Very spirited workout today at Woodruff Practice Fields. It was the first day in shoulder pads and helmets and they were doing a lot more than “thud” as CMR calls the half-hitting-type practices. . . . Intense competition between the No. 1 O and No. 1 D during 11-on-11. Jeff Owens. even though still out injured, really fired up the defensive players by getting all the defensive guys to yell from before the snap count until the end of the play. He was jumping up and down, waving his arms, firing them up. He’s a real difference maker even when not on the field. . . . A.J. Green and Justin Houston got into a fight that ended with Green getting his helmet ripped off before it was broken up. . . . Later Kiante Tripp and Ben Jones locked up and ended up on the ground. . . . The coaches and players would just peel them apart and the scrimmage would keep going. Fun to watch.

Cuz : I figured if anybody could do it, John Smith could. Heckfire, I had an ancestor that was a part the Donner Party. They had enough respect for him as not to make him a main course, soup or appetizer after he went snow-blind and fell out. Just left him for the wolves. What the haze does that have to do with anything, you ask..? Nothing, I guess. After UT/OK ST, the beer drinking and yard work begins anew…

zoo : One of our granddaughters has a soccer game at 0900 hrs Saturday, a hour and 1/2 away from our foothill compound. I may not be able to put my winner and losers up until later in the day, but put them up I will..

Crimedog: Comparing Asher Allen and/or Dannell Ellerbe is asinine. Allen has never been in a lick of trouble and your insinuation is off base. Ellerbe has been in trouble but it fell into the category of “young and stupid” (drunk driving). . . .

Gen, no I see the Big Ten for what it is. Whatever that is. And I guess that would depend on what the meaning of the word is is.

zoo : What has happened to you is you’ve fallen for the Big 10 mumbo jumbo. ‘Course, I fully understand that trap by residing in the Twin Cities area for over 7 years. You know, I still like the Queens and the Cheeseheads but loathe Da Bears. I’ve got WI going as far as meeting Pitt… Alas, I too had MN but I took WK over IL. For the record, it’ll be easier to give you my losers for yesterday. Tomorrow, it’ll be easier for me to give you my winner…Lost MN, BYU, VCU,and Butler on Thursday. VCU and Butler should have pulled out the upset…If you get back to this specific blog tomorrow, I’ll give you my Friday’s results…It’ll be ugly but honest…
