When it comes to celebrity news not much is very shocking these days. But the audio RadarOnline.com says it attained of Mel Gibson’s racist rant against his ex-girlfriend just makes you stare blankly into space. Or does it?

Gibson is in the middle of a bitter custody dispute with Oksana Grigorieva over their infant daughter. She apparently taped him during a series of arguments and well, there aren’t enough bleeps to make it printable.

At one point he reportedly is heard saying she looks like a “pig in heat” and it would be her fault if she was raped by a group of men – and no, it wasn’t stated so nicely. He also threatened to burn down the house.

Gibson is no stranger to foot-in-mouth disorder. In 2006, the Oscar winner had an anti-Semitic outburst against the Malibu police when he was arrested for DUI.

TMZ is reporting that Courtney Love has lost legal guardianship of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. We aren’t exactly sure why this is news considering Frances, the only child of Love and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, is 17 years old.

Does she really need a guardian? Apparently so because TMZ cites court documents saying Kurt Cobain’s mom, Wendy O’Connor, and his sister, Kimberly Dawn Cobain, are now legal guardians.

The only thing that might make sense is that the new guardians have custody of Frances, whose godfather is Michael Stipe of Athens-based band R.E.M., as well as her financials – but not the trust established after Kurt’s death.

Last night’s Season 4 “Dexter” finale apparently has blown the minds of many. The Showtime series remains a trending topic on Twitter and TV blogs are all abuzz.

The showdown between Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall) and Arthur Michell aka the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow) reached a climax (for those who have not yet seen it, we won’t spill the details − just check Twitter or Google). Most of the reaction leans toward “shocking”, “intense” and well, words we can’t print on this particular blog.

Lithgow is scheduled to do a live video chat today at 3 p.m. on ustream.com . Maybe he’ll get into the gory cliffhanging details – or maybe not.

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” is reportedly breaking box-office records for midnight showings.

Fueled by the sex appeal and tabloid photos of stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Patterson, the sophomore in the “Twilight” series pulled in just over $26 million in its first day.

That’s more than the previous midnight record, held by “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” with $22.2 million this year. “The Dark Knight” from 2008 pulled in $18.5 million.

The vampire flick made Atlantans blood-thirsty, too.  There were several early screenings this week, and one of the movie’s minor characters, Justine Wachsberger, showed up for a meet-and-greet (see photos).

Oprah Winfrey will end her talk show in 2011.  Her production company said the media powerhouse will make it official on Friday’s episode, according to reports.

For decades, her talk show has set the standard for TV. Until recently, her ratings were consistently strong (an appearance by Sarah Palin Monday boosted sluggish ratings, said the AJC’s Rodney Ho). She helped new talents like Tyra Banks, Dr. Oz, Rachel Ray and Dr. Phil start their own shows (though as a colleague reminded me, we aren’t sure what will happen to best friend Gayle King). There was also the resounding support for Pres. Barack Obama during his election bid.

Consistently one of the highest earning women in the world, Oprah turned living room book clubs into million-dollar ventures.

For Atlantans, she’s been even closer to home, by being close friends with Atlanta’s own movie maker Tyler Perry. Most recently the two went cross-country as producers and mega-watt promoters of the film “Precious,” starring …

Pop star Janet Jackson admits that she and Atlanta super producer Jermaine Dupri are just friends.

In a primetime interview Wednesday with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, she said, “I adore him. Love him to death.” In fact, Dupri, whom she dated for about seven years, was the one who taught her to love her … assets. She said he taught her that there’s nothing wrong with her body – curves and all (he just picked up some extra points with that move).

Speaking from her Malibu beach house looking amazingly beautiful in a winter white fitted dress, Jackson, 43, also spoke candidly about her family and brother Michael’s death in June.

“You have to accept what is, but it’s hard.” She said that the family tried interventions to stop Michael’s drug use several times but she felt like he was in denial.

She’s still soft-spoken and seemingly shy, admitting that she gets embarrassed when people stare at her. “I’m in the wrong business.”

Johnny Depp was named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine for the second time (he also won in 2003).

We know how dubious these honors can be, but it does give us an excuse to have a little fun.

As for Depp, we appreciate the actor’s laid-back sex appeal and brooding aura, but we’re left wondering should someone else top this list?

We can think of many, many, men who might qualify .. whew!

And yes, we know that there are several who should/could be on People’s list − and ours.

“Dancing with the Stars” contestant Aaron Carter owes the U.S. government more than $1 million in back taxes, according to documents obtained by EOnline.

The pop singer, and younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, reportedly has a bill dating back to 2003.

He was voted off “Dancing” last week, just shy of the semi-finals, and was visibly crushed. (Find out who made it to the finals show on Rodney Ho’s Radio/TV blog.)
