ATHENS — One day after Georgia junior linebacker Rennie Curran acknowledged that Saturday’s game against Kentucky could be his last in Sanford Stadium, junior safety Reshad Jones said: “I’ll probably have similar thoughts as Rennie.”
Jones, who like Curran is eligible to enter the 2010 NFL draft, said he’ll weigh the possibility after Georgia’s season.
Jones said he’ll ask the NFL draft advisory committee, which provides underclassmen with assessments of their draft potential, for an evaluation.
“I’m going to send my [paperwork] in and see what I get back from there,” Jones said Wednesday. “The most accurate way of making my decision is . . . to see what they think and what prediction they have.
“I say it’s kind of 50-50 right now,” he added, “until I get my [report] back where I can make a solid decision.”
Jones flirted with entering the 2009 NFL draft but decided at the last hour to stay in school.

I am a Gator Hater just like all Dawg fans but this is the reason that I respect Tim Tebow he completed his commitment. What ever happened to the “Team First ‘ ME SECOND mentality I personally believe that our players do not have the heart and everyone is out for themselves. If they want to go I say good lets go get someone with heart who wants to be a Team Player

Rennie has fabulous instincts against the run, but I question his pass coverage instincts, which seem to be nil. As a linebacker, being able to read the QB’s eyes to break towards the ball just before the throw seems a key ingredient, and Rennie, as much as I love him, seems to break after the ball is in the air, which is way too late. If he is drafted early, somebody must believe they can teach him a capability that he’s never shown for UGA. Pass coverage for UGA in general has been so very weak. I’m amazed anybody in that defensive secondary would think they have any prospects beyond flipping burgers.

If this is the second year in a row Jones is looking to leave, then get the hell outta here! You may be a prime of example of CWM ability not to coach up talent, but if you don’t wanna be in Athens and you have one foot out the door then you are not committed to the program. Curran is not leaving. No way, he is a nice college player, but he is not going to be drafted in the top 2 rounds of the draft.
I also must ask, what is the mood in Athens? When we do have talented Juniors it seems as if the cannot wait to get out of Athens? Meanwhile you have the Spikes, Tebow’s of the world who wanna come back and win Titles. Where is the loyalty to the University of Georgia?

Unfortunately, Rennie is too small to play much in the NFL, and Reshad is just plain bad. I am not sure why neither can be a little more loyal to UGA.

Are you serious….I know Prince Miller and Bryan Evans are out of eligibility and now you are telling me that we may be rid of Reshad Jones too? Man this may be a great off-season. This kid has looked lost since he stepped onto campus. He will get burned three or four times then he will make a good hit with us down by 3 touchdowns and get up and dance and taunt the opposing player. What a d@#n loser. Good riddance. Now just take Willie with you and this off-season will be complete

Rashad sucked his entire career at Georgia. Let him go! He will be a bust in the NFL. In fact take Bryan Evan with you and let the young guys try. Rennie has not has a good year. I would like for him to saty because I dont think he is going to be a great linebacker in the NFL, but he has a better shot to be good in the pros. If he stay, great. If he goes, good luck. Georgia needs new fresh blood. I am ready to just strip the entire defens3e apart anyway so who really cares.

All these top players on D should go to the NFL—one more year with martinez will hurt their draft stock. I’ve heard that richt is planning no changes on defense.

Really Reshad? You think you are NFL caliber talent?
You better play one more year and start performing up to your talent level. You look great getting off the bus but when the opposition repeatedly burns you on long pass plays your stock goes tumbling faster than Goldman Sachs.
Regardless of what happens to the coaching situation, stay in school or be another Major Harris.

The entire concept of “student athlete” has become a farce, especially at the University of Georgia. Underclassmen should not be allowed to go to the NFL at all and that is what has ruined Georgia’s team this year. Something must be done because College Football is becoming the equivalent of the Minor Leagues of MLB.

Unfortunately, the mindset of these players is all too common….visions of millions dancing in their heads! Not going to happen. Please tell me what NFL team would draft either one. They are average college players and certainly not “impact” players that the NFL is looking for. Once they leave UGA, with no degree, and do not get drafted, what is Plan B? Haven’t even considered that!! This is another repetition of the endless cycle of poor life choices. But you say they can always get their degree…right, they can. The key is will they? Not likely.

I love the Dawgs, but neither Curran nor Jones are ready for the NFL. Let’s not forget that if Rambo had not come over and broken up the Auburn pass (when he got hurt,) the receiver had the catch that likely would have led to the tying score, and it was…………..right in front of guess who? Jones.
As for Rennie, I love him but he is NOT ready for the NFL and may never start in the NFL.

Curran again leads our team with 94 tackles and our only fumble recovery of the year.
Jones is 2nd behind Curran with 53 tackles and 2 interceptions.
Replacing Curran will be hard to do, Several d-backs in line for Jones position that will step up and play and do well.
UGA’s defense will be all youngsters in 2010, Boykin, B. Smith, Rambo, Cornelius Washington,
Got alot of holes to fill on the D-line too with 3 lineman being seinors, should be interesting.
I think both are gone to the NFL though, If Curran don’t make the 1st round he should go early in the 2nd. As for Jones, If Asher Allen can get drafted Jones shouldn’t have a problem either, just don’t think he’ll go that high in the draft. His size will help him alot, NFL may put some lbs. on him and make a linebacker out of him.
Good luck to both.

Reshad Jones turning pro? WHY? He hasn’t done anything and he sure hasn’t proved anything!!! Rambo was outplaying him. Reshad Jones doesn’t like to hit hard. He can’t cover. Willie Martinez has not prepared him for the pros. Jones isn’t even close to being ready to turn pro. He will go late in the draft if he is even drafted.

Reshad Jones is typical of Richt’s recruits. They are a bunch of selfish players that put themselves way above the team. The depth of personal quality of Richt’s players has really sunk in the last few years. Reshad Jones will not go very high in the NFL draft. He may not be drafted at all. He hasn’t done anything draft worthy.

From a Dawg fan to the “Dawg fans” ragging on these KIDS. You make the Bulldog Nation look horrible. I;m guessing most of you jumped on the bandwagon about 5 or 6 years ago and don’t get it. If you did please jump off and don’t forget to tuck and roll when you hit the ground. We don’t need ro want your “support.”
R Jones and R Currin, do what you need to do. I’ll miss the bone jarring hits by Jones and the great tenacity and ball hawking instincts of Currin.

Those of you who think Rashad and Rennie are eying the pros because they think Willie will be back are morons. He is their coach, they actually do like him… unlike us in the Dawg nation. If anything, this is a good sign that they probably know Willie is out the door and they may not want to play under a new DC for their senior seasons in fear that changing the scheme would hurt their draft stock. Just my opinion

As bad as #9 has been in hids UGA career, he still has the talent ant the measurables. THe sad thing is, once drafted, Jones will most likely be a Pro-Bowler by yera 2 or 3. All it would take is the more than adequate coaching he would recive in the NFL; unlike the clowns at UGA. JOnes would be drafted ahead of Curran; most likely a second rounder.

We all want the Juniors to stay because we are selfish. We know they give us a better chance to win. Having said that, it is their decision to do what is best for them. Also when you look at Staff and Moreno last year. We were in agreement that Staff should have stayed while #24 went pro. We knew #24 was ready, and that there was only so tread to be left on the tires. Staff , we thought needed that one more year to improve, but I understood that hell, he was the overall #1 pick. Staff jnew that and that is why he left.
When you look at , look at Jones and Curran. Jones will be drafted ahead of Curran. Simple reason 6′2 215 4.5 40. He has the tools, and with NFL coaching he will prosper. As for for Curran, he should come back. My reason for this is he is facing a huge battle because of his size. He will need to excell in all facets of his game, just to get noticed. And we all know he needs to work on his pass coverage, and I would also say field awareness in the open field. But in the end, how could you argue with either one going pro?

My biggest question is this……how many people outside the SEC have heard of these players. Neither will go in the first round……..Jones will be lucky if he makes All-Conference. The truth is we live in money driven society. If you were 20-22 years old and given a chance to make a lot of money what would you do? They will probably both leave knowing that UGA has no chance to win it all. I am not a Gator fan, but you have to admire Tebow and Spikes’ loyalty to UF…..I will be surprised if Jones and Curran are back for UGA.

Jones may be the dumbest dawg of all time. He’s been here 4yrs and doesnt have a clue what to do when the ball is in the air. He’s been out of position for all 3yrs he’s played. The only player that would be considered worse than him right now plays right beside him. Bryan Evans. How has he held down a starting spot for 3 years? He is the worst tackler we have ever had.
