- President Barack Obama, if not a socialist, is an extreme liberal. Only somebody on that end of the spectrum thinks like this, from his address Wednesday night to Congress on the cost of his proposed health care agenda: “Add it all up, and the plan I’m proposing will cost around $900 billion over 10 years — less than we have spent on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.” National security, to the left, is the reason money’s not available to spend on their social agenda.
- This president is utterly amazing. He tells us that the government that built waste and inefficiency in its programs will now cut them out so we’ll all get better health care for less money without adding a dime to the deficit. Said he: “Reducing the waste and inefficiency in Medicare and Medicaid will pay for most of this plan.” Americans are not dummies. They know that’s not so.
- While U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) was disrespectful to the office of the president to yell “You lie” during Obama’s speech, an outburst for which he apologized, Democrats have so many hidden agendas on health care, as they did on the $787 billion stimulus bill, that you simply cannot trust their leaders to tell the truth.
- Join now in praising and applauding Piedmont Hospital. It drops a lawsuit to block Gwinnett Medical Center from establishing a program to provide open-heart surgeries, something the state has approved. The public-interest decision by Piedmont leaves only Emory University Hospital litigating against Gwinnett.
- Liberals ask every few months: Have school vouchers revolutionized or radically improved public education? Fine. But you never hear them asking those questions about spending proposals they support.
- What? No Kennedy serving in the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts? Robert F. Kennedy’s oldest son, Joe, announced that he won’t seek the seat held by Uncle Ted. Kennedys have held the seat for 54 of the last 56 years. To be honest, I’m really ready to move on from the ’60s. And that includes Hugh Hefner, divorcing at 83. That era is so ancient and the people who live in it are so tired.
- Of course Sandy Springs should be allowed to escape federal supervision under the archaic Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. It couldn’t be guilty of anything. It didn’t exist until 2005.
- Yuk, yuk, yuk. Glock, the pistol manufacturer, gets $960 in federal stimulus money to buy weapons for three federal law enforcement officials. Firearms are still lawful, are they not? And those who make them are no different than those who make automobiles, medicines or windmills.
- Note to Atlanta city election prognosticators: Deduct one McDonald’s coffee klatch, say seven votes, from the projected total for mayoral candidate Lisa Borders. Aaron Turpeau, one of the would-be kingmakers who distributed the memo urging other blacks in the race to get out so Borders could beat the leading white candidate, Mary Norwood, has withdrawn his endorsement.
- Iran’s got a fix on President Obama and the United Nations. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to hold talks with the West on Iran’s nuclear program. This after Ahmadinejad appointed as defense minister a man wanted in Argentina for bombing a Jewish community center that killed 85 in 1984. They want to talk because they know the U.N. is a house puppy — it threatens more sanctions after Iran has defied three sets already — and the Obama administration won’t strike while engaged in talk.
- Couples plan weddings and ask guests to foot the bill. Tacky today, yesterday and tomorrow. Trailer-trash tacky.
- Having now seen daytime TV, this warning to would-be retirees: It’s a wasteland. I’m amazed that the audience being targeted has the money to support advertising — though much of it appears to be trial lawyers soliciting accident and medical malpractice suits against those with deep pockets. America’s in trouble. And so’s public education.

We have been on the brink of loosing Grady. Medicare will be folding
in 2017. Have we ever seen such a mess—all because the health care cost are soaring sky hi. What suggestions do you have to solve all our problems?

20% of every dollar spent on medicare is fraud–is Medicaid 20 % also?
Hopefully someone–somewhere will clean it up? Is this impossible?
So far, the only thing I can criticize—are the very critical viewpoints that roll out from those that do not know the facts.

Nice try JW. I don’t remember you protesting when Bush gave the country tax cuts that amounted to about $2.1 Trillion in lost revenue. When you factor in the Medicare prescription plan and the Iraq war, the bill climbs to over $4 Trillion. At least real folks are being helped with this bill. I don’t recall you calling that too expensive. So please, don’t tell us about expense. You Republicans lost all credibility on that. What did the conservative Heritage Institute say about President Bush’s fiscal policies? Most fiscally irresponsible in recent memory.
BTW, weren’t you also one of those who protested the scrapping of the F-22 program? I guess that program, at $100 million a jet, was bargain dollars in your book, right?

National defense? The Iraq war started by George W. Hitler, for no legitimate reason, has drained us to the tune of at least one billion per month since we began our naked, illegal aggression. I don’t recall ever reading your complaints about that. You, and others of your ilk, have no problem spending billions and billions on war and death but anything that helps human beings is labeled socialist and unacceptable.
You accuse Democrats of being untrustworthy but it is the Republicans who have lied about their wars, the economy and fiscal responsibility. Bush and the Republicans allowed their cronies to bleed the American economy through outright fraud. You have never had a problem with that. Mandate that EACH ONE shall PAY for HIS/HER OWN healthcare insurance, just like your car! If you cannot pay a modest fee per month or quarter, then you will be satisfied NOT to receive treatment that you might need. This wont apply to indigent and disabled.
When EACH ONE pays for HIS/HER own then the costs for ALL will come down. STRIVE to be SMARTER than the EVIL controlling ORIGINAL party of SLAVERY, democrackkks, WANT you to be!

And Mr. Wilson should have been hauled out of the Chamber by the police, in front of TV cameras. The debate is focused on cost but is really about who pays. the cost in the system is in defensive medicine and over care. we want more than we need. why is it that southern women have a higher rate of hysterectomy than western women. are they any less hysterical??. why do we do stress tests on 50 y/o men with exertional chest pain when a cath is the better test? why do we test somebody with right arm pain for 12 hours for a heartattack when the overwhelming majority(>99%) are normal? the answer to question one is that doctors can’t quickly and efficiently police themselves(antitrust,etc.) the second is that insurance and other entities ignore science to save money. the third is that fear of suits drive more of the healthcare system than any one would admit.

If you want to really lower the costs of healthcare in this country….go after the “ambulance chaser” lawyers. Any doctor of medicine will tell you that their number one cost in their profession is liability and malpractice insurance.

Therefore, my question: “What are we protecting when we are destroying ourselves from within? Health care itself has become a “privilege” for the privileged few”: those who have the money. Another question: “What and who do we value in this great country that we call America?” We pride ourselves in protecting the shell, but we can’t take care of our interior”: the treasures who are the people who make up these United States! Our values are certainly skewed!

Are you kidding me? When members of Congress expressed their disapproval of the outburst of U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) during Obama’s speech, it was a staged event too. It was all show business targeted at the psyche of Americans, real Americans.
As members of Congress booed etc., showing disapproval of Rep. Joe Wilson, they were reinforcing positions that are near and dear to each of them. That it’s unacceptable for citizens to sternly challenge politicians, Unconstitutional politicians, especially at town hall meetings. And should a citizen make an outburst at a town hall meeting, so-called disrespecting the office of the politician, other attendees at the town hall meeting should respond like the members of Congress. And the citizen making the outburst should quickly apologize like Rep. Joe Wilson. And the politician will immediately accept the apology of a citizen, like President Obama, as long as citizens accept a subordinate submissive position in the face of Unconstitutional behavior on behalf of politicians.
That is the method of madness coming from the hills of Washington D.C. And it’s buttressed by surrogates in the media, radio, television, and print throughout the country. In my mind, Classical and Operant conditioning is practiced by the government and the media for the purpose of controlling the behavior of Americans, real Americans.

However, when Sanford does the same, he doesn’t apply those standards to himself. Hypocrite, with a capital H. That’s what makes the Republicans a complete joke.
I don’t care what the Founding Fathers thought about personal morality. They lived in an age where anyone but white guys were chattel. They set up a very flexible Constitution. We are responsible for making our own decisions. And you speak like they were one monolithic entity, it’s not like they all agreed on anything, including who should play hide the salami with whom, religious views, or politics for that matter.

It’s difficult to watch any evening news broadcast for the pharm commercials. (Yes, I know old people still do it, but nobody wants to hear about it!) I wonder: -> How much does Big Pharm spend on TV ads for products only a doctor can prescribe? -> How many of those billions could be spent on research instead? -> How much have their profits risen as the result of their ongoing TV advertising? (It must be significant or they wouldn’t do it.) -> How much could the cost of health care be reduced in this country if people weren’t CONVINCED they need a little pill for any and every twinge, when in fact, lifestyle changes could reduce or eliminate so many ailments? -> Are the people who market cheese-stuffed pizza crusts in bed with the people who market the little purple pill for heartburn? -> Would the American economy collapse completely if people simultaneously stopped eating garbage and taking heartburn pills?

First, the 9/11 Commission Report concluded unequivocally that NOTHING could have been done to prevent the event(s) from happening. There was only vague information. Second, the first point is not necessarily true by the 9/11 Commission’s findings. Why? I’ll tell you. Because the ONLY thing that 100% could have prevented the attacks would have been to BAN all Arab Muslims from ALL Middle Eastern nations from flying on airliners destined to the US or IN the US. Obama’s Marxist/Muslim government has an openly hostile policy toward our friend Israel. Obama is trying to force feed his so called Saudi Peace Initiative to Israel. This pro-Arab plan would be the death of Israel with it’s demands that Israel be divided to the point of undefendable borders. Barack Obama and the radical Saudi Muslims are demanding land that Israel can’t give and survive. Also included in Obama’s Saudi friend’s vulgar plan is the Arab right of return to flood Israel with millions of Muslim jihadists and demands the surrender of Jerusalem to the Arabs. The American mainstream media is not revealing the depth of Obama’s massive pressure on the Jews of Israel and at this moment only 4% of Israeli Jews consider Obama a friend. It is a fact that Obama is the most hostile US President toward Israel ever. The Jews of Israel live every day with the snarling wolves of Islam at their door. The verbal food fights on AJC are fantastic to read and I don’t have to stay after school to clean up the lunchroom. I am certain our neighbors north of the border like Canada and south of the border like Mexico and South America find these rantings more interesting than soap operas. Keep it up! Perhaps the Afghans and Iraqis will be viewing them too from their internet cafes.
