Curran’s last game between the hedges?

Athens –- Saturday’s game against Kentucky will be the last in Sanford Stadium for 23 seniors on Georgia’s football team. Might it also be the last game between the hedges for junior linebacker Rennie Curran?

“It’s bound to run through my head once or twice,” Curran said Tuesday.

Curran is eligible to enter the 2010 NFL draft, and while he said he hasn’t made a decision on whether to leave school early, he left no doubt that he plans to seriously consider the possibility.

“It’s definitely a tough call,” Curran said. ““I have to sit down with my family. It’s something I have to pray about. . . . I’m just going to try to make the most informed decision and the smart decision.

“Honestly, I’m not leaning any way at all, because I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

A “huge” consideration, he said, is his 14-month-old daughter, Eleana, who lives in Gwinnett County.

“I’m not the normal college student,” Curran said. “Having her and seeing her and not being able to take her out and provide for her, it really weighs down on me, being a father and not being able to spend that time with her because I’m in college. I definitely want to be able to provide for her. She’s my heart. That’s definitely something that I think about in terms of that decision.”

Then, with a bright and proud smile, Curran pulled out his mobile phone and showed off a video taken Monday of him and his daughter.

In the end, Curran’s decision might come down to whether he senses that his draft status –- and earnings potential -– could benefit significantly from a senior season in college.

“That’s another thing that makes the decision even harder, when you think about . . what your weaknesses are and whether those weaknesses can be improved by another year,” Curran said. “Things like my height, I know, are not going to change.”

His height, which Georgia  lists at 5-11, is the most common argument against his NFL potential.

Get real….Rennie ain’t NFL material. He is too short and too slow. He ain’t showed me much this year and ain’t none of the Dogs showed me to much this year. I think Coach Rickt will be gone after next year and will go to Florida State when Bobby retires and will probably be a asistant head coach because they already have Jim Bo Fisher as the named head coach at Florida State. We will be lucky to beat Kentucky but I think Tech will roll over us because the Dogs ain’t showed me to much this year. I hope I am wrong but Rennie wont be going to the NFL. He needs to get his education finished and then he can get a job after he finishes playing for the Georgia Bulldawgs.

He’s one of my favorite players but it seems like he’s had a bit of a down year this season. Anyway, he’s probably gone but I hope he comes back. A great year next year would definitely benefit him in the long run. Either way, best wishes to a great Bulldawg!

Crazy Dawg…..your name suits you. There isn’t one LB in the state of georgia that could come to UGA and take Rennie’s job at LB…not one. If you think there is then, like I said, your name suits you. And Ricky, talking about having babies out of weblock….you are a freaking moron…..how many white people leave children in divorces…tons!! So use your head for more than a hat rack before you speak… I’m white, but white people are just as bad, because they may get married, but over 50% divorce….so stop looking at one side….and I bet you wouldn’t have the balls to step in Rennie’s face and question his fatherhood…….but i would like to see it!

This year’s draft is going to be deep at most positions, including LB. He might get drafted higher next year depending on the NFL’s labor situation but either way he is going to be a solid nfl player for many years. Heck, he’s taller than Sam Mills and he was frickin’ awesome.

Topp Dogg- yes, Spikes stayed and it was a HUGE mistake. If he was being absolutely honest today he would admit that he regrets coming back. The dude could be starting in the nfl, instead he’s playing Charleston Southern and Florida Intl- what a huge waste of time. Gainesville is fun but so is every nfl city when you’re a player.

So are we saying that a 6′4 LB has a better chance of making a tackle than a 5′8 LB? Logically, it doesn’t equate. One reason why Rennie is amoung the leading tacklers in the SEC is his low center of gravity, he has the ability to cut on a dime, most taller LB’s doesn’t have that ability, and the fact that because of his short stature, he’s harder to find by FB’s seeking to block him behind DL & OL that are as tall as 6′6, and difficult for a 6′6 to block a 5′8 player. I do agree that a taller LB would be more valuable in passing situations, because NFL quarterbacks are more accurate passers.

Rennie needs to go be Jessie Tuggle – don’t risk an injury – I’m a big UGA fan, but we gotta think what is best for him. Can anybody say “Jeff Luc”?

Again, Ricky….go find Rennie Curran on the UGA campus, I’m sure he’s not hard to find and tell him your concerns about him having a daughter out of wedlock……I bet Rennie wouldn’t miss the tackle he would put on you…..LOL, It amazes me how people have alot of mouth behind the confines of their computer….

Whatever. He’s not that good anyway. I’d be willing to bet he won’t make an NFL team.

People amaze me about the whole degree thing as a reason not to go to the pros early. How much does a a year or so of college cost now? Some of you act as though players have no chance of completing their degree. Newsflash,if he signs a decent contract he should have plenty of $$$ to finish his degree, and contrary to popular belief many atheletes take advantage of the PEP and do in fact get their degrees. Not sure where UGA ranks currently, but I know a few years ago UGA consistently ranked in the top 5 in that category. If he’s projected as a 1-3rd rounder then he should probably go, any lower he should come back to raise his stock.
Either way, Rennie has been a class act and deserves all the best regardless of his descision.
Go Dawgs!!

Lets all hope and Pray that Reshad Jones leaves. He is one of the worst cover safeties in College Football. Right behind Bryan Evans. That will leave Jakar Hamilton and Rambo as our projected safeties. Can not wait!

We hope you’ll stay and learn from a new D-Coordinator next year Rennie. That said, the NFL wouldn’t want 11 guys your size on the field at once, but on the right team your hussle and effort will serve well.

I feel for Rennie’s family situation. But, I think he would improve his status (and abilities) by staying and graduating. We have some of the best defensive coaches in the country, believe it or not. He will gain in stature if he stays.

Go Dawgs!

“ Wes Bunting of NationalFootballPost.com lists Dwyer, a junior, as the best running back on the board and the No. 8 overall NFL prospect. Bunting called Dwyer “a violent runner who exhibits good vision between the tackles and has the initial burst to separate from defenders at the second level.”

There must be some mistake. Dwyer plays in that “gimmick”, “high school”, “triple option” system that no blue chip recruit with aspirations of playing in the NFL would ever consider………………Hahahaha. Some dog nation bloggers on here are wrong about absolutely everything. See you azzholes on the 28th and bring all those top 5 recruiting classes with you! LOL.

Too Short “They said that about him in high school”
Won’t Make It “They said that about him in high school also”
Not Good Enough “But good enough to be #1 in SEC his first year and #2 his second year.”
I understand some don’t want him to go. But I don’t understand the fans that would turn against him for making a wise decision. Who would not take a chance at a dream if the chance presented itself?

I wonder what is going to be said after he makes it in the NFL. (We can all wait and see if he decides to go early)…
