The Party Never Stops in Key West

Oh, what a feeling, when you are dancing on Duval Street. Get ready to savor the flavors of the islands and celebrate the cultural connections between Key West and the Bahamas.

The annual Goombay Street Festival will take place Oct. 19 and 20, 2012, in the heart of the historic Bahama Village neighborhood in Key West.

Entertainment will play a major role this year, with a lineup of Caribbean-influenced entertainers performing on a main stage at Petronia and Emma streets, and a second stage on Petronia off Duval. Get ready to dance to the beats of roots reggae and Latin-Afro fusion.

Other planned festival highlights include a Junkanoo Rush of costumed marchers, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday through Key West's downtown and Bahama Village.

Goombay weekend marks the beginning of Fantasy Fest, the island city's 10-day masking and costuming gala, scheduled Friday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 28.

Where to Stay: Ocean Key Resort & Spa has the unique distinction of being able to claim Zero Duval Street as its location, which also overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and the Sunset Pier with its famous daily Sunset Celebration. At Ocean Key, you are in the heart of it all. Almost everything is accessible by foot or by bike. Make sure to try some Latin cuisine at Hot Tin Roof waterfront restaurant and lounge.
