Drew Butler now has something else in common with his father: He’s an All-American.
Georgia’s punter today was named to the American Football Coaches’ All-America Team –- the first UGA kicker (punter or placekicker) to earn All-America honors since Butler’s dad, Kevin, did so as a placekicker in 1983-84.
Drew Butler is the first Georgia punter to be named All-America in the modern era, according to UGA. Georgia has had several other players over the decades who earned All-America honors at their primary positions and doubled as a punter.
Butler, from Duluth, leads the nation with a 48.8-yard average on 50 punts this season, his first as the Bulldogs’ No. 1 punter. He is on pace to break UGA’s single-season punting record (45.4-yard average by Chip Andrews in 1984).
Butler is one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award, presented annually to the nation’s top punter.

I concur with Venting Dawg. AJC blogs have been awfull this year. Same lame subjects…”who’s your favorite player” and “what your favorite memory of – insert other team – vs UGA. Team coverage has been spotty at best and as any true fan know we simply want more coverage that’s up to date.

Kudos to Butler. Too bad he plays for such a team of thugs which sets out to win by hurting the other team’s QB. I tried to root for the dawgs except when they play Tech thinking they had matured and reformed. I see that I was wrong Big Time. I will now revert to hoping thay lose every game. To Hell With Georgia is so appropriate because that is certainly where they will go.

Independence Bowl and UGA officials have said.
One of the sorry-butt Big XII teams.
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl is taking the vols so they can spend the night. Atlanta needs the convention revenue, badly.
33 Bulldogs in the NFL and another 4 on injured reserves, and this week DJ Shockley, who had finished his three-year $1.6 million dollar Falcons’ contract last year, was put back on the Taxi Squad by the Falcons.
17 Started in the NFL last week, who played here for our UGA Bulldogs.
Matthew Stafford in 9 NFL games so far has had 12 Touchdown Passes and 3 Rushing Touchdowns, with 18 Interceptions, 4 Fumbles, and a QB Rating of 62.
At 0-16 last season, these stats are against the worst teams in the NFL, as that is how the NFL does a schedule. Worst teams play worst teams, and best teams play best teams – unlike Georgia Tech who played 6 games (half their season of 12) against teams who will NOT be in a bowl game. (UGA 3.)
I told you so.

Congrats to Butler, and he’s one of the best around. But I’m surprised Florida’s punter didn’t get this. His average may not be as high, but b/c his punts are so high so consistently (allowing the punt coverage team to get in the returner’s face before the ball arrives), getting good field position off a punt return is simply taken out of the equation when you play the Gators. What, 15 return yards allowed all YEAR?! That is simply phenomenal. That has to be a NCAA record.

Congrats to Butler on his face mask penalty which helped the dawgs lose the game. This is consistent with the thug FSU mentality which Richt brings from Mickey Andrews making the dawgs one of the most penalized team in the nation. These dawg-thugs try to win by injuring the opponent’s star players as they did to Nesbitt both in 1008 & 2009. I see that another dawg-thug, Montez Robinson, was arrested, for the 2nd time. Why does that not surprise me?

I guess we TRIED to hurt all those other geeks that were dropping like flies (in the announcer’s words) on Saturday?? What a JOKE! They got hurt because they hadn’t played a team all year that knew how to tackle. Sorry, the truth hurts.

Yes, Tebow will be moving on, but there is relief in sight for you. John Brantley will terrorize the dawgs for the next two years. One last thought, becareful what you wish for,
Both the Gators and dawgs will pick up Alabama for 2010 and 2011. I have a feeling the Gators will fare far better against them than you will.

Go Gator,
I hope when you lose Charlie Strong this year, and most of your defense, that Brantley can carry the team on his shoulders even though he has never played a full quarter since Urban likes to keep Tebag in the game when FL is beating those 1-AA opponents 50-0 in the 4th quarter. No wonder he passed Herschel’s TD record. Dooley always pulled Herschel after the 3rd quarter when UGA was beating Florida 30-0 at half. Say what you want about your boy Brantley, but you have lost your mind if you think Florida will dominate teams with him at QB like they have with Tebow the last 3 years. Your Herschel Walker is about to leave and guess what? He’s not coming back.
Just remember, NO TEAM stays on top forever. Look at USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Miami. Heck, Alabama wasn’t crap after 1999 until last year. I hope you can take it as much as you and all the mullett heads dish it out. Urban has already lost one of the best OC’s to Miss State and soon will lose one of the best DC’s in Charlie Strong. Look what happens to all the programsUrban will eventually leave just like Spurrier did when he starts losing more than 2 games a year. Florida fans are spoiled and will force Urban out when he doesn’t win a BCS Title in the next 3 years if he wins his 3d this year.

Also Go Gator,
UGA doesn’t play Alabama again until 2012 and 2013. If you knew anything about SEC Football scheduling, you would know that the teams play a permanent opponent every year in the opposing division. UGA’s permanent opponent is Auburn. Florida’s is LSU. Then you play 2 teams in the opposing conference every 5 years home/away. UGA played AL in 2002 and 2003 both victories and in 2007-victory and 2008-loss. Since Tebow won’t be at Florida in 2010 and 2011, I wouldn’t bet against Alabama.
Why are you even on a UGA blog about our All-American punter anyway? Don’t you have to be trimming your cut-off blue jeans and bleaching your mullett for tomorrow night?
Get a freaking life, dude.

Texas A&M Starting Quarterback is 10-12 as a Starter in his career. Jerrod Johnson was redshirted his freshman year. Then,, in his sophomore year, he did not start the 1st game, and Texas A&M was beat by Arkansas State. At this point, he became the starter, as Texas A&M ended not in a bowl last year, either, at 4-7.
This year, Jerrod Johnson’s Junior year, Texas A&M has 1 of the nation’s top 6 Offenses in the nation with a trio of running backs including Jerrod Johnson and a prolific passing offense.
This is not a good match-up for our secondary, apparently still coached by Willie Martinez.
Texas A&M has 1 of the worst special teams in the nation.
Texas A&M also has the worst defense in the nation at NCAA Rank Number 107 Total Defense and NCAA Rank 105 Scoring Defense.
+/- Over/Under on this game will be 100 points.
Texas A&M is Number 87 SoS at 57 wins by their opponents and 66 losses. My God, their Strength of Schedule is worse than Georgia Tech, if that is possible. Texas A&M’s SoS is better than Duke, Boise State, and BYU.
This will hurt UGA’s SoS at NCAA Rank Number 6 right now, our opponents are 67-45.
57-66 Texas A&M opponents. SoS # 87.
67-45 UGA opponents. SoS # 6.
vols’ SoS is Number 44.
Georgia Tech’s SoS is Number 49.
Outback Bowl is a rogue bowl. Something must be done with the Outback, every year now, picking 1st in The SEC.
As the Number 29 team in the BCS Rankings, and Number 17 in the Jeff Sagarin BCS Poll, Number 21 Kenneth Massey BCS Poll and as the Number 24 Anderson-Hester Seattle Times’ Poll, The University of Georgia deserved the 4th best SEC Bowl Game. Our SoS at Number 6 in the nation is better than all the other SEC teams except for Arkansas whom we beat.
BCS # 29 UGA.
BCS # 30 Arkansas.
BCS # 32 Ole Miss.
BCS # 35 South Carolina.
BCS # 44 vols.
BCS # 48 Auburn.
BCS # 51 Kentucky.
And, Auburn gets the 1st SEC pick ?
B.S.
Also, that is not good for The SEC.
The SEC is going to lose bowl games this year, because the match-ups are all wrong.
Totally wrong for The SEC.
This bowl season will be very bad for The SEC, compared to last year for example, when the bowls were legitimate picks pitting SEC top teams against other conference top teams, who played no one. And, pitting the bottom picks of The SEC against the bottom picks of other conferences, who played no one.
Auburn’s NCAA Strength of Schedule is not even in the Top 25.
We beat Auburn.
Auburn is not in the Top 25 of any poll. UGA is in the Top 25 of 3 Polls before we play our bowl game, with an outside slim chance now playing Texas A&M at 6-6 against a weak SoS in the seriously down Big XII Conference, for UGA to continue the longest streak in the nation of being Ranked in the Final AP Poll now every year starting 1997.
We needed to play a Wisconsin and beat them, or a Virginia Tech and beat them, both of whom UGA would have beat.
This is the other part of the B.S. BCS.
1st please note that the BCS Public Relations’ Director states that the BCS is the best possible arrangement to assure that # 1 and # 2 play each other.
Excuse me, there are 120 teams.
34 Bowl Games.
BCS does nothing else but pit # 1 and # 2.
Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee.
Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee determines who will play in what bowl if there is a breakdown in the bowl selecting on their own.
I would say that UGA should appeal to The Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee today, before the bowl bids are Official tomorrow.
We’d have a better bowl game if they just simply put all the bowls in one hat and all the teams in another hat, and drew a name from the bowls’ hat and 2 from the teams’ hat.

Congratulations Alabama. Your 22nd SEC Championship.

I Guaranteed Alabama was the better football team than Florida, who played no one and ran up its stats playing no one.
Florida played 1 ranked team all season long, Number 13 LSU and beat them 13-3. Other than that, Florida beat no Ranked Team.

29 percent of the Georgia Tech Student Body are women.
29%.
Women were not allowed to take all classes at the Georgia Institute of Technology until 1968.
The 1st Georgia Tech Women’s dormitory was not until 1969.
Georgia Tech, according to the AJ-C only, is a Top National University.
However, in fact, Georgia Tech is the Number 35 Top National University, about what the top ACC school is ranked in the AP Poll in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and that is NOT GEORGIA TECH.
Number 35.
“We’re Number 35.”
No one claims to be Number 35 at nothing.
Crime continues to be the Number 1 problem on Campus.
This last weekend again, another DOZEN Georgia Tech students were victims of robbery inside their own living quarters.
When Tech students venture outside their home, they are attacked and have their laptop computers stolen from them on the streets of their own campus.
29% women at Georgia Tech is the MOST UNBALANCED STUDENT BODIES of ALL NATIONAL UNIVERSITIES.
Women do not feel SAFE at Georgia Tech, and never have been safe at Georgia Tech.
This is the fact.
71 percent of the Tech students are men.
College of Liberal Arts is the fastest growing Georgia Tech college, yet Tech football fans act as if this does not even exist at Georgia Tech. Sure it does. It is the only college at Georgia Tech that actually leads the way in growth, but even here, the women make up only 29 percent of the student body at Georgia Tech.
Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts ?
That what you want ?
Georgia Tech offers such a degree.
Georgia Tech students are heavily stressed and avail themselves of no social functions.
Stress is mostly from the crime on campus.
Stress also from the fact that Georgia Tech is now no longer as SELECTIVE in its ENROLLMENT as at UGA, for example. It is more likely that a student who applies to Georgia Tech will be accepted, than if he applies to The University of This Great State. And, the women are not about to go to Georgia Tech.
Never have.
Never will. It’s not safe and daddy would not let them go after he visits the slums of a city of 6 million, where the Tech campus is in fact located.
Tech should sell the land downtown and move to Gwinnett, as the AJ-C has recently done, with it now quicker for AJ-C reporters to get to UGA than to get to Georgia Tech.
PRINCETON REVIEW now reports that Georgia Tech students are the LEAST HAPPY STUDENTS ON ANY CAMPUS AT ANY NATIONAL UNIVERSITY IN THE ENTIRE NATION.
“GETTING OUT” is what Georgia Tech students use as the phrase when they no longer are on the crime-ridden non-female campus.
21 percent of the Georgia Tech student body are in the Greeks. Buy your friends.
CRIME
Minor crimes around Georgia Tech are commonplace, a reflection of the Institute’s densely populated urban surroundings. The most common crime reported over the last few years, by a large margin, is larceny. Between 2004 and 2006, there were only 32 violent crimes reported, most of them robberies. That the crime rate in Atlanta during the late 1980s and 1990s was the highest in the nation, is what has contributed so highly to the perception that Georgia Tech sits in the middle of the slums of one of the world’s worst crime-ridden areas. Yet, we are to send our children there, especially our girls. Yeah, right.
LARGELY IGNORED
Georgia Tech is largely ignored even in the city of Atlanta where it is located. Students on campus are surrounded by the city, but the city does little to assist the students, or even to protect them.
With 10 times as many graduates of The University of Georgia living in Atlanta than there are Georgia Institute of Technology graduates living in Atlanta, it seems as if everyone is against Georgia Tech, adding to the biggest stress of all college students being in fact on Georgia Tech students. The lone local paper, AJ-C, tries to assist with this when asked to by Georgia Tech administration chiefly during enrollment periods, by seeking to have folks say “Well, I live here in Atlanta, I might as well root for Georgia Tech and go to the Georgia Tech sports venues to support Tech’s teams.”
The only problem with that is that the student-athletes at Georgia Tech are nothing like the rest of the Tech students.
NOTHING LIKE THE REST OF THE TECH STUDENTS.
Tech student-athletes currently are ON PROBATION WITH THE NCAA in men’s basketball, with the NCAA LIMITING Georgia Tech to ONLY 11 scholarships currently because the Georgia Tech student-athletes in men’s basketball have the LOWEST ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE of all colleges in America.
NOT WHAT YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU THINK OF GEORGIA TECH.
Tech is supposed to be his great National University. Number 35.
Instead, the APR of Georgia Tech’s FOOTBALL team, men’s basketball team and women’s basketball team, are ALL LOWER than the APR for the student-athletes at UGA. And, UGA is FAR MORE SELECTIVE in applications to UGA both as a student-athlete and as a REGULAR STUDENT than is Georgia Tech ANY LONGER.
COMMON SENSE
Common Sense is lacking in the curriculum of Georgia Tech according to its own students. Anyone reading the spins in retort to this article here by me, will see that common sense is something that does not register with Tech students.
Does it make common sense to go to the WebPages of UGA 10 times the size of your local alumni and brag how you are going to utterly destroy a team you have LOST to 60 times, and then return a week afterward and state that you do not feel that a 6-point LOSS is UGA destroying Tech ? That is so obvious that you Georgia Tech fans, said that you would destroy UGA, wait a week before you have the pair to even come back, and then offer up after a week to think about, that oh well, a 6-point loss is not destroying Tech, you tell UGA fans. It is not that you are that stupid to say that, you just lack the common sense that UGA students have to see right through it, that it was you who said you would destroy us, while our common sense fails to see how a 6-point LOSS is destroying us as not we said, but you.
NERDS
Part of the reason why college life is supposed to be the happiest time of your life, is that you are challenged to think by others not like yourself. You are off away from home. You are confronted with opportunities to both better yourself and challenge yourself and opportunities in social growth by being surrounded as I, by 1000 women at Brumby Hall and 1,000 women at Creswell while I studied day and night at Russell Hall with a 1,000 men. At Tech, you are afraid to even go outside for all the crime. And, you are so stressed by the crime and the Georgia Institute of Technology with NO WOMEN at this critical juncture in your life that is supposed to be your happiest time in your life, as with UGA students on our beautiful campus, you end up without social graces as demonstrated on these WebPages by your every post.
LOCK YOUR DOORS.
Tech students even at Fraternities, lock their doors and do not even venture into the common areas.
UGA students are not like this, at all. Yet, we study as much if not more than Tech students.
So, what in the hell are the Tech students doing ?
There sure ain’t no women in there with them behind the locked doors.
The dating scene is dismal at best. And, it is not a good place for women, the number 1 stressed students in the nation of all National Universities, vastly Asian men, Nerds locked in their rooms doing God Knows What in what should be the happiest days of their life, and worrying stressing about the CRIME.
FRATS AND GREEKS.
Even the brothers at the Fraternities are stay largely to themselves and no one really interacts with anyone else, even in the Frats. The doors are LOCKED in the Frat Houses as well.
GEEKS and NERDS.
Greek Geeks are Nerds too, and although they drink, they largely even do that by themselves, locked behind their LOCKED DOORS in the Frat House by themselves.
WHAT IS THE WORST FACTOR ABOUT GEORGIA TECH ?
The social life.

UGA beat Georgia Tech 65-60 today on TV Channel 45 CSS. MaChelle Joseph and Georgia Tech still have never beaten The Lady Dawgs in Athens, ever. The all-time record stands at 3-29 for Georgia Tech against UGA women in basketball. The Georgia Women also have a higher ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE than Georgia Tech’s Women’s Basketball Team.
UGA looked like the smarter players today by causing 29 Turnovers by Tech’s women and by UGA going on a 13-2 run to end the game. UGA is in the Top 10 of the RPI and Georgia Tech is not in the Top 25 of any Poll. So far this season The Lady Dawgs have beat RPI # 4 Oklahoma, # 14 Rutgers and then # 21 Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech has beat no team in the Top 107 of the RPI.
On the men’s side, Georgia has a Winning Record against Paul Hewitt, who also not only has the worse APR in men’s basketball than UGA, but more importantly is on NCAA PROBATION for having a men’s ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE of 914, not only the lowest APR in the country, but also causing the NCAA to LIMIT GEORGIA TECH IN MEN’S BASKETBALL TO ONLY 11 SCHOLARSHIPS THIS SEASON.
Congratulations to MaChelle Joseph, who LAST YEAR WHEN SHE LOST TO ANDY LANDERS, had Andy Landers come up to her after the game and extend a handshake, only to see the battle-axe MaChelle Joseph just purposely walk by Andy Landers who has NEVER LOST to Georgia Tech in Athens EVER.
This year, after the defeat of Georgia Tech, MaChelle Joseph went ahead and shook Andy Landers’ hand.
Georgia Tech just has a hard time competing with The University of Georgia’s Athletic Department in ACADEMICS.
And, sports.
MaChelle Joseph had said before the game today, that beating Georgia at Georgia would be the defining moment of the Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball Program, today.
She isn’t any different than Paul Johnson and the women aren’t any different from the football players who were totally sure they would beat UGA before they played us, too. Defining Moment ? Why not wait until you beat UGA ever in women’s basketball in Athens, and then say it was the defining moment MaChelle instead of bragging pregame that it is before you actually ever have beat UGA in Athens in Women’s Basketball.
