Jane Fonda has moved away from Atlanta – but she didn’t stay gone long.

We caught up with her Wednesday night for an interview prior to Taste of the Nation. The sips-and-nibbles extravaganza at the Georgia Aquarium benefited Share Our Strength, which combats childhood hunger.

“I’ve become a resident of Los Angeles, but I’ll never leave Atlanta,” said Fonda, noting she has family, friends and her two charities here.

Her swank Poncey-Highland pad is still on the market (it’s yours for $4.5 million or $10,000 a month if you prefer to lease) but she won’t be here to personally give you a tour. She leaves for Paris soon for a film project there, and then heads to upstate New York for a film called “Peace, Love and Misunderstanding.”

Such opportunities are the reason for her move back west, and she got a little choked up when we asked if she was sad to move …

Actress-activist-philanthropist Jane Fonda, who announced on Monday that she’s quitting Atlanta for Los Angeles, is apparently not wasting time getting a move on.

Her 4,700 square-foot, three-bedroom, three full bathroom Poncey Highland loft is being marketed for immediate occupancy, said Laura Crumley, who’s dealing with potential buyers or tenants.

“Her stuff is moving out tomorrow,” Crumley told Buzz, noting that some pieces of furniture may remain if the place is leased rather than purchased. By the way the asking price for a lease arrangement is $10,000 per month.

Lest some enterprising event planner seek to lease the spot and then throw bashes billed as a “Party at Jane’s,” Crumley said she did not think the building’s covenants would permit that sort of endeavor.

Just after hosting her “World Fitness Day” event downtown over the weekend, Jane Fonda says she’s leaving Atlanta for Los Angeles.

“This is a hard blog to write,” she posted. “I have been in Atlanta for 19 years. It has been my home and I have been very happy here. I came here with Ted Turner and when we separated, I stayed. It’s been 10 years since then. I built myself a loft that I truly thought would be my home till I died. I love it so. My daughter, my soon-to-be son-in-law and my two grandchildren live here. My two non-profits are here: The Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and The Jane Fonda Center at the Emory School of Medicine where the focus is on adolescent reproductive health and sexuality. So you see, my decision to move to Los Angeles has not been easy.”

She says she went out to L.A. for knee replacement last year and decided she “still wanted to work in film.”

Jane Fonda with a man who was billing himself as a wealthy philanthropist at an October 2007 G-CAPP fundraiser in Atlanta.

More than two years ago one Christian Michael de Medici announced a generous gift to the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention.

Billed as an “entrepreneur and philanthropist,” he was introduced at a fundraiser by organization founder Jane Fonda as he handed over the keys to a house. It was to be used for G-CAPP’s Doula Project, pairing birth attendants with pregnant girls.  About a year later the house went into foreclosure and the man calling himself de Medici had left town.

“We all regret the experience,” G-CAPP CEO Michele Ozumba told Buzz Monday.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the man, whose real name is Michael Manos, was arrested last week “on a parole violation warrant out of New York.” He has “an extensive rap sheet stretching back to 1979 for convictions ranging from kidnapping to robbery,” and was released from prison in …
