This weekend’s “Shop for Success” event benefiting Dress for Success Atlanta packs some serious star power: Supermodel and author Emme teams up with “Celebrity Apprentice” alumna Kelly Smith Beaty, whose Huffington Post essay on Atlanta reality shows set the blogosphere on fire a few months ago. Beaty, a metro Atlanta native, serves as vice president of marketing and communications for Dress for Success Worldwide. She will emcee the event, joined by headliner Emme and Fox 5 Atlanta anchor Lisa Rayam.

“Shop for Success” kicks off with a private VIP party from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at 261 19th Street, at Atlantic Station. The event features a luxury pop-up shop stocked with fall and winter looks by Atlanta designers and boutiques, a chic silent auction and raffle, a celebrity red carpet, spirits from Little Black Dress Vodka and Sinless Cocktails, cuisine from local chefs and the musical entertainment of DJ Blak Magic.

Complimentary valet parking is provided for all attendees, and corporate sponsors include Atlantic Station, Cbeyond and Verizon Wireless.

The fun continues Saturday, when Atlanta-based style experts from Style for Hire (a national network of personal stylists selected by company co-founder, Stacy London of TLC’s “What Not To Wear”)  will be on hand to offer style tips and wardrobe advice. The Saturday shopping and style event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday night VIP tickets are $100 each and proceeds benefit Dress for Success Atlanta, a private, non-profit organization. Dress for Success Atlanta provides business attire and career development tools to disadvantaged women. For Friday night VIP tickets and more information see the web site.

The term “supermodel” has been thrown around too often, but Emme was a huge success, especially since she was the first plus-sized model to win that much acclaim. I would gather that most people know her name and know who she is.
