So what does it cost to go on the road with the Bulldogs?
Georgia said Thursday that cumulative lifetime contributions to the Athletic Association of at least $21,950 were required to gain the right to buy tickets from UGA’s allotment to the Oct. 10 football game at Tennessee. Getting tickets through UGA for the Sept. 5 season opener at Oklahoma State required contributions of at least $4,000.
On the other hand, Georgia said it was able to accommodate all orders from contributors for the Sept. 19 game at Arkansas. Cutoffs haven’t been calculated yet for games at Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech and in Jacksonville against Florida.
Georgia earlier said that $4,205 in lifetime contributions were required to gain the right to buy first-time home season tickets this year. And what about season-ticket holders who wanted to purchase additional single-game tickets to, say, the Oct. 3 home game against LSU? That required contributions of $32,500 to qualify.
Georgia said lifetime contributions of $18,050 and $10,000 were required to qualify to buy single-game tickets to the home games against Arizona State and Kentucky, respectively.
No single-game tickets were available for the home games against South Carolina and Auburn, UGA said, because those schools took the maximum allotment of visitors’ tickets. At the other extreme, Georgia was able to fill all contributors’ orders for single-game tickets to the Nov. 7 home game against Tennessee Tech.
UGA fills ticket orders — whether for season tickets, single-game home tickets (when available) or road tickets — on the basis of prospective purchasers’ cumulative lifetime contributions, starting with the highest and continuing until the ticket supply is exhausted.

Sorry guys, but the irony is just too good to resist here. Bill King was whining yesterday in this article: http://blogs.ajc.com/junkyard-blawg/2009/07/29/cowboys-dont-want-red-and-black-horde/ about the fact you would have to purchase a $400 season ticket from OSU in order to have a ticket to the OSU-UGA game. He claims it’s because OSU doesn’t want UGA fans at the game (not true, BTW). Sounds like UGA doesn’t want it’s own fans going to the OSU game since you have to have contributed $4,000 to get a single game ticket to the OSU game. Couldn’t you save yourself about 90% by just ponying up for the OSU season ticket? Too funny.

Compared to the last few years, the scores needed to get tickets are a bargain.
To OrangeCowboy, the $4,000 is the lifetime score needed to get OSU tickets, not a single season contribution.

Orange Cowboy,
While your point is noted, I don’t believe you get the idea. The 4000 points is a lifetime, cumulative amount. OK State alotted UGA only 5000 tickets to the game. Obviously, UGA had orders for well over the 5000 seats because, to have your order filled from UGA, you have to have donated at least 4K over your lifetime to UGA (that takes about 6-8 years of being a season ticket holder if you make the minimum donation).
The point Bill was making was that many UGA fans bought tickets last year to the UGA/Az State game from ASU (Many UGA fans do the same thing for the Ga Tech game every other year). However, Ok state will not sell single game seats to the game in a ploy to keep UGA fans from buying up all the extra seats (as they undoubtedly would).
Got it?

Fools like OrangeCowboy mistake the 4000 as a sign UGA doesn’t want fans to travel. Actually, just the opposite; by having a contribution cutoff of 4000 (lifetime, not one year doofus), that indicates that UGA sold every ticket alloted to us by Oklahoma State. No cutoff would have indicated that UGA did not sell its full allotment. UGA will be in Stillwater in as large a force as OSU allows us, and then some more for Dawgs without tickets that go anyway. I’ll be there – the obnoxious one in Red and Black.

The Mites fume when the Dawgs buy all their extra tickets to the Dawgs/Fuzzy Bees games in Atlanta and then give away their other Tech tickets to the homeless so they too can go to the Bees game for their free hot dogs and cokes.

I understand the concept perfectly well Bryan G. Just couldn’t resist taking a little gig at King. Now, for about the 1,000th time, let me explain to YOU about the OSU ticket policy. We had this same thing with the OU game last year and had the same misunderstanding by them as well. But, we also had a significant boost in season ticket sales, so the concept works. Simply stated, make one of the top games on your schedule one that you must have a season ticket to attend.
The purpose of the policy is simply to sell more season tickets, plain and simple. UGA is ONE of the marquis games on our schedule this year. The other is Texas. If OSU’s intent were to exclude fans of other teams, don’t you think they might consider doing this for Texas seeing how this is a conference game and their fan base is closer and much more likely to attend?
OSU has historically been an underfunded athletic program with a relatively small fan base and in a state with a small population. And of course, we play in the huge shadow cast by the Sooners (most people that didn’t go to either school tend to jump on the OU bandwagon) . It is only because of Mr. Pickens’ gifts we even have this nice (although yes, small by SEC standards) stadium. But to maintain the stadium (and the program) at a level that is competitive within the Big 12, we need to increase our season ticket base. Therefore the ticket policy is not, and never has been about excluding anybody.
Got it?

So funny to continue reading redneck ga fans talk about their stadium. the reason why ga does that is so freaking simple. one, go to any bar in north ga and you’ll see redneck guys from all over the state who are big ol dawg fans. they didn’t get a degree and are fans simply because it’s cliche to be a fan of the rednecks when you are a kid. even with no affiliation. i persoanlly know of 6 of them at the local watering hole i go to. but all over from acworth, to canton to cumming to lawrenceville up to rome down to augusta down to macon dublin across to americus. they are there. and they make the pilgrimage up to athens. they are not grads. not even close. many dropped out of high school. but they sure do love their georgy dawgies. like i said. cliche.
second, the student body. it’s what? 3 times bigger than gt’s? so for your ignorant uneducated redneck fans, it’s simple math why ga sells out and gt doesnt. the fan base is 20x the size it is for gt. second, gt sold out it’s home games last year and will again this year. watch the empty seats this year at sanford & son when ky comes in and ga has a 5-5 record. haha. hey we got a better o line. ROFL. yeah that’s what scores points. that o lineman. 5-5 when the wildcats come calling. 6-6 after the massacre at tech. and finally when this happens it will be so nice to hear silence from the obnoxious rednecks when i go out for a beer. gotta love how the uga grads praise the trailer trash that attend games on here, but when you talk to them privately, they can’t stand the stinking reds who show up. least i don’t have to worry about being around some stinkfest at a tech game. and i certainly wont worry about catching H1N1 which the reds will surely spread like wildfire. For you reds, h1n1 is piggy flu.

They range from a high of $32,500 required to buy LSU tickets to $4,000 to buy Oklahoma State tickets. Cutoffs haven’t been calculated yet for Vandy, Tech and Florida. The cutoff for the 5,000 Oklahoma State tickets was notably lower than last year’s cutoff for tickets to the Arizona State game, which was $27,007. This is another Adams shell game. I don’t know about road games, but last year, Adams cut student tickets significantly and converted those seats to season tickets. In order to get a new season ticket, a fan had to donate over $20,000. The lifetime donation is just a PR ploy to disguise the real cost. If you wanted a new season ticket, you had to dump an awful lot of money into Adams’ coffers. Of course, the details of this scam are convoluted and incomprehensible. You can be sure, the price of tickets will continue to climb. The athletic department is wallowing in money while faculty has been cut and professors can’t use the departmental copy machine. But state legislators can always count on Adams to take care of them. Adams has proved as clever and devious as Bernie Madoff.

Bryan G-Lame package deal promotions? If you had gotten on it early enough, you could have had an OSU season ticket for as little as $336 ($42/game vs $80-100/game face value) up until about a month ago. Then you just simply sell the remaining seven games on-line and probably at least break even on the deal. Probably make money since Texas is coming to town this year. Not that tough a system to figure out. Even the OU fans managed to do that last year. You have to be at least as intelligent as the average OU fan.
Seems much simpler that having to pay as much as $20-30,000 in “lifetime” contributions just to get to go to some of your away games. So now remind me, whose deal is lame? As for next year? No need to worry about that. OU will be coming to Stillwater again. Guess which game the season ticket policy will be implemented on next year?

Whatever Bryan. You are sounding more like a typical OU fan all the time. You know absolutely nothing about OSU beyond the football team and maybe Boone Pickens. You have no idea whether it’s a “decent college” or not. If you are judging a particular university based solely on the relative success of it’s football program, then you are too far gone to try and reason with. So, I’m outta here on this conversation.

Jax-I’ve heard quite a bit on that. Apparently, they really like both Young and his defensive coaching style and philosophy. For the players that are seniors, Young is their 3rd DC. Whereas the last two guys were younger, really fiery type of guys, Young is older and a lot more laid back. Also, the previous DC’s had some pretty complicated schemes and the players always seemed to be back on their heels having to think a bit too much. Young came in and kept the same terminology that they were used to, but really simplified things. His philosophy is that the guys can play faster if they aren’t having to think as much. He’s also a big stickler for good, fundamental football, which is something OSU’s players really needed. Way too many missed tackles in the past.
Most of us are cautiously optimistic that Coach Young can eventually improve the defense. Young has had great success at some bigtime programs such as Ohio State, USC, and OU. He even took a terrible Kansas defense and turned them into the No. 12-ranked defense in 2007 and they went on to win a BCS bowl that year. Of course, it didn’t happen overnight. It took some time. But, as fans tend to do, many of ours have gone way overboard and seem to think he will come in and make a huge improvement in the defense right away, like even for the UGA game. I think that is a lot to ask. But, any improvement will help.
Has UGA played many offense similar to OSU’s? OSU basically runs a spread, but they also run/pass about 50/50. A lot of their running is kind of a zone-read option and Robinson is pretty good at running it. I know OSU’s option is completely different than Georgia Tech’s.

UGASports is a trademark of a rivals.com website. You should be ashamed. You not only use their articles without giving them credit, now you steal their name. I hope they sue your pants off!

Better to have Georgia’s problem than to have Georgia Tech’s. Somebody from Tech ticket tried to call me to see if I wanted to buy season tickets. The only calls that Georgia has to take are the complaints about not getting any tickets.

funny how Funny is so jealous of UGA and its fans. The non attendees of either school are Georgia fans for the simple fact they do not want to be associated with Nerds and want to be with winners. UGA is the state school you freakin moron.

Hey GOJACKETS you keep on thinking that about UGA diplomas. We’re doing well and don’t have to think about what nerds we are. Also, we actually have students from GA, not from the north and southeast asia.

I know for a fact that Saint Simons has never been laid because all he ever does is post the same ferry little score on every UGA Blog on the AJC. Loser!

Greg McMackin, 3 times you said what ? Did you read what he actually did say 3 times ? Being a coach for the San Francisco 49ers taught him no life lessons. Charlie Weis says he is offended by the quote. This newspaper has chosen not to print what Greg McMackin said; the same cannot be said for the Idaho Statesman who printed it 30 July 2009.
Average Preseason Polls shows that Georgia is ranked Number 13, 14 or 15 in every single preseason poll, except for Lindys’ (17) and Rivals (18). Lindys’ has forever been and always will be a joke. Rivals, who really does not do their own Preseason Poll and never has, has UGA Number 18.
Phil Steele, the Most Accurate Preseason Predictor, has UGA Number 13 and Georgia Tech UNRANKED.
Congrove has Georgia Number 14 and Georgia Tech UNRANKED.
National Champs dot net has UGA Number 15.
There are no Polls with UGA ranked worse than 18.
Then, you come here to the AJ-C and Georgia Tech who ended their 8th Consecutive Season ranked WORSE than UGA in the Final AP Poll at 9-4 playing a soft schedule, and there is not one word here either about the fact that Las Vegas has picked UGA to beat Tech. That does not look very good for Georgia Tech to me, and the recruiting rankings once again show that UGA is Number 4 best Recruiting Class in the nation for 2010 again, and Georgia Tech once again UNRANKED.
Where is the Georgia Tech WebPages URL Link such as this one ? The Dawgbone dot com.

Dr. Phil — UGAA is a SEPARATE entity. Their funds have nothing to do with whether the Physics department can make copies or not. And if you paid attention, you would see that UGAA actually donates money to the academic side every year. Keep in mind that all of those student athletes who are on scholarship, uh, yeah that is most of them, their tuition is paid by the GSEF money in the form of donations. The kids get a “free” education in the fact that they don’t fork over the money to UGA, but the donors to UGAA are paying to educate those kids! UGAA and UGA are a pretty good team.

Just a few observations. For all you trash talkers – you are only as good as your last game. For all you trash talkers – the game is played on the field between 2 teams and the one with the most points win. They don’t win just because you run your big mouth with your pea brain. Finally, if you spend that amount of money for a ticket then you will never get a BCS playoff system. You will only get more controversy which leads to more money. STUPIDS. If you moronic fans would decide to boycott then you would actually have a system that would allow you to brag about something. But then this is why Georgia is ranked so low in education – this would require some ability to think. Also, tell me how UGA thinks Jacksonville is a halfway point between Gainesville and Athens? It is 71 miles Gainesville to Jacksonville and 362 miles from Athens GA to Jacksonville. Yes UGA fans keep talking and proving just how STUPID you are. GO GATORS. And no, I will not pay idiotic prices to watch a bunch of sweaty guys grab hold of each other and then lay in piles together on the ground. I will join those other folks that will sit in an easy chair, in the A/C, without making some con artist rich (or is it richt?).

Tech fans have such an inferiority complex it is really sad to see. It would be neat to have a great in-state rival like Bama has Auburn or Texas has A&M but this pathetic fan base that can’t even fill a 50,000 seat stadium and this pathetic program that hasn’t been to a major bowl game since the 1966 Orange Bowl just doesn’t cut it. Win a championship that doesn’t have “co” in front of it or make it to a BCS Bowl Game and maybe we can be proud to have you as a rival. But for now you are South Carolina to us.

Gotta love SEC football! Its all power and money and greed and revenge – just like the MOB. Starring…
UGAA Board Icon Don Leeburn as Vito Corlene
Of course – Michael Adams is Fredo
Damon Evans as Tom Hagan….then we have…
Mark “Spray on Tan” Richt as Michael the chosen son
Willie Martinez as underboss who gets rubbed out
UT’s Lane Kiffen as the hot head loud-mouthed Santino
As rival mob bosses we have:
Steve Superior of USC
Urban Cryer of UF
The crooked cop is Slick Nick in Alabama
What a SHOW! Its an offer I cannot refuse!
