Fun Stone Crab Fact: In order to assure the continued survival of the species, only one claw may be removed so the crab can defend itself. After a claw is removed, the crab is returned to water and the claw regenerates.

Update: It turns out my fun 'fact' is fiction. JoNell Modys, PR & Communications Manager for the Naples, Marco Island and Everglades CVB, says both claws can be harvested if they measure 2 3/4 from the bottom tip of the claw to the bend of the claw. Thanks for the info, JoNell!
