Area restaurants welcome Dawg and ‘Bama fans with drink/menu specials

So you couldn’t snag a ticket to the SEC championship, or didn’t feel like forking out a pile of cash to do so? Not to fear, Dawg or Tide fans. Here are some ideas for other places to cheer on your team, including some with specially themed game-day drink and menu items.

Do at the View (955 W. Marietta St., 404-541-9060, www.doattheview.com): The game will be broadcast on the restaurant’s super high-tech “electric wall.”

CineBistro at Town Brookhaven (1004 Town Blvd., 404-333-0740, http://cobbcinebistro.com/brookhaven): CineBistro, a major player in the new cuisine-screen arena, will broadcast the game while fans stretch out in their oversized, leather, high-back rocker chairs. Admission is free but tickets are limited to two per person. Seating begins at 3:30 p.m. and full food and drink service is available throughout the game. You must be 21; ID is required.

Del Frisco’s Grille (3376 Peachtree Road, 404-537-2828, www.delfriscosgrille.com): The new restaurant in front of the Mandarin Oriental Atlanta (formerly the Mansion) features a double-decker bar and patio where flat screen TVs will air the game. Mixologists have concocted a game-day libation, creatively named the Georgia Bulldog, with Jack Daniels, fresh peaches, local honey, lime juice and peach bitters.

The Drafting Table (349 Decatur Street, 404-343-2821, www.thedraftingtable.net): Televisions in the bar will air the game while the bar will serve up speciality cocktails including a concoction of vodka, Kahlua, milk and Coke with red food coloring for the UGA fans and Chipotle Bloody Marys for the ‘Bama crowd.

Shula’s (3405 Lenox Road NE, 404-848-7345, www.shulas347atlanta.com): Are you kidding? The restaurant named after the longtime, legendary Miami Dolphins coach will offer appetizer specials and will air the game on the wall. Not the screen – the wall.

Cypress Street Pint and Plate (817 West Peachtree Street NE, 404-815-9243, cypressbar.com) will air the game on all its television screens, while the bar will be serving up $5 “Red and Blacks,” which consist of an 11-ounce Red Brick Hoplanta draft with a Jager shot on the side.

Lucky’s Burger & Brew (1144 Alpharetta Street, Roswell, 770-518-5695, luckysburgerandbrew.com): Finish the drill! Then you’ll be ready for the Georgia Dawg Pounder, featuring a fried pimento cheese ball atop a 7-ounce burger, served with a spicy red pepper mayonnaise. The bar will be serving up $3 Bulldawg or Alabama Slammer shots, and if you show up tricked out in UGA, Alabama or Atlanta Falcons gear they’ll give you a free pitcher of PBR.

Twisted Taco Roswell (1570 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Roswell, 770-407-7014, www.twistedtaco.com): Dawg fans, this one is not for you. Twisted Taco’s Roswell location is Crimson Tide country. Watch the game on the big screen while enjoying ‘Bama-themed specials including $6.50 “Crimsonritas,” $5 fireball shots and $8 “Bama Twisted Brew Cups.”

What about the Pink Pony and Cheetah? I hear the screens and view are lovely there as well!
