Team-by-team GPA’s

University of Georgia athletes in all men’s and women’s sports had a cumulative grade point average of 3.01 for spring semester, the highest ever by the school’s athletes, the UGA Athletic Association announced Thursday.

Of 508 student-athletes, 258 had GPA’s of 3.0 or higher for the semester.

HS Coach, that’s a good GPA for any team. Before any bufoons come calling, UGA had the HIGHEST APR of any SEC school this year, and yes, higher than gtech.

Based on the yellow jacket basketball team’s apr score, I doubt if they could answer the “1 + 1″ or “how many points do you get from a three pointer” questions. They WOULD, however, know what -2 is. It’s the number of scholarships your engineering trade school lost because of their pathetic performance. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Where are you, buddy? No reply? I know, I know, 45-42, but come again about the academically superior student-athletes you have at tech??

What classes are these scores from? My 5th grader can pass the senior level (grass cutting/golf course maintance), I mean landscape engineer degree classes. I mean really what classes are we comparing? A 3.0 in Pre-Med or Communication or Sports Management or African Studies? I had a 3.53 in International Marketing and Business Law, but my dad had a 2.87 as an EE at Tech and he is smarter than I am and his classes were harder than mine. These GPAs are a joke until you know the field of study. Look at the Georgia Government Educatation System and realize grades are just a number not any measure of KNOWLADGE or SMARTS.

So every athlete at tech is an engineering major? Riiiiiigggggghhhhttt.

Hey, perhaps the yellow jacket overall gpa included some of these “engineering” majors from the north avenue trade school:

The School of History, Technology, and Society

The School of Literature, Communication, and Culture

The School of Modern Languages

The School of Public Policy

Engineering student-athletes at tech?? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Instead of 3 = the number of points you get from a 3 point shot perhaps we should be talking about -2 which equals the number of bball scholarships you lost because of unacceptable academic performance. After all, the 3 point question was ages ago and the coach was fired. And just what happened to your bball coach with the underachieving academians? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

No GPA is not a sole measure of “smarts”. It is the measure of grades somebody made in college though, which was the point of the study and the article. Deal with it.

That’s about as silly as saying that personal income is not a true measure of everybody talents or work ethics. All true, but It is the measure of how much money you.

By your theory, where does your grandfather rank in overall “smartness”. And you really know your Dad’s college GPA? Odd. (I’ll give you credit, it take a lot self-confidence to not worry about everyone rolling thier eyes at the guy that would post his own GPA out here)

Grinch, I didn’t say all Tech players were taking the hardest level classes either. I was saying that they are talking GPA at UGA and you have to see the field of study. KNOWLADGE was to be sarcastic as is SMARTS as in street smarts that can’t be measured in them book learnin classes. Sorry sarcasim in my post was lost on you. UGA does have a player in Pre-Med and Tech has a Player in Aerospace Enginerring and neither are Kickers. So we both do have very smart players but you cannot compare their GPAs against Modern Language majors or Teaching majors. Did I make it clear enough for you now? It was not a slam per say it is just a 4.0 in one field of study does not make you smarter than a 2.6 in a different field of study.

Actually I think it was 2.89. I know I am close to the right GPA because before HOPE I had to get better grades than Dad if I wanted him to keep paying for school. If I didn’t beat his grades I had to pay for the next Quarter and more until I got my grades equal or better than Dad’s.

The GA basketball coaches need to dig up those old exams given by coach Jim Harrick Jr. in his basketball courses (example: how many points do you get for a 3 point shot?) and ask the UGA professors to use those instead, to get these players higher grades and keep them eligible!
