”. After watching the game, I’ve concluded that your athletes, particularly on the lines, are just plain out bigger, stronger and better conditioned. Your center (Jones) and that one big guard (Glen?) in particular was just plowing our DTs in the ground. All of your linemen look big and strong and just…well, big and strong. Tell me about your S&C program. There is only so many ways a guy can bench press and squat right?…I’m just wondering if VanHalanger (sp?) does conventional stuff, or if he is more like Florida’s S&C coaches. They do alot of “unconvential” stuff, from what I hear…like flipping big tires like the ESPN World’s Strongest Men competitions and things like that. Maybe there’s no “ancient Chinese secret” at all. Maybe your athletes are just bigger and stronger right out of HS and so they got the jump on us from the get-go. Or maybe it’s because of your high dollar facilities?…just curious. Heck, you beat us right? Figured it wouldn’t bother you to talk friendly to Tech fan for a change….would it?

Real Question, It is always good to hear real football talk from an “enemy” blogger instead of the usual “your team sux, my team is great” crap. UGA has struggled with the line for several years now with true freshman starters at several posistions. IMO, the line appears to be stronger simply because the kids have grown up. It is difficult for an 18 year old to compete on the O line in Div 1 simply because they aren’t strong enough, regardless of their size or technique. Boling, Jones, Glenn, and Sturdivant all started as freshmen. They did very well at pass blocking, but were unable to blow the defense off the ball. Sturdivant was probably the best of the lot, but he has missed the last two years due to injury. The coaches shuffeled line-ups for two years due to various injuries before finding a group with the right chemistry near the end of this season. The dawgs only lose one O lineman this year and Sturdivant should return so the O line should be in good shape next season. CPJ likes the smaller quicker O linemen because they are better at cut blocking. He wants them to block the D lineman and get to the second level quickly, therefore they need to be quick and athletic. Techs O linemen are smaller because CPJ needs them for his spread option offense.
