Lotto salesmen on the loose again

Thinking Right’s weekend free-for-all. Pick a topic:

● Always looking for an opening to expand ways to take the milk-and-egg money of the poor and the pipe-dreamers, promoters are quick to grasp the down economy and over-promised HOPE scholarship to call for video gambling. If you ever lived in a poor neighborhood you know: There’s always somebody knocking on misery’s door promising salvation or riches — and asking for just a little of your money.

● Those who have paid attention over the past quarter century to the sleazing of daytime TV have to acknowledge the extraordinary feat of Oprah Winfrey. As the competing offerings descended into non-stop trash-talk, she remained plugged-in to the concerns, interests and values of mainstream America and, in the process, elevated book-reading to a family priority. She is one of the remarkable figures of our time.

● In an age of deep partisanship, it’s rare to find any policy or any public figure that pulls them together across the political spectrum. That was, in fact, the case though at the investiture ceremony for U.S. District Judge Steve Jones, most recently of the Superior Court bench in Athens. The group included UGA President Michael Adams, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, State Sen. Bill Cowsert, and enough others from the area and from the state’s legal community to fill three courtrooms. It included all members of the Georgia Supreme Court and some from the 11th Circuit and from the Georgia Court of Appeals. Imagine the shock, though, to see the name of one of my judicial heroes on the program. I assumed he’d appear by video from D.C. But no, up pops U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. He came specifically to honor Jones and to present him his commission. I’m rarely wowed. I was at his presence and at the affection of so many for Jones.

● Tell me why the Cobb school board would pick a new school superintendent who, as recently as September, would agree to honor a contract that the Dallas, Texas, district just extended to 2015? A contract is the board’s word of honor that it will keep you employed and your word of honor that you will not abandon your commitment to a community and its kids. Dallas Superintendent Michael Hinojosa may be attractive, but it’s dishonorable of the school board to employ him.

● A headline you really hope is true: “Clayton schools get back on track.” The headline tops the news that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools had restored full accreditation to the county’s school system. Parents and their children have endured a years-long ordeal brought about by the county’s rapid transition that briefly permitted bad actors to get elected to the school board. If that’s over, it’s great news for parents.

● A tea party candidate in a Republican-heavy New York congressional district pulls a Ross Perot and swings the district to a Democrat in this week’s special election. The resulting story? It was a “referendum on the party’s controversial plan to transform Medicare.” Splintering the conservative and/or Republican vote to make statements almost always leads to undesirable consequences.

● Check the documentation of illegals? Maybe. But be sure to include Californians. The U.S. Supreme Court has just ordered California to release up to 40,000 prisoners. The 5-4 decision is “perhaps the most radical injunction issued by a court in our nation’s history” dissented Justice Antonin Scalia.

These Blue Meanies see, or care not to see, a guy so different from the Jefferson I see that either ther are or I am on the wrong plane altogether. Jefferson has so much to do with their roles as frontline officers in Washington City, quite a lot to do with my role as educator, and everything to do with our shared role as citizens of a common democracy that I’d like to think that these gentle protestors assumed their rights would be preserved there above any other place. Indeed their remarks on this tape bear out the expectation. It’s tde cops who let us all down with their ignorance, the ignorance of blackshirted il fascisti. Mussolini’s thugs.

Their death started with their sick prosecution of Richard, and continued with their equally determined, lawless libel of Rudy on the same grounds. They’re one of the last great dailies to go down but deserve to be among the first ruined.

Remember the scene in the television miniseries Roots. It showed slave masters having a difficult time progressively brainwashing Kunta Kinte into Toby. But in 2011, there is no need for slave masters. Like the jobs of many Americans, technology has made their work obsolete. It has been incorporated in our schools of learning i.e. Elementary, High, Colleges, and Universities.

So far, the schools of learning are performing below expectation. But there are successful examples of progressive brainwashing i.e. Al Sharpton-Toby, Bill Cosby-Toby, Ben Jealous-Toby, Michelle Obama-Toby, Oprah Winfrey-Toby, Whoopi Goldberg-Toby, Tyler Perry-Toby, Don Lemon-Toby, Jesse Jackson-Toby… etc. etc. etc.

It is the duty of white people to single out a progressively brainwashed Toby in their race.

But like anything man made, the individual progressive brainwashing is not fool proof or fail-safe. You know Who TBO and our separate society have, by the power of God Almighty, overcome being progressively transformed from Kunta Kinte into Toby. As we speak, our separate but equal society is experiencing the essence of freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It is the duty of white people to single out individuals in their race who have escaped being transformed from Kunta Kinte into Toby.

There are three parts to progressive brainwashing. Firstly, the individual progressive brainwashing can totally succeed e.g. like many of the individuals bearing the last name of Toby listed above. Secondly, the individual brainwashing can totally fail e.g. like You Know Who, TBO and our separate society…And thirdly, the individual brainwashing can short-circuit and render a person half- slave and half-free e.g.-

It is the duty of white people to single out individuals in their race that’s been short-circuited by progressive brainwashing and are rendered half-slave and half-free.

Amen?

When I used to teach about obscenity laws, as I recall the Supremes warmed to this notion that such Journals as “Playboy” peddled flesh, yes, but nevertheless were constitutionally protected because, net, there was an idea there: on balance a certain notion of what a modern Western man might be. Reading between the lines of your racial obscenities I admit that there are ideas there. I wish we could unpack the ideas and leave the silly insults aside. Yes, sure there was blowback from the Movement. Always happens. When MLK died he had become a full-throated Socialist ( not to say the Communist that Hoover imagined) but also he was trying to get at institutional racism, which he clearly viewed as the nation’s unfinished business. Unfortunately–despite bold efforts of some of this country’s most earnest and capable people–it remains a job unaccomplished. If you have some idea of how to take down that beast then I’m all ears. By discipline I’m an historical anthropologist of the phenomenological school, so some of my colleagues and I would agree with your unspeakable observation that the Movement, upon King’s tragic death, got stuck, amberized and converted into kitsch for the likes of Gov. Carter. To his credit, Carter attacked the dragon of institutional racism (so, by the way, did Clarence Thomas do), but he essentially failed. And so the dragon lives. I’d like to see the thing beheaded while Mr. Carter lives.

That’s good, what you wrote. I keep trying to explain to you that it’s too late in the history of Science to pretend that race is other than a counterproductive social construct. Probably Eli Parker, General Graint’s Chief of Staff, had occasion to convince Grant of this. The latter YouTube video doesn’t open for me.

As Paul said, we are all one in Christ. One. Not severable.

If you truly want the best for The Movement’s children then good. Let’s talk. I edited the first governmental report on the status of young African American males, so your former video is to me a bumper sticker. Whenever you’re feeling serious, let’s talk.

Christians should not talk about or discuss anything holy with dogs, and should not cast their pearls before swine. If Christians make that mistake, the enemies of God Almighty will stamp all things holy and sacred with their feet, and then turn to subtlety attack without Christians being aware of it.

A radio host on 1380 WAOK radio, in the person of Biv Bev Dykes Smith, is an enemy to Christianity and particularly black Christians. Contacts monitoring the enemies of black people in the media told me Bev Dykes Smith interviewed a black man that had been shot in the head and lost his sight. And after becoming sightless, the man turned to God Almighty and the ministry.

Under the guise of an interview, Robin Roberts, Chris Brown style, Biv Bev Dykes Smith ridiculed the young black pastor and focused the interview primarily on his traumatic injury; not his ministry. And at one point during the interview, she told the man she believe he could see etc. Unaware that he was in the company of an enemy among black people, he innocently reassured Biv Bev Dykes Smith that he is 100% blind.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ told us to never talk about or discuss anything holy with dogs, and not to cast our pearls before swine. He said if we make that mistake, they will stamp upon our pure innocent nature with their feet and turn violently to attack us without justification.

Amen?

Actually, Brother, our Lord didn’t so warn; it’s one account. Still, it’s good advice, you must admit. I have no idea what you’re talking about in concept of a Scripture-driven kid murdering his family. This strikes me as the kind of crap that lapsed Jewiish sophomores begged so very cleverly in the warm months of 1968.

I have no idea where you get off name jacking me. Have you ever the experience of someone writing counterfeit, as you just now did me? It’s a strange rape. I wouldn’t do it to you, much less on behalf of a once important daily.
