Legal troubles continue for rapper Da Brat, known around the courthouse as Shawntae Harris.
Shayla Stevens, an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader injured in 2007 with a liquor bottle at a club owned by rap mogul Jermaine Dupri, has filed suit alleging “permanent facial scarring, neurological impairment and severe mental pain.” The suit, filed the other day in Fulton Superior Court, also named other defendants, including Dupri and So So Def Productions.
Last year, Da Brat was sentenced to three years in prison, seven years of probation, 200 hours of community service, substance abuse treatment, a mental evaluation and anger management classes following the incident.
On Halloween night 2007, she attended a private party at Studio 72, a Lawrenceville Highway nightclub owned by Dupri. At some point, she bumped into Stevens, who was working as a hostess at the event. Moments later, the rapper struck Stevens in the head with a nearly full bottle of rum,
