Teamwork, on and off the field! John Abraham tweeted this photo

The Falcons didn’t take a snow day today, but practice didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. Player Kroy Biermann had to pluck his colleague John Abraham from a snow bank not far from the team’s practice facility.

Abraham chronicled the ordeal on Twitter.

Abraham's caption for this photo was merely, "Damn." He quickly followed with a tweet saying, "I'm the passenger so I wasn't being unsafe trust me I gt kids ain't tryna go no where any time soon."

“Just got on 985; should be to work in 20 (minutes),” he tweeted about 9:45 a.m. That was quickly followed by “We literally just crashed two exits away.”

Never fear, though. Biermann came to the rescue. “LOL. Teamwork,” Abraham tweeted about 10:15 a.m.

Others made it in after some rough sledding.

Trekking through the snow to get to the facility with (Sean Weatherspoon),” player Michael Palmer tweeted about 8 a.m. ”This is crazy.”

A little later, Weatherspoon …

Curtis Lofton and D.J. Shockley, super smooth operators

Curtis Lofton and D.J. Shockley, super smooth operators

If Atlanta Falcons starting linebacker Curtis Lofton seems to be moving a little faster this season, he might have the folks at Blue Med Spa to thank.

He and former Falcons backup quarterback D.J. Shockley stopped by the luxurious Midtown getaway for a little laser hair removal action the other day.

We have it on good authority that their backs and chests are now smooth as babies’ behinds – and are surely extra aerodynamic as a result.

We asked if Blue Med Spa plans to offer any special new services, like a “Falcons Facial” perhaps, in honor of the guys’ recent visit. We’ll get back to you after they’ve tossed that one around for a while.

Ex-Falcon Warrick Dunn still helping Atlanta

dunnWarrick Dunn no longer plays football here, but his dedication to the Atlanta area remains strong.

His foundation, which provides homes to single moms and their kids, remains active here and in fact presented two local women, Barbara Murgerson and Tamaneka Butler, both moms of three, the keys to their new homes on Tuesday.

“I am in complete awe,” Murgerson said.

Our AJC colleague Alexis Stevens reports that Atlanta Falcons fans now have even more to love of tight end Tony Gonzalez and his wife, October.

After feasting our eyes on this photo, we see why.

It’s the latest ad in PETA’s “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign.

(More celebs get naked for PETA)

Yum!

Do sexy PETA ads affect whether you wear fur?

  • Yes
  • No
  • I’ll at least think about it

Falcons’ Chauncey Davis foundation hits home

chaunceyFalcons defensive end Chauncey Davis’ foundation promotes health and wellness, which seems pretty fitting for a pro athlete.

But the foundation’s focus on diabetes awareness, detection and prevention is a tribute to his mother.

“Diabetes personally impacted my life when my mother lost a leg due to complications associated with the disease,” he told us. “Now, I consider it my mission to increase awareness of diabetes and to promote healthy lifestyles for youth and young adults.”

At 9 a.m. today, DeKalb County Commissioner Lee May will recognize Davis and the foundation at a ceremony in the Manuel Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur.

“His hands-on work in Georgia serves as an example of the positive change one individual can make when they dedicate their time, energy and resources to any idea,” May said.
