I’m a little late to the party, but I just found out that the Daytona Beach Pier re-opened this summer. The 87-year-old pier was closed for about two years as it underwent over $5 million in restoration and renovations, including the tasty addition of Joe’s Crab Shack as its primary tenant – right at the end of the pier at the Atlantic Ocean’s edge. (Look for the new pier location of Joe’s in its national TV commercials!)
This area has always been great for families and now it’s even better with all that’s new. And what’s really awesome is in another few months, you can ride one of America’s only oceanfront roller coasters. The 1,700 foot steel coaster was the main attraction at an amusement park in Delaware and it’s near completion at its new location at the Boardwalk Amusement Area.
In the meantime, you can take a ride on the 100-foot Ferris Wheel, Tilt-A-Whirl, a go-kart track and the Slingshot. Not to mention grab a slice of pizza, have an ice cream and get the been-there-done-that T-shirt while the ocean breeze gently blows your cares away.
See you there!
