ISP, Georgia’s new radio rights holder, continues to develop plans for this fall’s football broadcasts.
Jeff Huffman, general manager of ISP’s Georgia operation, tells me that portions of an expanded four-hour pregame show and two-hour postgame show will air at home games from the Hotel Indigo opening soon in downtown Athens. Other portions of the shows will air from Sanford Stadium, as in the past.
The boutique hotel is located at 500 College Avenue.
Georgia has said that Loran Smith and Neil Williamson will continue in their roles as hosts of the pregame show, and WSB-TV sports anchor Chuck Dowdle told me last night that he will join the postgame radio show to conduct the locker-room interviews with coach Mark Richt and players. Georgia also has said that Smith will continue as sideline reporter during games.
There is more to come in terms of on-air talent. Huffman said contracts are still being finalized.
Between the pregame and postgame shows -– and, oh yes, the actual action -– Georgia’s radio network, including flagship WSB-750 AM in Atlanta, will have nine hours of programming from each game.

Mr. Huffman, please add another sideline reporter. Loran can still do his “feel good” reporting during the game, but we need someone to give us better injury updates and strategies related to the current game.

St Simons,
Do you do anything in life or sit by the computer waiting for the next story to come out on Georgia. I am sure most real Tech fans think you are really a dork. UGA fans should just ignore anyone that has nothing better to do in life. Pretty sad.

Vic Johnson – Loran Smith may leave some things to be desired by some, but his loyalty and dedication to UGA is without question. We as real fans, owe him for that loyalty and for all he does for the institution. An example of his dedication was (not sure about the present) to secure top notch speakers for The Touchdown Club of Athens and perhaps other Bulldog clubs. This is no small task. He know many sports figures, and is known by many sports figures – and respected! His dedication has been long and he deserves to continue his efforts as long as he is capable. I hope you will re-think your position. If every Bulldog was as loyal, well, all I can say is WOW! Rest assured, as we age, we change and even wind down without necessarily recognizing it. No one is perfect. Loran Smith is all DAWG!

You gotta hand it to Saint Simons. He is persistent and consistent, and is accomplishing his goal of p–ing me off. Hoepfully, the Dogs can change all of this in November, and we can say bye-bye to St. Simon. Until then, we just gotta put up with him…darn it!

Anything will be an improvement over Loran Smith in the postgame show. He has to be the worst interviewer of all time. Donnan used to get ticked at him and rightfully so. Richt is more tactful but still his questions are often asinine. Loran has done great service to the University, but it is time for him to take Larry’s cue and step aside.
