The price of going on the road with the Dogs . . .

So what does it cost to go on the road with the Bulldogs?

Georgia said Thursday that cumulative lifetime contributions to the Athletic Association of at least $21,950 were required to gain the right to buy tickets from UGA’s allotment to the Oct. 10 football game at Tennessee. Getting tickets through UGA for the Sept. 5 season opener at Oklahoma State required contributions of at least $4,000.

On the other hand, Georgia said it was able to accommodate all orders from contributors for the Sept. 19 game at Arkansas. Cutoffs haven’t been calculated yet for games at Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech and in Jacksonville against Florida.

Georgia earlier said that $4,205 in lifetime contributions were required to gain the right to buy first-time home season tickets this year. And what about season-ticket holders who wanted to purchase additional single-game tickets to, say, the Oct. 3 home game against LSU? That required contributions of $32,500 to qualify.

Georgia said lifetime contributions of $18,050 and $10,000 were required to qualify to buy single-game tickets to the home games against Arizona State and Kentucky, respectively.

No single-game tickets were available for the home games against South Carolina and Auburn, UGA said, because those schools took the maximum allotment of visitors’ tickets. At the other extreme, Georgia was able to fill all contributors’ orders for single-game tickets to the Nov. 7 home game against Tennessee Tech.

UGA fills ticket orders — whether for season tickets, single-game home tickets (when available) or road tickets — on the basis of prospective purchasers’ cumulative lifetime contributions, starting with the highest and continuing until the ticket supply is exhausted.

How much?? Heck, I will sell you my two tickets for UGA/UT for a lot less than that!

[...] As Tim Tucker has reported, UGA has announced some more cutoff scores for the cumulative lifetime contributions to the Hartman Fund necessary to buy tickets for individual games this season. They range from a high of $32,500 required to buy LSU tickets to $4,000 to buy Oklahoma State tickets. Cutoffs haven’t been calculated yet for Vandy, Tech and Florida. The cutoff for the 5,000 Oklahoma State tickets was notably lower than last year’s cutoff for tickets to the Arizona State game, which was $27,007. Stillwater may indeed be a great little town, as Cowboys fans have been insisting in the blog comments, but it obviously is not as attractive a trip for UGA fans as Tempe was. …  [...]

University of Georgia record over Georgia Institute of Technology

59-39-5 .720 all-time since 1893

32-12 .727 overall since 1964 (the year Tech ran away from the SEC with their tiny stingers tucked between their legs)

12 wins in the last 44 years.

Tech would have to go 20-10 (a .667 clip compared to the previous one hundred sixteen years at .280) in order to EVEN this series within thirty years (2039 (Good news! Star Track [sic] might even be true by then)).

Thy beatdown cometh, bugs.

This is another Adams shell game. I don’t know about road games, but last year, Adams cut student tickets significantly and converted those seats to season tickets. In order to get a new season ticket, a fan had to donate over $20,000. The lifetime donation is just a PR ploy to disguise the real cost. If you wanted a new season ticket, you had to dump an awful lot of money into Adams’ coffers. Of course, the details of this scam are convoluted and incomprehensible. You can be sure, the price of tickets will continue to climb. The athletic department is wallowing in money while faculty has been cut and professors can’t use the departmental copy machine. But state legislators can always count on Adams to take care of them. Adams has proved as clever and devious as Bernie Madoff.

Orange Cowboy…sounds like you guys should actually support your program, then so that you don’t have to have lame package deal promotions. After we wax you guys (again), who knows what kind of packages you will have to sell next year. Maybe TBP can take time away from his wind farm sales to pony up more dough.

Bryan G-Lame package deal promotions? If you had gotten on it early enough, you could have had an OSU season ticket for as little as $336 ($42/game vs $80-100/game face value) up until about a month ago. Then you just simply sell the remaining seven games on-line and probably at least break even on the deal. Probably make money since Texas is coming to town this year. Not that tough a system to figure out. Even the OU fans managed to do that last year. You have to be at least as intelligent as the average OU fan.

Seems much simpler that having to pay as much as $20-30,000 in “lifetime” contributions just to get to go to some of your away games. So now remind me, whose deal is lame? As for next year? No need to worry about that. OU will be coming to Stillwater again. Guess which game the season ticket policy will be implemented on next year?

While it may be “easier” to simply buy the ticket packages online…UGA can’t do that with its season tickets. We actually have more “demand” than “supply.” You would understand that if you had graduated from a decent college.

Whatever Bryan. You are sounding more like a typical OU fan all the time. You know absolutely nothing about OSU beyond the football team and maybe Boone Pickens. You have no idea whether it’s a “decent college” or not. If you are judging a particular university based solely on the relative success of it’s football program, then you are too far gone to try and reason with. So, I’m outta here on this conversation.

If anybody wants to discuss the game to be played on Sept. 5 without stooping to the petty derogatory remarks about the respective universities and general trash talk, I’m all for it.

Orange Cowboy- you seem to be a pretty level headed fan, just ignore the others. I am curious, have you heard any news about what the players think about Bill Young’s style of defense vs your last coordinator?

$20,000-$30,000 is nothing for most dawg fans to get tickets. Many of the big dawg fans are millionaires and can easily pony up this type of coin or a lot more if needed to get tickets to the big games. Money is no object when you are buying into a big time football program—the cheap need to stay home and let the big dawgs play baby!!!

OrangeCowboy

Jax-I’ve heard quite a bit on that. Apparently, they really like both Young and his defensive coaching style and philosophy. For the players that are seniors, Young is their 3rd DC. Whereas the last two guys were younger, really fiery type of guys, Young is older and a lot more laid back. Also, the previous DC’s had some pretty complicated schemes and the players always seemed to be back on their heels having to think a bit too much. Young came in and kept the same terminology that they were used to, but really simplified things. His philosophy is that the guys can play faster if they aren’t having to think as much. He’s also a big stickler for good, fundamental football, which is something OSU’s players really needed. Way too many missed tackles in the past.

Most of us are cautiously optimistic that Coach Young can eventually improve the defense. Young has had great success at some bigtime programs such as Ohio State, USC, and OU. He even took a terrible Kansas defense and turned them into the No. 12-ranked defense in 2007 and they went on to win a BCS bowl that year. Of course, it didn’t happen overnight. It took some time. But, as fans tend to do, many of ours have gone way overboard and seem to think he will come in and make a huge improvement in the defense right away, like even for the UGA game. I think that is a lot to ask. But, any improvement will help.

Has UGA played many offense similar to OSU’s? OSU basically runs a spread, but they also run/pass about 50/50. A lot of their running is kind of a zone-read option and Robinson is pretty good at running it. I know OSU’s option is completely different than Georgia Tech’s.

Hey Comin Down the Track – did you say that Tech needs to go 20 and 10 over the next 30 games to even the series – clearly your Math degree is in line with your rooting interest – uh let’s see 59-39 all time, if Tech wins 20 that makes 59, if UGA wins 10, that makes 69. Learn to add – that would be 69-59 UGA by 2039. Your argument is valid – UGA has been better overall, your Math not so good. Every year is different, for now, you need to live with losing last year and waiting until Nov to get your revenge.

Neyland Stadium puts the Dawgs in the nosebleed section and its a small one. We saw more folks tailgating with no tickets than those who actually got into that stadium the last time there were at UT.
I saw it first hand two years ago. We got tickets because we now live in Knoxville and my husband used his bosses season tickets now that would be me the lone Red in a sea of Orange and those fans are fanatic so good luck. We have tickets this year for the Red and Orange game the beer spilled all over was worth the scene but lets hope the Dawgs at least win in UT country. The fans in K-town are fired up, me fired up to watch Kiffin make an arse out of himself.

Greg McMackin, 3 times you said what ? Did you read what he actually did say 3 times ? Being a coach for the San Francisco 49ers taught him no life lessons. Charlie Weis says he is offended by the quote. This newspaper has chosen not to print what Greg McMackin said; the same cannot be said for the Idaho Statesman who printed it 30 July 2009.

Average Preseason Polls shows that Georgia is ranked Number 13, 14 or 15 in every single preseason poll, except for Lindys’ (17) and Rivals (18). Lindys’ has forever been and always will be a joke. Rivals, who really does not do their own Preseason Poll and never has, has UGA Number 18.

Phil Steele, the Most Accurate Preseason Predictor, has UGA Number 13 and Georgia Tech UNRANKED.

Congrove has Georgia Number 14 and Georgia Tech UNRANKED.

National Champs dot net has UGA Number 15.

There are no Polls with UGA ranked worse than 18.

Then, you come here to the AJ-C and Georgia Tech who ended their 8th Consecutive Season ranked WORSE than UGA in the Final AP Poll at 9-4 playing a soft schedule, and there is not one word here either about the fact that Las Vegas has picked UGA to beat Tech. That does not look very good for Georgia Tech to me, and the recruiting rankings once again show that UGA is Number 4 best Recruiting Class in the nation for 2010 again, and Georgia Tech once again UNRANKED.

Where is the Georgia Tech WebPages URL Link such as this one ? The Dawgbone dot com.
