"This Sunday, GQ magazine is posting on its Web site an article adding new details to the ample dossier on how Donald Rumsfeld’s corrupt and incompetent Defense Department cost American lives and compromised national security. The piece is not the work of a partisan but the Texan journalist Robert Draper, author of “Dead Certain,” the 2007 Bush biography that had the blessing (and cooperation) of the former president and his top brass. It draws on interviews with more than a dozen high-level Bush loyalists."

Core Values

I haven't read a single negative comment from just one Conservative commentator about the concept of Miss California parading around in high heels and underwear for the visual pleasure of the audience.

Conservative core values cannot be simply convenient. Or can they?

DanZ - the so-called "Tea Party" was nothing more than a one-night stunt for Fox News to generate television ratings. It accomplished absolutely nothing other than to allow sore losers to vent irrational, fearful and juvenile rage against newly-elected President Obama.

I am happy you have many Muslim friends. Maybe you can talk to them yourself the next time they are at your house watching soccer or golf together.

Looks like this column has just about run its course. What interested me is the fact that we middle -class ,suburbanite Republicans don't stand a chance of winning the war with neo-Socialists if we don't become more inclusive of what used to be called "minorities".Those of us willing to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps and create businesses by risking capital will soon be overrun by the parasitic hoardes who haven't a clue what we're talking about. Most of them have never had to make a Friday night payroll and every dollar they've earned goes straight into their pockets.
If the socialists only remembered their history, they'd know that when the totalitarians take over, first go the teachers, then the artists, and lastly the business leaders.Anybody who has a grain of creativity in his head.Just look at the buildings in East Germany when the walls came down, compared to those in West Germany.
We need the immigrants for their creative genius, their family values, their faith, their belief in the opportunity America offers, their willingness to delay gratification, their ability to spend their wealth in the hope of creating fortunes,I could go on and on!
Socialists have no problem with helping people as long as it's yours and my dollar they're using, look ay the charitable contributions over the last 10 years of the likes of Obama,Biden,Gore,Kerry,Pelosi and Kennedy and compare them to their Republican counter-parts.We capiltalista believe that 3 groups of people need assistance,a)Children b)the elderly c)the handi-capped,the rest of us should basically fend for ourselves, with certain accommodations to be sure.
Lastly,to my Muslim friends, and I'm proud to say I have quite a few.Because of events of the past decade, many Americans are sceptical of you and that is sad. Many of you have told me how you greatly admire Pres.Bush and in fact have his picture on your living room walls. We need for you to step forward and lock arms with us in defeating the middle-east terrorists.I can only imagine that some of you might be risking life and limb to do so,I just don't think that you realize how much good will it would create if had your own version of the "Tea Party" to show the average American like myself how much you appreciate this country and how utterly disgusted you are with those terrorists and their evil ways.
Jim Wooten, thanks for starting the conversation!

Mister Earl, it's a valid definition, applicable to all aspects of so-called "political correctness". What's "silly" (bordering on sheer lunacy) is the application of cultural Marxism.

... both Cheney and Limbaugh avoided military service of their own. Also, both Dennis Miller and William Kristol were of age during Vietnam, but never served. John Bolton didn't want to "die in a rice paddy" in Vietnam. Sean Hannity and Frank Gaffney never served either. Hannity and Limbaugh never made it through college, and Cheney barely did himself. That is just a sampling of the right-wing hawks and neo-cons that have strongly advocated and continue to stongly advocate the use of military force as the primary tool of US foreign policy.

Contrast that cowardly crew with some of the individuals who insist that military force should only be used as a last resort, and have questioned either the decision to go to war in Iraq or the war's subsequent conduct. Such people include: Chuck Hagel (2 purple hearts as an infantryman in Vietnam)"; Colin Powell; Jim Webb (purple heart and Navy Cross in Vietnam); and Anthony Zinni (Vietnam infantry Marine and former CentCom Commander).

It is beyond ironic and hypocritical that the Republican Party portrays itself as the party that is strong on national defense and "tough" while its spokesmen and leaders are nothing more than draft dodgers and intellectual lightweights. Every time one of those individuals speak about aggressively using the military, the first question that should be posed to them is "why didn't you serve when it was your time?"

Who ever promised it would be safe to be an American? It was not safe for the Founding Fathers or the colonists to wage revolution. It was not safe for Lincoln to fight for the Union. Do we really want to be the first generation of Americans to be too scared to stand up for the Constituion?

The Constitution only stands so long as Americans are willing to die for it. What Cheney proposes, an American populace with so little courage that they would cast aside the Constitution to save their necks, is the lowest form of treason.

Cheney, who had five deferments himself to get out of going to Vietnam, would rather follow a blowhard entertainer who has had three divorces and a drug problem (who also avoided Vietnam) than a four-star general who spent his life serving his country.
