NBC plans a reality show about a newspaper? Really?

The-Front-PageLewis-Milestone-1931“The-son-of-a-bitch-stole-my-watch”-This-is-the-final-line-of-the-great-1928-newspaper-comedy-by-Ben-Hecht-and-Charles-MacArthur-delivered-by-the-cynical-yellow-press-editor-Walter-BurnsLet me preface this blog with an apology.

It will probably not interest you, dear reader, who is just looking for the latest Kardashian update before dashing into a meeting, in the least.

A reality show about reporters? What, couldn’t they create a show about paint drying or grass growing?

But journalists find other journalists fascinating, in the way babies stare with unknowing wonder at each other. So this news bulletin first reported on Jim Romenesko’s Facebook page, the virtual water cooler where journalists hang out talking about other journalists, was too great to resist:

“NBC Peacock Productions … is planning a ‘documentary-style reality show’ about a small-town newspaper that’s ‘working hard to stay on top of breaking small-town news and keep financially afloat in an ever-increasing competitive.’ NBC Peacock wants to hear from newspaper bosses interested in being considered for the show. (The production company asks: ‘Is your team a real version of The Office meets ‘Parks and Recreation?’) If that’s you, email Peacock at smalltownnewspapersshow@gmail.com or call 212-664-2307.”

OMG. This is going to be awesome. Someone alert us when this premieres so we can be sure to catch it before it’s canceled.

True journalism died in 2008 when the media failed to properly vet our current marxist-in-chief. Newspapers are a dinosaur, walking on dead legs. This stupid concept will never get to air. NBC is a joke.

Gullible, desperate, self-promotional “journalists,” who will trip over one another to be first – instead of right – are my friends.

I enjoy the awesome primetime shows on NBC I just hope it’s one that I can enjoy on a weekly basis since that’s what I watch most. I hate working at night which means I don’t get to watch most of my shows until the next day. The good things I upgraded to the DISH Hopper DVR, which offers the option to get my four major networks recorded with PrimeTime Anytime feature on one TV. I upgraded as soon as it was available from my employer DISH. Now the wife and kids don’t have to be stuck watching recordings while my shows record. It’s made everyone happy and a great way to enhance your TV experience.
