Actor Jamie Foxx hailed President Barack Obama as “our Lord and savior” at the Soul Train Awards, which aired over the weekend but was taped in Las Vegas shortly after the 2012 election.
“It’s like church in here. First of all, giving honor to God, and our Lord and savior, Barack Obama,” he said to the jubilant crowd. Amid their thundering cheers he repeated, “Barack Obama! Y’all stand up!”
Foxx’s adulation is making the rounds on the blogosphere and on talk radio, and prompted a response from the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights in the United States.
“Foxx’s epiphany is startling,” league president Bill Donahue said in a statement. “It just goes to show that even though Obama did not succeed in stopping the oceans from rising (as he promised to do in 2008), he did succeed in convincing Jamie Foxx, and no doubt legions of others, that God exists. Whether God can survive an ACLU lawsuit accusing him of violating church and state grounds remains to be seen.”
Here’s a video clip of Foxx’s remarks:

Lady (I use that word comedically, much like Foxx, because i don’t think you are one), you have got to be kidding! You people grasping to take shots at a comedian, who was actually making fun of Blacks, satirically, for their over the top adulation of Obama, need help! You people are really sick! I say this because I think with your college education and your ability to reason, you know full well what Foxx was doing, just as those in the audience.

Pi Mae – it is exactly your apathetic attitude about Christianity that has contributed to the decay of this country. You sound like one of those Christians who don’t have the guts to speak up about what is morally RIGHT and what is WRONG! Are you standing up for JESUS? No, you just let it slide. Are you speaking up for YOUR Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? No! Most of the people who voted for Barack Obama did so because he was a man of color and because of the liberal, “progressive” views of the party he represents – not because of the moral man he is, not because of what he contributed to this country in his first term. They just didn’t care to look at the real issues. Jamie Foxx’s remarks were a reflection of who the majority of people of color think Barack Obama is. It was not a joke, it is real. Wake up folks! If you are Christian, stand up for YOUR Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST.

Peace – that’s an interesting name. No – actually I’m reminded EVERY SINGLE DAY how “angry” you all are – even though all of this happened hundreds of years before any of our time. I have many black friends and none of them act like the majority of you – which is you feel like you are “OWED” something. Get over yourself. Why don’t you look at the statistics of who commits more violent crime – young black males. Personally, that makes me sad. Their mothers are having children when they have no business doing so, because they are just thrown away in society.

Which part of obama is god jamie??? the white part of the black??? When obama made it in 2008 do you know how many blacks were out of work…14.3%. Do you know how many blacks are out of work now 4 years later….14.3%. Go ahead and worship this person. You and other blacks who are racist are destroying your own race. The mexicans will overrun you and are already getting your free stuff. So watch out and see if this god helps your race. Comments like that one keeps AMERICA a racist nation.

I can’t believe this actually made the news and how it was so misconstrued or interpreted. For the majority of folks who actually watched it or even if you didn’t and are familiar with Jamie Foxx, you would clearly realize it was a joke! And the irony with all of it is that he was making a mockery in some regards of how some black folks hold President Obama in such high regards, you would think he was their Lord and Savior.

I believe he was targeted because he was too big of a threat to this administrations agenda. South Red you should be ashamed of yourself because you don ‘t know the relationship J. Foxx have with God if any at all, but you’re condemning people and you don’t have the power or the authority to do so. So call standing up for Jesus don’t mean bashing people when they make a mistake, it means loving and praying for people when they are in error, because by the way you are talking now you are in error alot. If a man is overtaken in a fault, pray for such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself.

Wow do people have a life? All these people judging what another person said at an award show, doesn’t the bible talk about judging people. Just say guilty. Why do we always have something to say when people don’t think like we think? Doesn’t that make us prejudice as well? just say guilty.
We don’t care about anybody but ourselves? We want to talk about black and white, democrat and republican, what the president is doing or what he is not. Well what are you doing to change the world? Did you feed a homeless person? Did you look for a job because there are now hiring signs everywhere? Did you read a book? Help an old person? If we start the attitude change with the person in the mirror then you might not have so much time to complain! If you want things to change then don’t wait for someone else to do it.Get off your behind and make it happen for yourself. It’s easy to judge when you aren’t in someone elses shoes.

To those that keep reminding us that Jamie Foxx is a comedian and that we’re being too sensitive….may I suggest next time I dare Jamie to come out on stage and make some Muhammad jokes. Wouldn’t that be cool? So what would you say if Robin Williams came on stage wearing a KKK hood? What would you say if Eddie Murphy cracked some dead Matthew Sheppard jokes? What you say if Jeff Foxworthy made some Auschwitz jokes? Respect doesn’t have a double standard.

I’m surprised that there is so much hatred in your hearts. I guess people have been hiding their hatred (racism) for years. But now that we have a president whose skin is darker than the “good ole boy” skin, but is of mixed race (white mother), it seems that people can’t hold it in any longer. I’m truly sorry for you because it’s apparent that you do not have God in your life. Because if you did, your hearts would not be filled with so much hatred. Ask God to cleanse your heart. Ask Him that if there’s anything in you that is not in Him to take it out. You need to do that NOW.

For you lunkhead racist bigots. You and Jamie Foxx. How dare you vote for or adore a man just because he is black. You show your ignorance every day. Voting in a crook congressman in Illinois, voting in a crook sheriff in Georgia who has 32 felony charges awaiting him in court. You wonder why people think you should not vote. It is because you do not think. If you did you would not put this half white, half African in office. He is not your savior. You should have to earn your right to vote by voting with intelligence. I say this, Romney was correct, but it should be 47% voted for Obama for what he could give them. The other 6% that voted for Obama did so because they felt they owed something to the black race. They voted because they thought the sins of their fathers or should I say great, great grandfathers who either had slaves or supported segregation of the races was bad. Maybe it was bad but that is no reason to support a bumbling fool. Voting for Obama is like voting for Tiny Tim. For those that knew him, he too was a bumbling fool but became famous and rich because he COULD NOT SING. Think about the irony. As to “Too Smart 4 da South”…Delta is ready if you are. You are the smell we have down here. Go back where you want to go just do not stay here.

PI Mae – are you forgetting Jesus and the money changers in the temple? He stood up and took action for RIGHT and WRONG. I am saying don’t be apathetic with your faith – I did not judge anyone’s soul – only their actions against God. God asks us to act as his hands and feet also and if you ignore the world are you doing his will? William – I don’t watch that crap either – for exactly the reasons you state. Too many people believe anything said as a joke or in a sitcom is just that. Do they realize how it dulls our sense of morality to see this stuff week after week, hour after hour? How it is educating our children, our future? All of this is not just Jamie Foxx or Barack Obama – but part of a bigger problem that we have turned a blind eye to in the name of progression.

SouthRed, the problem is not that television is desenitizing our morality, it’s that people of faith like myself and (assume) you haven’t done a good enough job being an example of our faith and why we should have morals. Instead, we allow politicians and special interests groups to hijack our faith and make a mockery of it. We also spend more time condemning and criticizing from afar, instead of evangelizing face to face. Do you really expect people to follow and listen to Christians who pick and choose which morals to throw in people’s faces?? We’ve got to do a better job of being consistent and showing unconditional love for ALL people.

Real Christians, it is time to stand up for righteousness and show the world how to love one another and how to love our enemies who despitefully try to use us. We know that the battle is not ours but its the Lord’s battle. We know that the prayers of the righteous availeth much. So don’t get suck in by this country’s hatred, be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, proving what is that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.
