“Hunger Games” star Josh Hutcherson checks out Atlanta haunted house

Josh Hutcherson made some scary new friends over the weekend.

Josh Hutcherson made some scary new friends over the weekend.

Josh Hutcherson, in Atlanta now to film the “Hunger Games” sequel “Catching Fire,” celebrated Halloween early at Atlanta’s Netherworld haunted house.

(Speaking of Netherworld, check out this awesome video of makeup artist Roy Wooley of SyFy “Face-Off” fame turning a beauty queen into a gargoyle. So cool).

Hutcherson, who plays the brave Peeta in the “Hunger Games” series, stopped by Netherworld on Saturday night with a number of “Catching Fire” crew members.

Reports our tipster:

“He was exceptionally nice, greeted Netherworld’s co-owner Billy Messina with a smile and a handshake and thanked them for taking good care of his group.”

Hutcherson & Co. were escorted in quickly so they would not detract from the ghouls and goblins.

Afterward we’re told Hutcherson and his buds were cheering and that he declared Netherworld to be the best haunted house ever.

“Catching Fire” has been filming at a number of Atlanta locations including the Atlanta History Center’s Swan House, the Marriott Marquis downtown and the Goat Farm Arts Center off Howell Mill Road. Wondering where Hutcherson’s fellow cast members have been hanging out in their downtime? Details here!

Where are they shooting in Atlanta? Most of Hunger was filmed in NC.

The first movie was filmed in NC. The sequel, “Catching Fire,” is filming here now. Locations include the Atlanta History Center, Goat Farm Arts Center and downtown. At the moment they are in Kirkwood.

Judy a film can be shot anywhere. The reason they are shooting in Georgia is probably because of the tax incentives Georgia gives filmmakers. Most movies are shot in multiple locations throughout the world because of the variety of landscapes and scenery needed for different scenes within one film.
