Ten things to know from preseason Week 1

Athens – Before moving on to Week 2 of Georgia’s preseason camp, let’s quickly rewind Week 1. Here are 10 things worth noting and noticing:

1. Chris Davis, who started camp on the second-team offensive line after off-season hip surgery, wasted no time reclaiming a spot on the first unit. By the end of the very first practice, he was there, supplanting Vince Vance at left guard.

2. Finally, Kwame Geathers was cleared academically by the NCAA. But now, he has a long way to go physically to catch up with his teammates who were working out on campus all summer.

3. It’s fun to see how much fun Jeff Owens is having, how much he appreciates being back from knee surgery.

4. In a sign of the times, freshman tailback Washaun Ealey broke the news of his elbow injury on his Facebook page, and Owens tweeted frequent updates on Twitter.

5. Linebacker Darryl Gamble is making a lot of plays — two interceptions and two fumble recoveries in one practice alone.

6. “I’m probably gonna cry!” That’s what freshman WR Marlon Brown said at the mention of the Bulldogs’ preseason tradition for freshmen to get their heads shaved by upperclassmen.

7. So far so good on the all-important comebacks by OT Trinton Sturdivant and DT Owens. “You see no ill effects,” Mark Richt said. “You don’t see them favoring anything.”

8. The decision won’t come until after one or two scrimmages, but it looks and sounds as if Logan Gray has a solid grip on the job of No. 2 quarterback.

9. Rest assured that players and coaches alike are taking a serious attitude toward reducing penalties.

10. And a nice ending to Week 1: Hard-working offensive lineman Casey Nickels was awarded a scholarship after three years as a walk-on.

The Pocket Protectors win only 3 games of the last 14 years, but by the way they squeak on this blog, you’d think they lead the series. Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then. Btw, I’ve never even visited a GT-dweeber blog… why would anyone.. are there any? Maybe that’s why they hang out here. Anyway, the jealousy must be at a fever pitch in BobbyDoddville. What was the LSU score again.. 38-3? Hahahaha.

Can we get back to being civilized and discussing CF seriously. UGA and GT will both have strong teams this year. I like UGA’s chances to compete for an SEC Title. Gators will have another good year but you never know what can happen. Tim Tebow and Hershal Walker two best players ever to play CF.

I was mis quoated in the AJC. I don’t really expect the dawgs to win more than 4 games this year. Our defense is pathetic and there is a reason Jox Cox has not started in 4 years and it’s not because of Stafford. It’s because he SUX. Our best running back could not even make Tech’s team this year. I never thought I would say this, but I wish we could just skip the Tech game and play Georgia State. That would be a much closer game. We might even luck up and beat them, but I am afraid Bill Curry would make it very close. PJ, please take it easy on my boys this year. I am afraid your guys may break your all time record of 222 pts. scored against Cumberland on our pitiful defense this year. WE are at your mercy PJ.

I went to UGA too, but I never go back to see that football team again. I can’t stand to see Tech whip us and I know it is just the beginning of an AZZ whipping every year from the Jackets. As long as PJ is their coach, and he wants to stay there the rest of his life, we will never, never beat them again. We can’t compete with them any more. I am going to become a Tech fan cause I love winners. Sorry Cuz, get with the program or continue being a loser.

Hey UGA! I see that your awesome team is working on a home and home series with Army. Now, that is a powerhouse team. Maybe you should consider a home and home series with the Coast Guard. At least, they can rescue your sinking program. GO JACKETS!

UGA: The SEC is the greatest football conference in the Country! sorry, but from top to bottom it’s not. First of all, you lose to OSU for your opener. Actually, I must admit I am quite impressed that your team is starting the season with 3 or 4 home games in a row against Tenn Tech, Ga. State, or the Chippewas. This will not be your usual 9 or 10 win season. You might win 7 games, but I doubt it and you won’t beat GT or Florida either. Get used to the azz whoopin you got last year by Florida and look for the Jackets to roll up about 600 yards of rushing against your overated underachieving team. Oh, one more thing………….Let me know when you get that home and home series scheduled with the Coast Guard, as you will need it. ARMY! Are you kidding me. THWG!

Woops…………….sorry about the above comment, but I don’t really have much to say about UGA, their football team, their school, or fans, as they all are hurting fer certin.

By the way, quit bragging about LSU’s 38-3 win over Tech. You will get slammed by the Tigers, and teh Gators and the Jackets and the Cowboys in Stillwater. Man……………..things at UGA are looking really bad this year. THWG!

Hey Ole Dawgyboy: What was the score last year in the GT vs UGAG game. 45-42 and Roddy Jones just scored again.

Hey, Ramble On… if you ever check out your own blog you’ll find that it just got easier in the ACC due to a VT injury…I didn’t think it could get any easier. Hey dawg poop remember Nov 28. I hope your boys kept their ring boxes because they are gonna have to turn those stupid rings back in on Nov 29. A fluke 3 point win does not a dynasty make. Tech is 2nd rate and always will be.
