Details on actor Sam Worthington’s arrest

Actor Sam Worthington, who is in Atlanta to film “Ten,” a cop-themed movie, came into contact with some of Atlanta’s finest over the weekend. It was not a friendly meeting.

According to an Atlanta Police Department incident report, an officer responded at 10 p.m. Saturday night to a call that a security guard at the Vortex at 878 Peachtree St. had pepper-sprayed someone. That someone turned out to be Worthington.

Here’s what happened:

The security officer told the police officer “that while he was on duty at the Vortex he observed (Worthington) walking on the sidewalk. (Worthington) appearing falling off-balance while he was walking toward the Vortex restaurant.”

The security officer, observing that Worthington appeared “highly intoxicated,” told him he could not enter the Vortex, the APD incident report said. Worthington evidently did not take that news well. The security officer said Worthington “was being disorderly verbally by using profane language,” the incident report said. The security officer also said Worthington pushed him with his hands, and responded by pepper spraying him and cuffing him until police arrived, the report said.

A witness interviewed by the responding officer backed up the security guard’s account. The police officer reported that Worthington was treated by a paramedic, but that there were no other injuries. The Atlanta City Jail said that Worthington was released Sunday morning after paying a $453 cash bond.

Looks like another want to be cop decided to take matters into his own hands. Leave people alone. I’m sure The Vortex appreciates taking famous people from their business. Jack asses.

Susan, couldn’t of said it better, WTH is the Vortex without its beer and drunken debauchery? Unless you count those tasty sweet potato fries (I know they’re not the best in the city…), which I might fight for drunk as well…

A person got drunk, made an a$$ out of themselves, so what – the charges were dropped anyways.

I’m less concerned that he was drunk or arrested than I am that he was trying to enter the Vortex…the epicenter of losers, both staff and clientele.

Please follow up and tell me this loser security guard was fired.
Your job is to handle situations professionally, don’t let things get out of hand, and don’t bring negative attention to your bar. You mainly just need to protect all the patrons in the bar from injury.
And you pepper-sprayed a drunk guy?
What is this security guard, a 90-lb weakling. How could he possibly let things get that out of hand?
Epic fail.

Just another day of brutality in the police state we call Atlanta. The City of Atlanta fuzz is deranged, they don’t bother with robbers, they’re too busy messing with the poor and helpless,, the winos and addicts. I am a drunk myself and have shot five time by the policy and beaten half to death. I was locked up for six months due to public drunkenness. The Dekalb County fuzz is no better either. I got harassed for wearing a political t-shirt once, DeKalb’s finest labeled me as “one uh them Hippie fellers,” so drunks and Hippies watch you back out there it can be dangerous even if your minding your own business.

Unbelievable

Why is everyone defending the actions of this drunk “white trash” man? He was “being disorderly verbally by using profane language” and ” pushed (the Security Officer) with his hands”. Must be Republicans who are commenting. Always putting down and critizing everyone else’s behavior but failing to see the fault of your own. Typical!

This is so typical of the police/rent a cop brutality taking place in ATL on a daily basis. I am one of these winos and drug addicts, I’ve experienced the brutality of this police force. I spent six month in Fulton County for drunkeness. I’ve been shot five times by the police and beaten half to death twice (always around Christmas time). I just got out of the city stockade two weeks ago. I see the police beating sick and helpless drug addicts as they lay on the ground foaming at the mouth.

They don’t bother with the robbers, they’re too busy messing with the poor and helpless. The Dekalb County fuzz is no better either. I was stopped on the street for wearing a jacket displaying my political and social beliefts and was labeled as “one uh them Hippie fellers.” SO, Hippie Fellers and Winos, watch out the Fulton County and Dekalb County Fuzz is not your friend.

On the positive side, at least he wasn’t behind the wheel of a car endangering other people.

Thank God they don’t let drunks into the Vortex! We musn’t let drunks tarnish the reputation of that fair establishment. Only the righteous shall tread over that hallowed ground! The wicked and vile shall not pass! He should be banished forever from Atlanta, nay, banish him from Georgia I say!
