“Last Vegas” filming vintage scene on Edgewood

LV“Last Vegas,” starring Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, Mary Steenburgen and Kevin Kline, is filming today in Atlanta.

The production has set up up shop along Edgewood. Looks like a scene set in an earlier era as evidenced by these retro wheels.

A number of the cast members have been spotted here and there. Most recently Kline stopped by the Lenox Square Bloomingdale’s to pick up a few essentials for his stay.

“Last Vegas” started out in Los Vegas and then headed to Atlanta. Since arriving here it has also filmed in Dunwoody, and will do a good bit of interior work at a local studio.

John Travolta “opens up” in “candid and revealing” interview

John Travolta sat down with Extra for an exclusive one-on-one interview billed as “candid and revealing.” It candidly reveals what a super guy he is and how much people love him.

“Anytime someone wants to acknowledge or celebrate me, I have no problem with that!” Travolta told Extra’s AJ Calloway at the Maryland Film Festival, where the actor received a lifetime achievement award.

He went on to reflect on his career’s “many golden experiences” and the two discussed how much Travolta is loved by both his former “Look Who’s Talking” co-star Kirstie Alley and his wife Kelly Preston. To reinforce how much his wife loves him, Preston appears on camera for a few moments for a smooch. Cute.

“You are one of the most romantic men on the planet,” the interviewer says, more statement than question. It’s true! Travolta took his wife to see Barbara Streisand for her birthday.

“On my birthday!” Preston shouts from off-camera to corroborate the romantic anecdote. Travolta added that he also …

Interview: Tony Danza discusses his year as a teacher, appears in Atlanta Saturday

A still from Tony Danza's short-lived A&E reality show about his year in the classroom. The show lasted just six weeks but Danza stayed for the entire year.

“Who’s the Boss?” was Tony Danza’s 1980s-’90s sitcom. It also could have been the title of his new memoir, about his year teaching English in a Philadelphia high school.

Instead called “I’d Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had: My Year as a Rookie Teacher at Northeast High, ” it depicts Danza as alternately at the mercy of a humorless assistant principal or his students, none of whom is impressed by his celebrity and some of whom actually tell him to grow a backbone (actually, that’s not the anatomy they tell him he needs).

“It was a tremendous challenge, ” said Danza, who will discuss his book at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Book Festival of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. “It takes a certain amount of hubris to think you can be a teacher.”

Danza’s journey to the front of the classroom started after his …

Sneak peek at the final “Twilight” movie

Edward and Bella are parents now

Edward and Bella are parents now

I got a chance to see an advance screening of the final “Twilight” movie last night. No spoilers, I promise!

I can tell you that Bella keeps her angst-ridden countenance even though she is a vampire now, Edward stands around looking pasty yet sensitive and Jacob takes off his shirt. (That’s not giving anything away, is it?) There’s lots of action and surprises in the finale. I literally heard people screaming at the screen last night. If you like this series you will love the finale.

I also got a chance to sit in with my buddies at the B 98.5 FM Morning Team when they interviewed Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper. Here’s the audio clip below.

Who’s excited to see the movie? Are you sad to see the series conclude?

Happy Wednesday. Here are some middle-of-the-week news and notes for you.

Keep your eyes peeled for Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Kevin Kline and Mary Steenburgen. They’re here filming “Last Vegas,” a CBS Films project due for a Christmas 2013 release.

Mr. Freeman posed for this nice picture that the Dunwoody Police Department just posted on its Facebook page with this caption: “Actor Morgan Freeman took a quick break to thank Dunwwody Officers for their assistance while he was in town filming ‘Last Vegas.’”

“Parental Guidance,” which filmed here last year, is coming out this Christmas. The movie stars Bette Midler and Billy Crystal along with Marisa Tomei and Bailee Madison. Looks like it will be cute.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is here filming the cop movie “Ten,” hit Midtown on Tuesday. He had lunch at Cucina Asellina and then checked out the “Fast Forward: Modern …

Jennifer’s on a set visit so I threw this into Buzz for her. Rodney

TMZ reports that Usher earlier this month put up his Roswell mansion up for sale for $3.2 million.

The 34-year-old R&B singer (”Yeah,” “More,” “U Got It Bad”) purchased the 12,544 square-foot home in March, 2007 for $3 million while married to his now ex Tameka Raymond.

I was able to confirm on realtor.com that it is indeed up for sale. It was built in 2004 on 4.25 acres and has eight bedrooms and 9.5 baths. There’s a four-car garage, four fireplaces, an exercise room, a media room and an outdoor pool. Annual property taxes are about $42,000.

TMZ said Raymond was allowed to stay in the home as part of the divorce agreement in 2009.

On set of Lifetime’s Anna Nicole Smith movie

Agnes Bruckner tweeted this photo of herself dolled up for her role as Anna Nicole Smith

Anna Nicole Smith’s life story will be explored in a new Lifetime movie that’s filming right now in Atlanta.

The small-screen project filmed at Chops today in Atlanta. The main dining room downstairs doesn’t do lunch on Mondays so no patrons were inconvenienced, but if you had lunch at the Lobster Bar upstairs you might have wondered what was with all the gear downstairs.

Agnes Bruckner portrays Smith, the adult-club entertainer turned model turned billionaire’s bride turned reality show star. She posted the photo of herself glammed up to look like Smith.

We were able to watch a little of the filming today. As with an earlier shoot at New York Prime, today’s scene involved Smith celebrating after a legal victory. Following the death of her tycoon husband J. Howard Marshall, Smith and her lawyer Howard K. Stern were tied up in litigation for years, seeking a chunk of her late husband’s …
