A.J. Green in doubt for Tech game

Athens – Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green’s availability for Saturday’s game at Georgia Tech remains in doubt.

Georgia coach Mark Richt said this afternoon that Green has not yet regained sufficient strength or range of motion in his left shoulder, which he injured in the Nov. 14 game against Auburn.

“Right now, he’s still working on the strength and getting the soreness out,” Richt said. “He doesn’t have full range of motion right now. Sometimes these things can change quickly, and sometimes they don’t.”

Richt said a decision to play Green probably wouldn’t be made before game time, although a decision against playing him could come sooner.

“If he couldn’t have a full range of motion and run full speed and feel comfortable and confident by Thursday, it’d be very unlikely he’d play,” Richt said.

Green suffered a sprained joint in the shoulder in the first half of Georgia’s victory over Auburn and did not play in last week’s loss to Kentucky. He is the Bulldogs’ leading receiver with 47 catches for 751 yards.

Richt said safety Bacarri Rambo, who also missed the Kentucky game after suffering a concussion against Auburn, is more likely than Green to play at Tech. The plan is for Rambo to go full-speed at Wednesday’s practice for the first time since the concussion.

“We’re pretty confident Bacarri will [play Saturday],” Richt said.

I have to agree with GT23. UGA fans better watch for what they wish for. One tough year and it’s “fire the coach”. Give me a break – Richt has done lots of good things at UGA.

He’s done lot’s of good things overall but hasn’t done too many good things in Jacksonville.
You must win in Jacksonville to be legit….everyone knows that.

You cannot risk the potential multi million dollar career of a player over one game. If he is not ready he should not play.

Murfdawg– “Why do we need AJ when we run a draw play on 3rd and 10?”

Great question…only Bobo knows the answer to that one… Thanks for the chuckle!

The GT vs UGAy rivalry is back the way it use to be back in the day, with UGA having to come to the A-town, the land of the BUZZING BEES!! To all UGA fans, you can’t beat what you can’t catch. GT will BUZZ all over dem Dawgs.

In regards to AJ Green, sorry about the injury, but it doesn’t matter if he plays or not, UGA will still lose because of your suspect QB. Don’t y’all have a Freshman phenom ready to play? I know y’all miss Stafford and Marino now huh? Honestly, I wouldn’t risk his shoulder because, trust me, it will get worse. Don’t let Derrick Morgan or Morgan Burnett get a hold of Green, just a WARNING!!

Well, I look forward to this matchup for bragging rights in the state of Georgia. Good luck to both teams, but TO HELL WITH UGA!!

GO TECH!! ALL THE WAY TURNED UP!!!!

Come on Dawgs. Give us one good game that the fans will remember. Georgia always played like their hair was on fire. What happened?

And no, don’t play AJ if he is hurt!

UGA fans,
Thank you for the preemptive bashing of Saint Simons, who truly annoys tech fans probably even more than UGA fans. He makes us all look bad. Please don’t think all techies are tools like him. We may be dorks, but we’re not morons. Saint Simons, I don’t know where you are, but please stay in remission.
Signed,
Tech fan who enjoys GOOD natured banter

I agree that it probably wont matter if he plays our not. We showed against auburn that we have plenty of other talented guys. Dont get me wrong aj is the best player we have besides drew butler but thats just because he gets the ball more. It is real important that rambo is back. Evans is one of the worst safeties or corners i have ever seen. think of how many plays he has ever really made compared to penalties and getting burnt. We need a quarterback and a better defensive backfield and we will be just fine. oh and fire willie

AJ will play and score at least 3 touchdowns in the coming route of GT. It is the difference in minor league play and major league play. GT will not be playing an unprepared UGA team this year. They are going to crush and AJ will shine as usual.

GT Big Boss-

“GO TECH!! ALL THE WAY TURNED UP!!!!”

You are probably referring to the rap song ‘All the way turned up’. I’m not sure why you use that phrase ‘All the way turned up’ like Tech owns it or as if it is unique to Tech, because the song has been played all season at UGA games and probably numerous other colleges as well. But it’s just like Tech fans to have one season to be proud of every now and then and think they own the place!

GO DAWGS! “ALL THE WAY TURNED UP!”

The only thing we need to look at is if Ga. wins 50 to 49 dont let CMR brag on Willie and the defense. CWM has got to go if not you are looking at a great team next year going 7-5. The talent is there and more coming, they need a coach and it’s Marks place to get him.

I hope he plays. Take the excuses away. I don’t want to hear, ” We lost because AJ didn’t play”. I had rather hear we fumbled too much, we had too many penalties, we missed too many tackles, we threw too many interceptions, Willie’s defense looked like a deer in headlights. Boo-Boos’s offense sucked.

DO NOT risk further injury to AJ. If the other highly recruited receivers can’t do the job, it can’t be done.
