The Republican party began to slide in 2000 when its far right wing forced the inept "W" upon us rather than John McCain, who I would have voted for. If "W's" last name weren't "Bush," he would be selling used cars somewhere. Dumb!

The Dems will hold serve in 2010. President Obama will crush whoever the pubs put up in 2012. Sarah Palin will be the Alf Landon of this century. Bank on it!

The Republicans have no credibility or track record as the party of limited government or fiscal responsibility, which is going to make the GOP "recovery" more difficult. They will recover, just as the Democrats recovered, but as long as the "core" constituency remains on the far right, they'll be the minority party.
Moderation is a virtue useful to both parties, but the current climate in the GOP treats moderation as if it were the swine flu. Give the GOP another dismal election cycle and some of them will start to realize the value of moderation.

Good mroning, Jim

Hope has returned to the United States after the ravages of the Bush era. The severe damages wrecked by the Georgia General Assembly this term demonstrate irrefutably that conservatives cannot be allowed to toy with something so precious as government without adult supervision. Georgia's future is still grim, but there is a bright dawning for most of the rest of the country. Enjoy it.

Wooten is late again, so allow me to summarize today's column...

"Obama's presser last night proved that he is not ready to lead our great nation, and that he is a dangerous socialist who is out of step with real America. Whatever he said, because I fell asleep during the 7 p.m. Matlock re-run."

In the midst of this liberal euphoria of life under the chosen one, we have seen numerous references to a poll where only 21% of voters said they were Republicans.

Two points:

49% voted for Bush in the last election.

In the same poll, _only_ 35% said they were Democrats. When being a Democrat is so fashionable and only 35% want to be on the winning team, I'd say they predictions of the demise of the GOP is premature.

Poultry:

Both, would be nice.

...but redundant, don'tcha think?

Maybe once school's out, I'll have more time.

Was just reading how Putin cut in on our "dance" with Iran.

A row between Ashgabat and Moscow has resulted in Russia having an even firmer grip on Turkmenistan’s energy supplies. This is not good news for the Iranians.

How so? you might ask.....or not ask if you're gone.

Natural gas. He continues to gain leverage because of natural resources and Russia's geographic location. Russia's works to their advantage in, oh-so-many ways and against in others. Ours? The same.

It really does, like you said, boil down to the resolve of a nation's people and their fixity of purpose, doesn't it, Poultry?

When was the last time I told you yours was admired?

What exactly do you mean?

Or then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then, then?
