Another sign of Ealey’s progress

Washaun Ealey fell just shy of his goal of his first 100-yard rushing game for Georgia on Saturday. But Ealey’s performance against Auburn was good enough for him to be named the SEC Freshman of the Week today.

Ealey led Georgia with 98 rushing yards on 18 carries and scored a touchdown in the 31-24 victory over Auburn.

Ealey, whose progress has been a late-season highlight for Georgia, has led the Bulldogs in rushing in each of the past four games — 71 yards vs. Vanderbilt, 70 vs. Florida, 89 vs. Tennessee Tech and 98 vs. Auburn. Since making his debut against LSU in the fifth game of the season, Ealey has 379 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Against Auburn on Saturday, he had six carries for 36 yards in a third-quarter touchdown drive that he capped with a 1-yard run to put the Bulldogs ahead 17-14, their first lead of the night.

And on a four-play, 39-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown drive that broke a 24-24 tie and provided the margin of victory, Ealey carried three times for 15 yards before Caleb King scored on a 24-yard run.

The O-line is also starting to GATA a little better than before as well. That combined with hard running is a nice combination.

So what happened to Samuels? Is he relegated to the bench now? Is he playing any special teams in hopes of the start of his LB career?

We’ll need a running game against UK for sure. GO DAWGS!!!

If he’s not already on there, Samuels needs to be put on kickoff coverage at the very least. If he’s not starting at RB, he needs to be contributing somewhere.

Tech plays Duke, has a coach named “Johnson”, lives in the ACC, fails to fill their miniature stadium, and is playing in a semi-championship game that even the original host city (Jax) no longer wants….Does this sound like a program on the way up or a place that is a “destination” program? You know as I do that we are watching this season’s comet…QUICK LOOK FAST that was it, it’s gone.

I’m starting to think Saint Simons has either hacked the AJC, in which case he/she should go to jail, or is actually one of the moderators or writers at the AJC. How else could he/she/it comment first on every article unless they sit in front of their computer literally all day, every day. If that is true, Saint Simons, you’re either a child, unemployed, retired (which would be really sad if you’ve decided to spend the rest of your life doing this), or a homeless person who lives at the library and uses their computers until someone calls the cops and has you removed. From your disgusting sexual comments in the past, I’m thinking the latter. Care to explain yourself??

Ealy seems to have that “it” factor similar to Knowshon. He makes a loss of yardage play end up in a 1-2 yard gain. Then he finds the hole and doesn’t run up the linemans back.

I didn’t think coming in that he did and thought of him more of a Richard Samuel type. By the way is Samuel still on the roster? Looks like a middle linebacker after all. Go DAWGS!

Ealey rocks. He ran for more td’s and yards than Knowshn Moreno or Herschel Walker in High Schoool, 133 td’s, and over 8000 yards. He is averaging over 5 yards a carry and got us going several times in the game when things were negative.

When Richt gets a 100 yard rusher, he has 38 wins and only 3 losses.

That would be a great running 1-2-3 punch. 6-4 Green, 6-4 Brown and 6-5 Durham at WR so should be a great receiving core next year with our young blossoming TE’s. Who will step up at QB? Mr Richt is either the worse coach in the sec or he’s deliberately trying to hurt the program. We all know that Cox is a terrible qb but Mr Richt rather let him throw interceptions than to keep the ball on the ground and let Ealey do his thing. It is crazy for him to keep switching rbs when Ealey is performing so well. He switch rbs every other play. It’s a good thing he wasn’t the hc when Herschel Walker played. Believe me, we would not have won a national championship in 1980 if Mr Richt was the hc.

I can go on and on about the bad decisions he has made with that program. The man makes me sick!

It takes a real man to be a running back in the SEC and maybe just maybe the Pups are figuring it out that you run hard and find the holes and run hard again. As for A,J Green I don’t really expect him to be around next year so our young receivers need to grow up now and go get some balls. Go away GT we’ll see you in a couple of weeks, we owe you one

I keep reading all these criticisms of CMR and how he should play the freshman QB or the the freshman CB,Safety, RB, etc. You know, the coaches see these guys everyday in practice for several weeks and are
professional coaches. They know a heckuva lot more about football than some guy working in the office all day who probably has never seen Murray throw a football, etc. My point is, let the coaches do their job and get back to work.

I think Ealey has the “IT” factor, I think he has that kind of drive an determination that you can’t coach. He’s getting over 5 yards per carry, but I think that will go up quite a bit as he gets more touches and playing time. If Bobo starts giving Ealey the ball 20+ times a game, Georgia will be on its way to the Natl’ Championship. Ealey has earned the right to get the ball 20 times. Give the man the ball, let’s see if he’s the REAL DEAL?

Remember, Richt wins 38 out of 41 games when he gets a 100 yard rusher, that’s a 11-1 or 12-0 season every year folks.

100 yard rusher = 93% win % for Richt = Natl’ Championship.

Green cant turn pro until after next year. I still think Samuel at defensive end would solve the problem of no pressure on the QB. For the people that say Gray on the punt return is poor coaching is just plain dumb. He has the best hands and is not back there to return the punt. He is back there only when we expect a short punt that will come down around our 10. He is there to call a fair catch and not drop the ball. Why don’t you folks pay some attention before you start talking?

Upside is huge, but if he slows up in effort or coasts on his High School or past laurels–he’ll just go down as a High School legend—another guy with BIG UPSIDE that never REALIZED IT. Time will tell. Ealey, I think you’ll get better in ypc, explosion plays as Bob gives you 20+ touches a gem. You’ve earned that right once. Go earn it every game! Here are some records that are about to fall, thanks to Ealey, if Bobo will give him a chance (25+ carries a game):

1) Herschel’s 5.29 career yards per carry average (this one will be SHATTERED–Ealey’s at 5.2 now ONLY becuase he’s been rotating in games like Tenn Tech where he was averasging 12.7 yards per carry–he’d be at 6.0 ypc if he’d been the 1 back like Herschel was )

2) Herschel’s 49 td’s (will fall in the next 30 games if Ealey stays healthy and if Bobo gives him 25 touches a game–he needs to score a TD every 15 touches–ealey had 2 td’s in 7 touches against Tenn Tech)

3) Herschel’s 285 yards in one game (will be SHATTERED–Ealey was averaging 12 ypc before he was benched during the Tenn Tech game, he was on track for a 490 yard game with the 39 runs Bobo called)

godawgs

November 20th, 2009

P.S. of the 13 guys who broke Herschel’s high school rushing yards record, none of the RB’s had a great college career. Why? They thought they’d already achieved every goal. They focused on their PAST STATS. The drive was gone. The hunger evaporated after breaking that record.

Ealey COULD be different. bUT….He’ll need to set new goals to be HIS BEST at this level, just as he was in High School. Like Walker, they both came from small A schools where nobody thought they were the real deal. Walker proved his critics were DEAD WRONG! I think Ealey will Shatter some of Walker’s records if he ONLY COMPETES WITH HIMSELF. Like all the great ones, Jerry Rice, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, I sense Ealey has it. Watch and see–you are about to experience SHOCK AND AWE!

Ealey had a 55 yard explosion run on his 8th rush. It was called back by a penalty. Still had a nice game. Great 9 yard run by the goal-line. That 55 yard run WOULD have brought his ypc average to 6.9 for this game. Oh well, it’s still a 5.0 ypc average for the season. Ealey looked a little tired in the 4th Qrtr. Look for Ealey to improve his conditioning in the off-season. Jerry Rice was known for his off season conditioning. Jerry always looked as fresh in the 4th Qrtrt as the 1st.

I traveled the country during the summer following my son playing baseball witnessing him and his teammates live a dream representing the state of Ga. and all I heard was how much people loved us and they thought we were a football state, we are! Tech has had great players come through and now some awesome freshman waiting their turn, and the Dawgs have had greats and some exciting freshman playing & waiting to play. We enjoy a treasure most of the country dreams about. My highlights: Tech-Shawn Jones 1990 season & Hamilton’s career, Dogs-Butler’s fieldgoal attempt at Clemson, Belue to Scott TD, meeting Hershel his senior year high school winning high point award for track then watching as a freshman dominate SEC. Best moment: Spending the day with Coach Bobby Bowden 84-85 1st Annual Citris Bowl. Let the war begin!

Great effort by Ealey to finish out his fresman year. 180+ yards, 9.1 ypc, on 20 carries. Excellent passblocking in this game too. No fumbles–terrific ball protection. Nice quickness and cuts. Beautiful 30+ yard explosion runs. Still needs work on conditioning in off season, performance dropped (ypc) as the game wore on.

Ealey brought the “shock and awe” tonight. I couldn’t take a break when he was in, you never know what’s going to happen when Ealey’s in the backfield.

Good job living up to the Ealey standard. Ealey can CRUSH Walker’s career 5.29 ypc average if he focuses on HIS BEST EFFORT and competing with himself.

Ealey has a bowl game to go. He’s at 5.7 yards per carry for the season, which is above Walker’s career average, a tad below Herschel’s Freshman average of 5.9. After the Bowl game, with another great effort, Ealey will finish over 6.0 ypc for hs freshman season: breaking Herschels best ypc average–Herschel’s freshman season.

Ealey showed the drive is there and his focus is about his future, and living up to his potential, and not about his past accomplishments. That’s the attitude of a Champion.

Records are about to fall. Mark it down.
