Actor Jamie Foxx hailed President Barack Obama as “our Lord and savior” at the Soul Train Awards, which aired over the weekend but was taped in Las Vegas shortly after the 2012 election.
“It’s like church in here. First of all, giving honor to God, and our Lord and savior, Barack Obama,” he said to the jubilant crowd. Amid their thundering cheers he repeated, “Barack Obama! Y’all stand up!”
Foxx’s adulation is making the rounds on the blogosphere and on talk radio, and prompted a response from the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights in the United States.
“Foxx’s epiphany is startling,” league president Bill Donahue said in a statement. “It just goes to show that even though Obama did not succeed in stopping the oceans from rising (as he promised to do in 2008), he did succeed in convincing Jamie Foxx, and no doubt legions of others, that God exists. Whether God can survive an ACLU lawsuit accusing him of violating church and state grounds remains to be seen.”
Here’s a video clip of Foxx’s remarks:

South Red and you also agreed with this stupid comment that Blackman said
I feel bad for “my people.” They would willingly follow the Anti-Christ – if he were black and a democrat. That statement is so Un-Christian and racist that it didn’t even deserve a response and you had the nerve to say AMEN behind that. COME ON MAN.

That is also crazy to call the president the anti-christ and you don’t have a clue what relationship the president have with God. Trust me when the Anti-Christ come you will know and you want have to speculate who he is. Read the book of Revelation.

“Most of the people who voted for Barack Obama did so because he was a man of color and because of the liberal, “progressive” views of the party he represents – not because of the moral man he is, not because of what he contributed to this country in his first term. They just didn’t care to look at the real issues. Jamie Foxx’s remarks were a reflection of who the majority of people of color think Barack Obama is..”
WOW, whe posted such ignorant comments? And I only use the word “ignorant” because obviously the belief that the majority of people voted for him because he’s black and liberal have no concept or history of how this country has voted for the past 20-30 years. And the asinine rhetoric that black folks only voted for President Obama because he’s black is tired. Majority of black folks have voted democrat since the 60’s when the Republican and Democratic Parties did a role reversal of sorts in their support of Civil Rights…so learn your history. What it boils down to is that the Republican Party has become the Party of the status quo or a return to archaic philosophies and lifesyles while the Democratic Party has become the more progressive party.

TO SICKENING – MY NAME “PEACE’ IS VERY APPROPRIATE – AND SO IS YOURS. BEFORE YOUR AND SOUTHRED CONTINUE YOUR RANTS ON BLACK PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE PLEASE STUDY THE STATISTICS ON WHICH RACE RECEIVES MORE GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE – THAT WOULD BE WHITE PEOPLE. ALSO, ONE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A SLAVE OWNER, NOR A DESCENDANTS OF ONE TO HAVE A SLAVE-OWNER’S MENTALITY. JUST REALIZE OTHER COUNTRIES THAT HATE AMERICA ARE WATCHING THIS FIASCO OF RACIAL DIVIDE TAKING PLACE HERE. DID IT EVER OCCUR TO ANY OF YOU THAT THEY ARE LISTENING AND SEE THIS INTERNAL DISSIDENCE AS AN OPPORTUNITY? THEY’RE POSSIBLY THINKING THERE’S NO NEED FOR A 911, AMERICA IS ON ITS WAY TO SELF-DESTRUCTION FROM ALL OF THE INTERNAL FIGHTING.
…..BY THE WAY, DID I EVER STATE THAT I WAS BLACK? NO I DIDN’T AND I WON’T STATE MY RACE BECAUSE IT IS OF NO IMPORTANCE. I AM AN AMERICAN WHO IS HOPING AND PRAYING FOR UNITY AND “PEACE”

Brown Eyed Girl – As one brown eyed girl to another, true his remarks haven’t hurt me at all – but it is those kinds of remarks in combination of some of other remarks and events of the world that concern me – that too many are saying “It doesn’t matter” But, it does matter if folks believe or even start to believe that some “one” is Lord and Savior besides Jesus Christ. I have family members that have thrown their religious values out the window by justifying it all in the name of politics and progression. I guess that seeing that happen in my family was a real wake up call for me.

SouthRed, I completely understand what you are saying, but you have to understand something…you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink! You are not responsible for what your family members have done. The most you can do for them is pray and move on. Each one of us is responsible for what we know to be true and we will be judged based on that. You just need to make sure YOUR calling and election is sure. God will deal with each one of us accordingly. Just remember one thing. David was a murdered and an adulterer among other things, but was considered a man after God’s own heart. Nathan called him out on his sin, but, God knew him better than his peers and He blessed him! You plant the seeds with your family members and let the Holy Spirit do the cultivating!

I saw this on Fox News. He’s a comedian! It was part of his act. And conservatives jumped all over it. Of course, that’s the only clip of that act that they would show. He was doing it to make the conservatives have a hissy fit. And of course, they took the bait! I mean, how else was Jamie Foxx going to get on Fox News?! LOL!!!

This has been taken out of context. He said “It’s like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God, and our Lord and savior, Barack Obama”. The first part of the statement is common in the church and then he added the President. I think they left out the and. He not calling The President our Lord and Savior?

There has never been a President that has intentionally created so much division among Americans, including Lincoln starting a civil war. We are at a point where no black public figure can even be questioned without it immediately being called racism. That’s what the liberal medias agenda is and this administration is using it every chance they get!

Everyone needs to take a collective step back and remember that Jamie Foxx is a comedian. Comedian’s say inappropriate things all of the time in the name of comedy and to get a laugh. If you put all of your “racist” views aside and focus on the “funny” then you can laugh and move on. I think everyone is quick to jump on anything “Obama” right now because this is what allows us for vent our frustrations about having a BLACK President without otherwise seeming to be “racist.” ” It has nothing to do with his color, I just think he’s a bad President!” And if that were true, then why weren’t people as vocal about George W. Bush’s inability to lead our country in the right direction??? Could it be because he’s WHITE?!!! Ignorance comes in all shapes and sizes……and colors as well. Only the Truth can set you free!!!

Jesus The (Christ) means messiah, saviour, where all of our salvation come from, the one who went on the cross and was brutually beaten for all the sins of mankind just because God loves us that much, even jamie foxx, and the president obama. The statement that if his intentions was to be a joke,it was’nt, There is never a joke when it comes to Jesus Christ and what he did for us.I pray that jamie foxx realizes that this comment not only offended those who believes in Jesus but it also offends God who sent him. These are the last days, and people better get ready, the Bible ain’t no J.O.K.E

To tolerate this kind of blasphemy is why this nation has fallen so low. Obama himself claimed we are no longer a Christian nation. The fact that he is still our president is proof that he is right. Christians need to unite and take a stand for God and stop accepting intolerable acts such as this as good fun. If someone disrespects your mother, you would be ready to stand up for her. All you morons who want to say it’s just a joke take into consideration how offensive this is to someone who is actually a believer in God. Hell, even take into consideration how offensive this is to someone who rejects the notion of deifying a leader and making him out to be a super human. This is a symptom of the cult of personality on the left that existed in Nazi Germany and elsewhere when vile dictators rise to power and do horrible things to humanity. WAKE THE F UP.

It is so funny to go through and read all these comments, not that I wasted my time reading them all. The ones that you can tell don’t like Obama and the ones that keep saying it’s a joke. LOL, or that “they are a joke” I think the funniest part is that all the people that are upset about it are immature and need to grow up and stop taking things so personal. It only bothers you because you personalize it. Not our problem, Not Mr. Foxxs problem and certainly not Pres. Obamas problem, it is your problem. So please let it go! If you’re so into God then surrender your pain to Him! Know the truth! Oh and if you’re mad about Obama winning, I’m sorry, but the system is set up for the people to decide, and majority wins. Looks like that’s what happened. :-/ He is still the president and we should always be praying for him as we were instructed by Christ to pray for our leaders, even if we don’t agree with them. Be thankful that you live in this country and they still let us say what we want to say! Instead of bashing everything and everyone. Be thankful. You’re very blessed!

I’m an independent businessperson who supported Obama (and no, I didn’t get a “gift”) but this was one of the dumber statements of the year. Getting caught up in your enthusiasm is one thing, but he should have exercised some common sense before making a blasphemous statement sure to offend and enrage millions. That said – sure, Foxx was an idiot – but it’d be refreshing to see a tad less hate from the so-called Christ followers. There’s a way to state your anger at his comment without the venom at people who don’t share your political views.

The perfect example of taking a clip out of context and running with it. Here are the facts. The election was on Tuesday, Nov 6, 2012. The Soul Train Music Awards was taped on Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov 8, 2012. There were still very high emotions regarding the election on the day of the taping. Jamie Foxx is a comedian, and on occasion incorporates current events in his act.
Furthermore, with what RomDogBillioniare might have proposed had he been elected, President Obama, may be seen as lord and savior to many. LOL!
Writing in this space was actually a waste of energy, however, enjoyable and laughable.

Not sure if you Bible “thumpers” know this or not, but there is this awesome thing called the New Testament, it’s where Jesus came to fulfill the law and destroyed the old covenant making a new one with grace…yeah that’s the one we live under now. That, God, the real Jehovah, if you will, is not wrathful! He is full of LOVE, GRACE, MERCY, and JOY. He loves you as much as He loves Jamie Foxx and Barack Obama, and everyone else. His love is never ending. So stop preaching false doctrine on here or anywhere please, you’re only doing yourself a disservice. The presidents name sounds very similar to an ancient Hebrew word btw. http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/27_bless.html

While it might have been a joke the sheer euphoria that is displayed is creepy. For all of Obama’s political skills he’s just a politician. A very savvy and effective practitioner of politics. He’s just passing through and one day he’ll be out touting a book and his presidential library and having parties for all his Hollywood friends. If Foxx really meant it then that’s his business but the problem people have with it is the near worship of a guy that is just someone that leads a political party. From the songs about him by little school children to murals of him on a cross with a crown on his head. It’s just a bit over the top for most people. We’re not building a 90 foot tower of solid gold to Obama are we?

I didn’t get that impression of what Jamie said as labeling President Obama as his Lord and Savior. I really thought he meant “Giving honor to GOD,(as) our Lord and Savior and President Obama”. Because he was so excited he came out of his mouth wrong. I don’t know Jamie Foxx personally but if you ever heard him give his testimony about his life and how he grew up then you would know that he doesn’t think that President Obama is the reason he(Jamie) has made so many accomplishments. Lighten up people. Giving honor to GOD my Lord and Savior.

Its blasphemy period. Joking about my Lord and Savior is not acceptable. God being subjected to a joke even remotely being grouped with the face of the Culture of Death is sickening and offensive. Anyone who supports the dismembering or skull criushing of millions of unborn children in their own mother’s womb is not even worthy of mentioning his name in the same breathe as my God….joke or not.
