Spanx founder Sara Blakely to guest DJ on B 98.5

vikiSpanx founder Sara Blakely will join B 98.5 FM Morning Show host Vikki Locke from 7 to 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

Since her on-air companion Kelly Stevens is out for a while, recovering from serious injuries he suffered in a head-on collision on Georgia 400, Locke and Morning Show producer Jessica Forkel have reached out to welcome guest co-hosts. Longtime Channel 2 anchor Monica Pearson joined them the other day and was in the studio when Kelly proposed to his girlfriend Katie!

On Thursday Sara will discuss her business prowess and fashion savvy among other topics. Earlier this year, Forbes magazine announced that she had become the youngest woman on its “billionaires” list.

Sara received a very special gift from her BFF and fellow billionaire Oprah Winfrey when she “joined the club.” Tune in Thursday to find out what it was!

I wonder if she’ll acknowledge that, according to the president of this country, she “didn’t make her company”.

Spanky…showing your ignorance…It’s a joke to see Clinton’s record promoted as having generated a surplus. It never happened. There was never a surplus and the facts support that position. In fact, far from a $360 billion reduction in the national debt, there was an increase of $281 billion. Clinton did not achieve a surplus and he didn’t leave President Bush with a surplus. Understanding what happened requires understanding two simple concepts of what makes up the national debt. The national debt is made up of public debt and intragovernmental holdings. The public debt is debt held by the public, normally including things such as treasury bills, savings bonds, and other instruments the public can purchase from the government. When it is claimed that Clinton paid down the national debt, that is patently false, the national debt went up every single year. What Clinton did do was pay down the public debt by borrowing money in the form of intragovernmental holdings (mostly Social Security).

@AtlantaNative…FactChecks.Org even under accrual accounting, the annual reports showed surpluses of $69.2 billion in fiscal 1998, $76.9 billion in fiscal 1999, and $46 billion for fiscal year 2000. So even if the government had been using that form of accounting the deficit would have been erased for those three years.

Bravo, Atlanta native. You are the one who is right! Some of the sheep don’t know and don’t want to take the time to find out about what is and has gone on. Being fair, I also blame Congress and not just liberals.
As for those of us that some think live at public expense because we draw a Social Security check each month, I would remind them that we are drawing a portion of the money we put in. We will never draw what we should, due to the fact that our government has not paid back loans made from the SS fund, a “trust” fund if you will, and there is no way this can be called living with public or taxpayer money.
If this shell of a man is re-elected, one day these sheep will wake up and it will be way too late. It is OK to question Romney’s remarks on this new tape released by the grandson of the worst Governor and President we have ever had up until now, but don’t question all the lies and insults that have come from our now President, such as bowing to the Egyptian Muslim King but not the English Queen. Our president should not bow to anyone except out of respect. Therefore, the reason Mr. Obama has bowed to who he has bowed to.
Wake up people. Bash away liberals.

Thurston …The only debt that matters is the total national debt. You can have a surplus and a debt at the same time, but you can’t have a surplus if the amount of debt is going up each year. And the national debt went up every single year under Clinton. Had Clinton really had a surplus the national debt would have gone down. It didn’t go down precisely because Clinton had a deficit every single year. The U.S. Treasury’s historical record of the national debt verifies this. A balanced budget or a budget surplus is a great thing, but it’s only relevant if the budget surplus turns into a real surplus at the end of the fiscal year. In Clinton’s case, it never did.

This is info taken from the US Trasury website. This is for the Clinton years The colums are as follow:
Fiscal Year / Year Ending / Total Debt / Deficit

FY1993 09/30/1993 $4.411488 trillion
FY1994 09/30/1994 $4.692749 trillion $281.26 billion
FY1995 09/29/1995 $4.973982 trillion $281.23 billion
FY1996 09/30/1996 $5.224810 trillion $250.83 billion
FY1997 09/30/1997 $5.413146 trillion $188.34 billion
FY1998 09/30/1998 $5.526193 trillion $113.05 billion
FY1999 09/30/1999 $5.656270 trillion $130.08 billion
FY2000 09/29/2000 $5.674178 trillion $17.91 billion
FY2001 09/28/2001 $5.807463 trillion $133.29 billion

Now granted, I went to public schools but my math would tell me that if you run a surplus then your total debt would go down. However, the debt increased every year Clinton was president. So Spanky, if you are correct, where is the trillions that GWB was supposed to have inherited?

Granted Boys…It should be noted that even without the Social Security money the deficit did go down most years and came within $18 billion of being a completely balanced budget (down from $430 billion under Bush Sr). The expenditures most years increased only modestly as compared with Bush Sr and especially George W Bush. So for this Clinton and Congress during that time period should be commended. However, I agree, I see no way to call a $18 billion deficit a “surplus”. Also, After all, the money the government owes itself shouldn’t count, right?

ConcernedAmerican

THR, I will agree with you that the deficit and the debt grew too much under Bush (both of them). While Clinton did an admirable job (relativley speaking) with the finances, I would have to give more credit to Speaker Gingrich than Clinton. While he may have personal baggage, be more gaffe prone than Biden, I think that Gingrich excelled as speaker and Clinton took a little too much credit. I really think that Clinton rode to his accolades on the coat tails of Gingirch.

ConcernedAmerican

You better believe it does count. The SS lent the money to pay down the public debt. There are several trillion dollars worth of US trasury securities that the SS dept owns in its reserves. When SS starts to dwinldle down and need to cash these in to pay for the benefits of retirees it will need to cash these intruments in. The governemnt will owe itself this principal and interest. Problem is that money was spent long ago with clinto paying down the public debt. Where will it come from? And yes, it should count. Tell that to the retirees. Many who voted for Clinton and hold him up on the pedestal is on today.

I started my companies and own them with zero debt. I worked my tail off to get where I am. That said, I smile with pride when I leave my Inman Park home and get into my brand new SUV or new convertable.
For those Dem’s looking for a free-ride; eat cake, jackasses. If you want what I have, work for it. Obama bent you idiots over, and like prison inmates, you are begging to be a**-pounded again. What a bunch of total dolts.
You are getting what you deserve while the rest of us laugh all the way to the bank. Oh, by the way, my $87,000.00 new SUV was 100% depreciated and taken off my taxes owed thanks to Obama. That dumbass accelerated the deduction schedule that Bush had in place. See, you fools didn’t even know that he is helping the top earners even more than the Republicans did. You inbreed a**holes need to read more instead of hoping for hand-outs from that nappy-headed ho.

Man you guys are viscious. No wonder we can’t get anything done in this country. Of course, talk is cheap and the last president to leave with a surplus was that guy you hated almost as much as Obama, Clinton. And the biggest mess was left by Bush. You’re never successful on your own–you couldn’t survive unless we ALL pay for roads, and police, and fire, and clean water, and clean air, and safe food, and schools, and prisons, and hospitals and the military. I’ve worked for the past 30 years and own my home and my raised my children. I can admit I help others and others help me. Why is it sooo hard for your admit you’ve taken from the general welfare and you’re obligated to contribute to it?
