Monte Kiffin, Tennessee’s defensive coordinator, reached for the stars when discussing Georgia’s A.J. Green with reporters in Knoxville after practice Thursday.
“I’ll tell you what, Green is something else,” Kiffin was quoted as saying by the Knoxville News Sentinel and utsports.com. “He’s special now. I told our guys this: ‘Terrell Owens in his heyday, Randy Moss, that’s what this guy is.’ You just throw it up and he’ll go get it.”
Kiffin, the longtime NFL defensive mastermind and father of Tennessee’s head coach, added: “I do believe you can double guys, but it’s hard to do against [Georgia]. We don’t plan on doing it, because they’ll just go to the other side.”
He cited Tavarres King as a receiver who has “really come along,” but apparently had not heard that King suffered a concussion last week. Mark Richt has said “it’s very unlikely [King] will travel” to Knoxville. Kiffin also praised the pass-catching abilities of Georgia’s tight ends, Aron White and Orson Charles.
Green, by the way, is well ahead of his stellar 2008 pace. He led the SEC last season with an average of 74.1 receiving yards per game –- and is averaging a league-leading 105.4 yards per game this season. He caught eight touchdown passes last season and already has caught five this year.
– I was talking with Brandon Boykin a couple of days ago about his upcoming first trip to Tennessee’s large, loud, 100,000-seat Neyland Stadium.
“The only experience I’ve had with it is on video game,” said Boykin, Georgia’s sophomore cornerback.. “It’s always, like, the loudest stadium in the video game. I’m sure it’ll be like that in real life. I’m looking forward to it.”
Boykin, by the way, minced no words in discussing his bad decision to run an interception out of the end zone in the first quarter last week. He was tackled, as you know, on the 2-yard line.
“I should have kneeled with it; that’s as simple as it gets,” he said. “Initially, I thought I saw an opening. A couple of my teammates were telling me to get down, which I didn’t see, and some of the LSU players were engaging on me. I shouldn’t have brought it out. I should have kneeled.
“That’s my fault, totally. I take responsibility for that. It’s a learning experience, and I’ll get better from that, I’m sure. . . . It might have made a difference in the game. Little things like that can help win the game.”
– And finally, a couple of stats that might prove pertinent on Saturday:
Tennessee is the least penalized team in the SEC at 28.8 yards per game. Georgia is the second most penalized team in the league (74.6 yards per game), having yielded last place in that category to Arkansas (77.5).
Georgia remains last in the league in turnover margin (minus-9) by a wide margin. Tennessee is ninth at minus-4.

Brandon Boykin,
Thanks for standing up and being a man and taking responsibility for your own action. No excuses, no alibis just “I made the mistake and I’ll learn from it.” Thanks for doing what it seems your coaches are unable to do.
Take them to the wood shead Saturday.

Good to see that Boykin didn’t blame his mistake on the “wind”, the “angle of the bal”, or “too many young guys side-by-side.”
Wonder where he got the idea to just say the buck stops with him?

I thought the LSU would be a measuring stick for us ( DAWGS) but us at home, them Number 4 ( that is a joke, maybe 15 th) but we played them pretty close. Look For a shaky Tennessee team to be a measuring stick, plus we have had multiple break downs in all phases of the game at different times this year. Willie, please, they can’t throw. Run man coverage and pressure their QB EVERY play. Do not sit back in a soft zone and let this guy get well on us like Garcia did. When you got after LSU in the 3rd quarter, you shut them down. Make them prove they can pass on us….GATA.

I never thought that when Kiffin and Chizick’s hirings were announced that I’d prefer their coaching staff to ours by mid-season. Those penalty and turnover stats say it all. The UGA train has been careening for a couple years now – this may be the game that throws it off the tracks. You won’t find a bigger dawg fan than me, but I’m also realistic and can see this coaching staff for what it is – bad.

make me sick. “The UGA train has been careening for a couple of years now.” Really? We were pre-ranked #1 last year and could’ve done something with that if not for all of the injuries…having to start 2 true freshman on the OL. We knew this was the hardest schedule in the nation and a few losses were definitely a possibility. We’ve been in position to win every single game. Amazing how when things are great you run your mouth on here like all get out….which also makes me sick….then, as soon as things don’t go our way, you cry like a little baby and scream like you actually know how to coach football.
Go somewhere else fair weather fan because you’re not wanted around here. Every last one of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Talented and undisciplined, sums up the Mark Richt football team for 2009. This is HIS team and HIS coaches whelther he claims direct ownership or not. We have serious coaching issues that most likely will not consistently improve. I expect one or two outstanding games with the remaining schedule this year that will be used for examples to leave all the coaches in place.. In my opinion, we are like a two wheel driven car driving on wet Georgia red clay attempting to go up a hill(SEC conference). Folks, the tires are spinning but were slipping backwards down the hill! Keep the heat on fellow Donors.
AJ Green, you are the primarly reason we are not 0-5. The Dawg nation recognizes this fact. You are appreciated by all.

The people who say that we can’t criticize the team are as illogical as the ones who say you can’t question the President in times of war.
The Georgia Bulldogs are in trouble, people. We’re talented and undisciplined. Whose job is it to instill discipline? Coaches.
As a season ticket holder and alum, *MY MONEY* goes to pay the coaches’ salaries. Since I’m helping buy the groceries, I get to comment if the meal tastes like crap.
Right now, we’ve got great ingredients…but the meals aren’t coming out as well as they should. We don’t block well, we don’t tackle well, we don’t cover kicks well, we don’t return kicks well. I have no problem with anyone being a blind loyalist…that’s great.
I have no problem with our team going out, playing their butts off, and just losing because the other team was better. That’s not what happened Saturday in Athens or a month ago in Stillwater…or in 2 of the 3 losses last year. That’s on the coaches when the men in red and black underform and look lost.

Come on people & HBTD, we need folks like you guys on here. I’m not against a healthy debate about the team however the extremism on here about firings, etc. is almost comical. CMR has brought more success to this program since 1980 thru ‘83. How much different was Coach Dooley in 1980 versus some of the prior seasons when they did not have a great record? I wonder if folks think that maybe CVD’s staff was better during 80 – 83 than the previous days or after. There is potential talent level and talent level. If a player is unwilling or cannot execute how does a coach change that player other than not playing him? I think it really begins with recruiting and good or bad luck on who will flourish and who doesn’t. CMR has done a very good job in his tenure and am grateful that he and his staff are in Athens. I won’t stop supporting the Dawgs- good, bad, or indifferent. At the end of the day we’re actually debating about college children playing a competivie sport and earning a college degree to better society. Support these kids and the coaching staff regardless of your “opinions”. Besides who on this blog coaches in the SEC for a living?

We have a finesse’ football team, that simply can’t grind it out with the big boys. We may be faster than most teams and as talented if not more so at the skill positions than most but we will get beat in the trenches against the Vols. They will stop our run game, garaunteed. I suspect we get less than 80 yards rushing and that we won’t be able to sustain drives and keep the Vols running game off the field and our defense will wear down and by the 4th quarter, they will be gashing us pretty good. THis vol team was able to run on FLA who has everyone back on defense. THEy got behind early against Auburn(Auburn is physical and they can run it) and took away what they like to do offensively but came back and made it a ballgame late. Our best bet is to start strong on offense, perhaps throwing to loosen up the run game. But don’t think for a minute that we will run to loosen up the passing. I don’t like it but I see it Tenn 28-GA 14

I just read a quote from CMR regarding our kick-off team that disturbs me. He said the 10 guys on that team are not “getting after it”, I guess he means the kids are not playing are practicing hard.
Well how about this idea CMR. Sit all 10 of those players on the damn bench and put 10 more guys in who want to be on the field! Do you think the elite coaches in this country would put up with this crap??? How many games are we going to lose before he realizes what a joke Coach Fabris is? I’m scared to see what happens Sat.

I have been supporting, particularly Willie, for the last 3 years. Only he continues to put a mediocre and inconsistant defense on the field. Our Defense has issued statistics that go back to the 60’s, bad statistics at that.
I am not a bandwagon fan. I am a real fan. I really like CMR, but we do need a new DC. People who understand football from an X and O point of view , and can also see our lack of discipline. That starts with coaching. Our DC does not coach up these 4 and 5 star recruits to their full potential. Thats a fact. Just compare other 4 and 5 star recruited players around the SEC on other Defenses. Nuff Said!!

Supported Enough,
YOU are correct. CMR is a good coach. Fabris and Willie are not. They need to go. IF CMR cant do that, eventually he will also.
I understand that you cant win every game….but you cant be a disciplined and prepared team each week. We have not been that for the past 2-3 years. If it werent for our recruits, we would average only 7-8 wins a year.
The point of good recruiting is to keep pace atheleticly with everyone else. And we are. We just are not being coached to the level of the better SEC teams. Anyone who has watched UGA football for as long as I have can see that.

Supported Enough & Jaglaw, I am not criticizing you guys. Just some of the comments. It is very easy to sit back and look at the weaknesses in the program especially when we are not in the meetings & on the field with the coaches and players. It is hard to tell if a freshman like Moreno or whomever will fourish. We don’t know all the info on how he may have even acted when he was a freshman. I am not saying b/c kids go pro is the reason the Dawgs will lose a few games. There are many things that attribute to that. Again, I think it begins with recruiting and making the best assessment of the kids coming in. It’s kind of hard to coach up a player that doesn’t want to be or relies on singular effort rather than team effort. It’s definitely a gamble sometimes. In 2002 when we won the SEC we could have very well lost to Auburn on the last second play Greene made with Johnson but ended up champs. Joe Cox is a mediocre QB and our receivers are very young. Caleb King and Samuel haven’t lived up to their High school hype, at least so far. On D, the secondary is young too. The CB’s are athletic but small. We do not have a DE that has blazing speed off the edge like we did when Howard played or even when Pollack was here. Special teams needs work also but again if you have read my comments you can see how recruiting and gambling plays the major role. Not every team in the SEC will win the champ. It’s a gamble sometimes. I believe the kids will gel better as the next few games come up and am predicting we may upset the Gators.

2. UGA football is clearly not where it should be right now based on our talent, facilities, fan base, tradition, etc.
3. The team is poorly coached. There is no logical counter to that argument.

That would very broad-minded and enlighted of you would it not? In other words, be supportive, right? How many sloppy games on both sides of the ball will it take, if ever, for you to say, “That’s enough”! If we go 4-8, or 3-9 or maybe 2-10 for the season. Where’s your threshold? You can criticize to destroy our team–or you can provide criticism that is helpful. Right now, we’ve got both!
Constructive = if you want to fire CMR, please give at least some positive direction forward!! Propose some replacements! If you notice specific things he is doing wrong–keep pointing out what he could do better! THAT type of criticism is helpful! (Not that he reads this junk.)
Example of constructive criticism for UGA =
1) Fire CMR. Hire Brian Kelly, he will bring a new voice to ignite the program. (I don’t agree with this, just giving an example)
2) Mark Richt needs to put better players covering kick-offs, make it a competition–don’t let walk-ons do it if they aren’t getting the job done.
Non-examples:
1) Fire Mark Richt! (He is too Christian! He sucks! etc…)
2) Our program is going down the tube! I’m returning my UGA t-shirt to Wal-mart.

You people make me sick, Dooley was a great coach and he won either 6 or 7 games before the National Championship. What happened to sticking with a guy through ups and downs because you believe he will eventually do it. Everyone wanted to fire Mack Brown at Texas and then he won one. We have one of the most talented coaches in college football and you want to throw him out for the new thing. As a UGA alumnus and fan, I get so angry when people attack Richt so quickly. Sorry fellas, we wont win every year, there will be issues. Get over it. You can’t brag of the difficulty of the SEC out of one side of your mouth and then get angry when we lose a game. And despite any obvious reactions to this, yes, the games we have won are not pretty. Who cares, let our coaches coach them up. And for the individual that is going to say that our coaches don’t do that, just save it. Don’t be that naive as to say that our coaches don’t do anything and put their feet up during practices. What happens next year when we have a rusty start bc we will be starting a redshirt freshman? Fans on this board will make it look like we are the worst team in the country. Richt has been rather defensive since the 2006 season. If we lose to Kiffin and Co. tomorrow (which is very possible), Richt will become more defensive.
Coach Richt needs to understand that there is a pattern. It would also behoove him to acknowledge that he is 2-6 versus Florida which is the real stat that matters.

I truly believe that our coaches who work 80 – 100 hours a week getting the kids ready to play, know a heck of alot more about what will and what will not work than any of us.
You 2 guys are just “narrow minded” or horses with blinders”!!! I’m not a puppies fan, obviously, not even close! But why do you lambaste other pup’s fans that can actually deal with or “accept” the reality that CMR and staff are “NOT” very good coaches. If they were, you “ball lickers” wouldn’t have been 10-3 last year with 2 1st round draft picks on the team after being pre-season #1!!! CMR can recruit, he just isn’t very good at team discipline and “gameday” coaching. Georgia Tech last year is a good example! Should have lost to Ark. and S.C. this year as well and be sitting at 1 – 4!!! Wake up and realize that this coaching staff is not that good, people on the outside looking in can see that, as well as most of the”pup” nation.

I get the frustration. I walked into an office full of Purple and Gold monday morning. My secretary has been wearing purple all week (she claims its for the Florida game, but I know her all too well). If there is anyone that should be angry this week, it’s me. But I am also rational. The best coaches in college football history did win national championships, but not every year. Infact, most had some awful seasons. Just terrible. Why are we as “entitled” Georgia fans not supposed to take that, bc he hasn’t won one? The man has had 7 ten win seasons. Who else can say that? Very few. Should we look at a new DC? Maybe. Should we look at a new OC? Maybe. But to say there is some unbelievable issue is at best fleeting, and at worst just plain nonsense. Maybe most on this board didnt suffer through the Golf years, but as a donor for close to 25 years, I know a good thing when I see it. But all this flat out complaining just brings weight to the Tech argument that we are disillusioned fans who are mostly bandwagon. That is what it looks like from the outside. I’m surrounded by LSU fans today who say they would rather have Richt than Miles. They hate Miles and he won a NC. We all want more for this Georgia squad, but sometimes you’re have a bad year. Maybe this is our bad year.

You people…
take your blinders off. This program hasn’t been the same since we won the SECC in 2005. The subsequent WV game was a disaster and began the trend that will be the downfall of this coaching staff – the team being completely unprepared for big games (or any game for that matter) and unable to put a complete game together. While 2006 ended on a high note, that trait certainly exhibited itself numerous times in that season (which could have easily been much worse). 2007 – UT in Knoxville. Need I say more? Ok – I will – we almost lost to Vanderbilt the following week. I was as happy as anyone that we turned things around in 07 but come on – if the coaching staff hadn’t decided to take the south carolina and UT games off we would have won the NC. unfortunately they did and we didn’t. 2008 – don’t get me started. we did not beat a single quality team. got blown out in the 2 biggest games we played and then decided not to play the 2nd half against GT. i challenge you to show me one game in 2008 where we played a complete game. i was willing to overlook last year until we got into more of the same this year. Right now, this team could just as easily be 0-5 as it is 3-2. One of these years we’re going to crack thru the thin ice we’ve been skating on. I hope it isn’t this year but if we lose to UT saturday then i fear it will be the beginning of the end for mark richt at uga. mark my words. i was upset when i realized santa claus wasn’t real too, but i got over it. open your eyes.

Well, some of you on here that want to see CMR leave, which is really stupid, might get your wish. I just got off the phone with someone up the chain at FSU and they are getting ready to through everything and the kitchen sink to get CMR back. They are finding ut that big Jimbo is not the coach they thought. Don’t know if CMR would take it, but he will be tempted. All depends on how strong his roots are at FSU. I wonder if we gave them Willie instead what would happen.

I question your sources as we’ve been hearing variations of this for years, but Richt going to tallahassee is probably the right answer. It won’t be hard to find a coaching staff that will be better at making the incredibly talented individuals we have on campus and in our state play better as a TEAM than the product we are seeing on the field now. that isn’t to say that it won’t be a painful transition, but the damage done by goff and donnan staying on for too long was immense. Richt leaving for FSU now could be an elegant way to begin the process of fixing all this. Don’t get me wrong, I think Richt was the right hire at the right time and has done wonderful things with the program. Unfortunately it has come as far as it is going to under him and is now slipping backwards.

WOW – such huge swings both ways on this debate – how about a little middle ground?
Just my opinion, but I think we have excellent coaches in some respects, but we are getting stale.
I keep going back to when we first hired Searels and we got what I thought was a spark. We then overachieved with a young line, etc. I think that there is something to be said for a stable coaching staff, but with that you give opposing coaches 8 years of film to look at now. I feel like someone new on the staff, on either side of the ball, could bring a fresh perspective. Someone who has been coaching against us that can say, “Well everyone knows you are going to………., and here is how we should keep them on their heels.”
Obviously, because of the NCAA rules, to hire one, one must go. To me, the choice has to be Fabris. I have had problems with Martinez and Bobo, but mostly given the luxury of having already seen the game. Looking back on a lot of the things they have done, most (not all) make sense based on what was known about the opponent and the talent we had to work with.
I just don’t understand why Richt doesn’t put his foot down and have Bogotay, Walsh, or whoever, kick the ball through the dad gum endzone. He made that great comment last year about finding a kicker that could do it “if he had to go to Poland.” Now, he continues to let Fabris put our defense in bad situations. I believe the stat is that when we force a touchback in the last 2 years (not often done), the opponent has scored 17% of the time. That number goes up dramatically with each additional 10 yards allowed on kickoff. Coaches are supposed to be numbers guys – this one seems like a no brainer to me. Our defense also seems to play much better with a predictable situation. When the play on the field gets frantis, our coaches seem to get frantic, and we commit dumb penalties. If they are confident the other team will start on the 20, they go out prepared and focused; a big return, and all heck breaks loose.
Anyway, just my 2 cents – good staff overall, need a fresh face, and kickoffs need to become boring.
Go Dawgs!

Rambo needs to be on the field and start. I he plays much like Eric Berry.
Our linebackers needs to blizt more often instead trying to cover the TE.
On offense, needs more 4 receivers set and uses Logan Gray for the wildcat and give him the option to run or pass.
Cox needs to makes those short quick passes and keep the offense moving.
Let Washaun do his things like Moreno used to do. Run hard and move around.
We should be able to come with the Victory like Auburn did.

Guys come on. I know that ever since I was criticized for the touchdown celebration at Florida my testicles have retracted. Since then I have handed over all coaching responsibilities to the water girl who, in my opinion, will lead us to a very respectful 7-5 vanilla season. Let’s face it, I just don’t have time to coach anymore now that Ford, Carpets of Dalton and Lake Lanier are paying by bills. Gotta look out for number one you know! I apologize that my Coordinators will not retire. I would fire them but, dang-it, by testicles are still stuck. Maybe when they get tired of me they will let us all go. And then I can focus on what is most important.. TV advertising.

biggest disappointment so far-offensive line play, we are 105 in nation in rushing offense. i certainly thought it would be better with the young but experienced guys we have returning from last year. but the key word there is young. we have the 4th youngest team in sec, per the 2 deep roster, usc is youngest followed by uf(scary), ar and then uga. we have the most sophomores(19), usc most freshmen(17), au most juniors(21) and um most seniors(20). we also have an inexperienced qb. UGA- our better days are ahead, so please lighten up and give this team your support, that will pay more divedends that all the bashing. heck yes it hurts now, but it is pain not injury, play through it.

Anyone who thinks this team is well coached and maximizes its talent has simply taken leave of their senses. Get this ship righted or Richt will lose his job over it eventually. Sorry, but that’s the way it is. The 10-win plateau won’t do any longer, and ironically, it’s Richt that has created this higher expectation. It’s too bad he can’t be the one to take us there. 6 touchbacks
11/28 kicks to at least the endzone
19/28 kick inside the 8
considering 2 kick were intentional pooched, 2 bounced OOB, and 1 was from the 15, that leaves about 2 kicks this whole year that were “directional placed” (4 if you simple cannot beleive, that despite the grimace on his face, Walsh didnt just FU the oob kicks) none if you don’t believe the kicker has hit everyone exactly the way he wanted.

Losing at almost certain losses to FLA/Tech/ … maybe to Tenn/Aug … poor bowl play. How does 7-6 possibly look. 3. Mark Richt called for multiple excessive celebration penalites while doing Soulja Boy dance after UGA

Stupid Question, AJ-C.
Whom do we want to get the most carries against the vols.
Jeez Louise.
90 percent of us want Washaun Ealey to get the most carries.
10,000 votes.
Duh.
Figure it out.
Of course, the vols have a running game. UGA does not.
The vols also have a better defense.
The vols, in addition, have a FAR BETTER COACHING STAFF than Coach Richt has seen fit to FINALLY THIS WEEK CRITICIZE.
Jonathan Crompton is a GREAT QUARTERBACK, Coach Richt ? Huh ? What the hell is that Coach Richt ? Everyone knows that Eric Berry was a far better Quarterback here than Jonathan Crompton.
I will bet you, however, that Jonathan Crompton has a far better game against this “Coaching Staff” assembled of college roommates and buddies of Coach Richt.
vols have beat exactly Ohio (whatever that is) and Western Kentucky (whatever that is.)
Jonathan Crompton has LOST to EVERY OTHER TEAM on the vols “schedule.”
With such compelling games as Ohio, Western Kentucky and Memphis, that “quarterback” Coach Richt, sir, with all due respect should muster 3 “wins.”
Lame Kitten is supposedly given a bye this season, because he has Jonathan Crompton as his “quarterback” which is the ONLY reason why Lame Kitten made him the starter.
Number 82 Passing Offense with Jonathan Crompton as the “quarterback” when the vols’ “schedule” includes ONLY wins over Ohio (whatever that is) and Western Kentucky (whatever that is.)
God Almighty, Coach Richt.
92 Jonathan Crompton is Number 92 in Total Offense this entire season.
92 Jonathan Crompton is Number 92 in Passing Offense this entire season.
92 Jonathan Crompton is Number 92 in Turnover Margin for the vols 2009.
82 Jonathan Crompton is Number 82 Passing Offense this entire season.
Against WESTERN KENTUCKY AND OHIO.
I expect him to look like a world-beater against your “coaching staff” Coach Richt, sir.
Obviously, if we put 9 in the box against the vols today, the vols have zero hope of winning.
vols have a far better defense than Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” can hope to muster, however.
Jonathan Crompton should therefore just as obviously have a frigin’ field day against Coach Richt’s “coaching staff.”
17-19 Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” has mustered all-time forever against Final AP Poll Top 25 teams to-date in 8 and a half years here at UGA.
vols are OBVIOUSLY not a Final AP Poll Top 25 team.
But, Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” has managed to blow such games against the likes of 1. Vanderbilt who was 4-8 in 2006 yet we lost to Vanderbilt in 2006 and was ranked Number 70 in the Final BCS Rankings 2006. UGA lost to 2. Kentucky who was ranked Number 43 in the Final BCS Rankings in 2006, and yet UGA lost to Kentucky in 2006. UGA lost to 3. Florida in 2002 and Florida was NOT RANKED in the Final AP Poll Top 25 in 2002. UGA lost to 4. Auburn in 2001 when Auburn lost to 5 teams, but not to UGA, with Auburn NOT RANKED in the Final AP Poll Top 25 in 2001. The year before last, UGA lost to 5. South Carolina who ended up without a winning record, no bowl game and ranked Number 48. And, last year, UGA lost to 6. Georgia Tech (I don’t remember, did Georgia Tech get ranked in the Final AP Poll last year at all while UGA was Number 13 ?)
So, after these SIX (6) LOSSES by Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” already in 8 previous years, it is HIGHLY LIKELY that we WILL LOSE a game EVERY YEAR on the average, to a team just exactly like the vols this year.
Right ?
vols come in Ranked Number 63 in the BCS Rankings, Number 57 in the Anderson-Hester Seattle Times Rankings, Number 65 in the Richard Billingsley Rankings, Number 71 in the Wes Colley Unbiased Poll, Number 57 in the Kenneth Massey Poll, Number 59 in the Jeff Sagarin Poll and zero votes in the Harris Poll, zero votes in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and zero votes in the AP Poll. There is NO WAY the vols end up a Ranked Football Team in the Final AP Poll, which has found then now this year 8 Consecutive Years that the vols have NOT been ranked ahead of UGA in the Final AP Poll.
EIGHT (8) Years in a Row and COUNTING UGA Ranked AHEAD of vols Final AP Poll.
UGA has now moved ahead of Missouri to be in the Top 25 of every single solitary poll this morning. Of course, a loss at Neyland Stadium would remove us from the polls.
But, it will NOT put the vols in ANY POLL for UGA to lose to the vols.
There is NO incentive for the vols to win.
There is incentive for UGA to win.
This is a MUST WIN, NOT for the vols, but for UGA.
And, just whom is this a MUST WIN for at UGA ?
That is the QUESTION, AJ-C dimwits.
It is a MUST WIN for ALL of Coach Richt’s “COACHING STAFF” to avoid yet ANOTHER 7th LOSS to the likes of Number 62 vols. Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” has completed 8 seasons, and a loss today would be their 7th.
This NOT to mention the 17-19 Record in the 8 and a half year Coach Richt Era against Final AP Poll Top 25 teams by Coach Richt’s “coaching staff.”

Systemic
I believe the general malaise in Athens is universal for the 8 and a half years of the Coach Richt Era with his lousy “coaching staff” the entire time. While I have greatly enjoyed the 17 wins against Final AP Poll teams the year we beat them, I have not enjoyed the 19 Losses against teams who ended up that season a Final AP Poll Top 25 team. Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” is 17 wins 19 losses against what in fact were Final AP Poll Top 25 teams in the entire 8 and a half years.
I do not really enjoy having a Losing Record at UGA against Final AP Poll Top 25 Teams in the Coach Richt Era of 8 and a Half Years now because of his “coaching staff.”
I also do not really enjoy having Lost 6 games to teams who were NOT RANKED in the Final AP Poll Top 25 teams Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” of college roommates, buddies, and otherwise COMPLETE STAFF with ZERO NFL experience by ANY of them – have managed to lose because of their lack of experience and total incompetence.
This vols team, ranked Number 62 in the BCS Rankings today has wins over Ohio and Western Kentucky, only. They have lost to every other team on their schedule. This would be Coach Richt’s “coaching staff’s” 7th loss to such a team. He has coached here 8 years.
I like Coach Richt.
I do not believe there is anyone who does not like Coach Richt.
Coach Richt, his wife, family, buddies, college roommates, and friends are all the Salt of The Earth.
His total complete general “coaching staff” is not up to coaching the talent from the state here of Georgia who produces the 4th most NFL players. The average ranking according to every single solitary ranking service for the 10 classes’ rankings, shows Coach Richt has in fact the Number 7 Recruiting Class in the nation, on the average, every year now from 2001 to the 2010 class of recruits.
It’s not our talent.
Only 3 other programs have more talent in the NFL than UGA today.
Coach Richt, himself, finally this week for the 1st time ever, CRITICIZES his own “coaching staff.”
I am sorry; they are not getting the job done, have not the entire 8 and a half years, and have no hope of fixing it themselves.
vols’ coaching staff is a lot better than Coach Richt’s.
vols’ running game is far superior to what Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” presents after 8 and a half years. vols’ defense is profoundly advanced over what Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” presents after 8 and a half years. vols’ Special Teams are better than what Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” presents after 8 and a half years.
Clueless “coaching staff” completely and totally throughout his “coaching staff” of buddies and college roommates. And, NOW Coach Richt agrees with this. Finally this week for the first time.
17 wins 19 losses against what ended up Final AP Poll Top 25 teams.
6 inexplicable losses to those NOT ranked.
And, now we face a vols’ team who has NO HOPE of ending up a Top 25 Final AP Poll Team. And, his “coaching staff” faces LOSS Number 7 to such a team.
Do I like it that we are the only program in the nation ranked every year in the Final AP Poll Top 25 starting 1997 ?
You bet.
Do I like that we have been ranked BETTER than the vols EVERY YEAR in the Final AP Poll for now this season 8 CONSECUTIVE SEASONS and counting ?
You bet.
But, our TOTAL ABJECT lack of NFL experience on Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” includes of all 20 of them 1 man who spent 1 year coaching linebackers with Cleveland Browns of the NFL. He does NOT coach linebackers here.
1. We lose 1 game a year every year on the average against a sorry football team like the vols are this year again.
2. We lose more games than we win against teams who end up that year in the Final AP Poll Top 25.
I am ready to stop talking about it : defending them, or criticizing them.
I believe it is time to Clean House, Coach Richt.

RECRUITING :
BS we couldn’t figure out that Knowshon Moreno was the real deal. I will argue that he in fact is the Best UGA Football Player.
We had him for 2 years.
Whose frigin’ fault is that ?
The NFL ?
No.
Washaun Ealey. I said start him before the season started.
Now, we are 3 quarters through Game 5 and we rip his redshirt off.
Moves of a desperate “coaching staff” who have no damn clue.
Don’t give me this BS that it’s hard to figure out that Knowshon Moreno is Great.
Don’t give me this BS that it’s hard to know that after 3 years here now that Caleb King from Greater Atlanta Christian has not done a damn thing carrying the tater.
Don’t give me this BS that it’s hard to know that Richard Samuel cannot hold on to the football after 2 years now of watching that too.
Don’t give me this BS that it’s hard to know and that that is why we did not know that we just absolutely had to go out and sign up 2 real bookend defensive ends who could step on the field and produce after what we have been witnessing at those positions either.
Don’t give me this BS that it’s hard to know that we just had to get Washaun Ealey on the field this year.
Don’t give me this BS that it’s hard to know that Blair Walsh would still be struggling in kick-offs costing us the win against LSU last week with his kick-off ending up Our 39-yard line. We went out and got us a kick-off kicker. Blair Walsh is still being groomed for the position, instead.
Don’t give this B.S. that Marlon Brown should not be on the field and that the NFL will not take him after 2 years too.
Don’t give me this B.S. that Coach Richt has had ANY CLUE on Recruiting for his holes any year of the 9-years now his “coaching staff” has recruited.
Don’t give me this B.S. that we have had any kind of plan on recruiting Offensive Linemen in the 10 classes of recruiting of Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” yet.
Don’t give me this B.S. that it’s hard to know that Rennie Curran should not have been a walk-on here completely not recruited for scholarship by this “coaching staff.”
Don’t give me this B.S. that it’s hard to know that we should never have given Andy Bailey from the state of Tennessee a scholarship and NOT to Brandon Coutu.
I am tired of your B.S. defenses of this “coaching staff.”
It is obvious now, looking back, that DJ Shockley was a lot better quarterback than David Greene and that DJ deserved to play more than he did.
It is just as obvious that Matthew Stafford should have been pulled in a lot more games in favor of some playing time for Joe Cox.
Just as it is as plain as the nose on your face that Coach Richt and Mike Bobo should be getting Logan Gray in there this year when Joe Cox has not been up to par from the 1st snap in 2 losses.
You cannot defend any of these moves.
You can make excuses.
The defensive side of the ball is even more weird who we play and who we see is better than them such as Rambo, only to see him sit and others burned play after play.
You want to know why Coach Richt is embattled ?
Because of the decisions of his staff.
They do not collectively know what the frig they are doing.
None of them.
Explain to me why we needed to sign two (2) Scholarship Quarterbacks last year when so far to-date Game 6 now we have given Logan Gray 2 snaps ?
Hells Bells.
For that matter explain to me why we have recruited in fact 10 Scholarship Quarterbacks who have all 10 been ranked in the Top 10 Quarterbacks in the nation in the 10 classes ? What in the living hell is that all about ? We have 4 and 5 Top 10 Quarterbacks every year. Why ? Now, we have 4 and 3 of the 4 have a grand total of 2 snaps. We are clueless. Neither of the 2 plays was a pass play, by the way. We are NOT READY. We never are. IT IS CONSISTENT.
32 SENIORS and Juniors on this roster who are SCHOLARSHIP players. 32. Not 1 single solitary running back at the University of Ground Attack. How in the hell is that possible to 32 seniors and juniors in this state of Georgia on this roster and NOT 1 RUNNING BACK ?
Wide Receiver next season, we will have ZERO seniors or juniors.
OL we have 5 in 1 class, 6 in the next class, and 5 in the class after them. We have done this at OL since 2001 when it was totally clear that in 2001, we just had to go sign 3 or 4. We have NOT CORRECTED THIS EITHER. Still today, we go back to 1 senior OL this year and 2 recruits. What is wrong with the “coaching staff” that they cannot see that they cannot waste 6 then 5 then 5 scholarships on OL and then go back to their typical 1 or 2.
Defensive Tackles, this year we have four (4) Seniors. All 4 seniors. Good Lord Above. So, we go out and SIGN 1 for next year. Real smart guys. This is Rodney Garner’s position we are talking about here folks.
We have 14 linebackers on scholarship and committed scholarship. 14. There are 3 positions. Heck for that matter, we have moved 2 as there in fact are 16 recruited linebackers recruited to play linebacker today. 16.
Safety. We don’t have 1. We have only 1 senior and only 2 juniors. So, you think Rodney Garner went out and got us at least 1 who would be sophomores now ? Uh, no sir. Not 1. With 1 senior and 2 juniors, we signed 0 the follow-up year. So, we signed 4 this year. Does any of this sound smart to you ? Any of this you can make excuses for after 10 recruiting classes now by this “coaching staff.”
If we have an obvious need, we get nothing.
Do you know what our Special Teams consists of ? 3 scholarship players. Guess what ? All of sophomores, every single 1. I will tell you what we are. Stupid.
If we have 5-deep at the position already, we sign 5 more.
How many Cornerbacks to you put on the field of play every play on Defense ? Answer is 2. We have 1 senior. We have 1 junior. We have 1 sophomore. What’s your excuse here, pray tell ?

gomdawg,
That hurts me so much in view of the recruiting blunders, the 17 wins to 19 losses to Final AP Poll Top 25 teams, and the now looking for the 7th loss in the 8 and a half year Era of this “coaching staff” against NOT RANKED teams, that all you can say is that I CANNOT POINT it out.
gumdawg,
You leave the obvious points :
1. We do not recruit for what we need but for what we already have too many of.
2. We do not beat, but actually lose more games against the Final AP Poll Top 25.
3. We are looking at our 7th loss in the 8 and half years of this “coaching staff” against NOT RANKED teams.

I talked to several big boosters the other day. Word is they are not going to some of the games. Not going to contribute to Ga sports. They say Adams has charged them or gorged them on tickets and parking etc and they aren’t getting what they pay for. That Ga. is a team with serious Coaching issues and the Head Coach signs his name on the check but refuses to do anything about it simply because he is not willing to step on anybodys feelings. Well, they simply say “TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME! Lets see how Adams and Evans feels when the money start DRYIN UP!

One point I want to make. How good is Ga’s talent on defense versus Coaching. Ga’s defense looked awesome against LSU. Well, LSU plays a pro offense just like GA. So the dawgs were playing a defense they knew well in practice, there own. But when they play another type defense they are simply not Coached on how to play it. They run around like they are lost. It’s not their fault they are lost. It’s the way they were COACHED. Hell, blame it on the players, “THE COACHES ARE OFF LIMITS. Richt “we will not discuss the Coaches to the media, by the way, I’m thing of demoting the kicker”. What a hipocrate!

DirtyDawg,
That is what YOU should be saying about Coach Richt’s “coaching staff” redshirting Knowshon Moreno, playing Marlon Brown 1 play in now Game 6 of his otherwise redshirt year, yanking the redshirt OFF Washaun Ealey 3 quarters gone of game 5 his redshirt year otherwise, playing Rambo only to see an interception and benching him for it to watch all the others burned play after play, telling us that Greater Christian Academy Caleb King is Number 1 RB at UGA only to start instead Richard Samuel who has done nothing but fumble costing us losses both last year and again this year, recruiting no defensive ends, recruiting 14 linebackers instead, recruiting 16 OL in 3 years back-to-back-to-back and 1 the year before that and 2 the year after, having 32 seniors and juniors this year only to have zero senior or junior running backs, having 2 junior fullbacks who we never give the ball to when we can’t run and both of them will be in the NFL and having not 1 other fullback on the roster and NONE recruited for next year either; and having LOST 19 and won only 17 against Final AP Poll Top 25 teams, staring at LOSS to Number in his “coaching staff’s” 8-year BLUNDER of talent here.
Instead, you surmise, it is I who should take a hint DirtyDawg ?
Are you certain it is NOT YOU, DirtyDawg, who should take a hint sir ?

Okay, I was trying to remain positive but it is obvious that UGA lacks coaching. We are making stars out of average QB’s. Offense: Joe Cox is not a starting QB. I’m sure he is a great kid but he cannot handle big time situations. He has leadership but lacks size, speed, and talent. He should find the bench and start Logan Gray. He has a better arm and much better speed. What do we have to keep losing with a terrible QB? Why keep running out of an I formation when you cannot run? Play action only works if you can run. Mike Bobo needs to expand the offense. Stop running the same basic packages. Monte Kiffin made Bobo look stupid. Open your mind and catch up to modern times. Herschel nor Knowshon is at running back. Richard Samuel is a LB or FB. It is just a fact. Great kid but lacks the wiggle. The line is average at best. Vince Vance is 6′8 330 but lacks any technique. Find the bench big boy. He gets dominated on a consistent basis. The receivers are good and will get better with better coaching. The defensive problems are obvious. We can’t stop anybody. No pass rush. Geno Atkins and Jeff Owens are not the dominate players that they are made out to be. Kade Weston is the best SR DL at UGA. Demarcus Dobbs needs to be moved to DT. He never gets any pressure on the QB. Firing Willie Martinez hads been an obvious decision for a couple of years. Prince Miller has been a major bust. Our senior class is terrible. Michael Moore and Kade Weston have been the only productive seniors which points to a bright future. The DE’s coach needs to be fired. They are poorly prepared. So the entire UT team can go on the field and dance during a game and no call is made? What’s the deal? A fair catch that hits the ground? That was a horrible call. So in the event of a dead ball, you can commit a personal foul (Marlon Brown)? Hmmm. This is unbelievable. I am still amazed at how UT fans treat Marlon Brown. Orson Charles was punched in the head with an offical watching with no call. You criticize a young man’s grandmother because he selects a different school. That is a total lack of class. He is not a slave that belongs to any state. Eric Berry is from GA but he never belonged to UGA. Have some class? This is a young teenager. Mark Richt’s seat is becoming hot. I love the man but he is not making the best decisions. We need to start playing the younger players. They are more productive and have better talent.

I love it when Tennessee beats Georgia these days. In the 90’s it didn’t mean as much because UGA was a SEC second level team. Now that UGA has built a great program, it means something to get the best of them. Keep your head’s up Dawg fans, you will be returning to the Top five in the very near future. I couldn’t read anymore of the fantasy stuff. We stink guys. We MIGHT upset somebody in the oming weeks, but as of 10/11/2009… we suck. I don’t even have enough emotion in me to type an exclamation mark. I said after the 1st game of the season that it was an embarrassment and it was…… this was both pathetic and apathetic at the same time. I like Mike Bobo…. I was a student at UGA when he was a player, but Bobo…. has got to go…he’ll land on his feet; he’s a great guy. Martinez….. Go coach high school kids or something… please. Just don’t coach my Dawgs defense anymore. And if CMR can’t bring himself to fire some people……. I’m sorry, but Damon or the President has to fire him. We get 4 and 5 Star players year after year, yet when we play the SEC elite………… we look like a bunch of chumps.
