Veteran broadcast journalist Katie Couric launches her new show on Monday, and Aimee Copeland will be among the guests during the show’s first week.
“Katie,” which will air at 3 p.m. weekdays on Channel 2, will cover a broad range of topics, including people in the news, authors, celebrities and health issues. In the video clip above, Channel 2 anchor Jovita Moore sits down with Couric and gives viewers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at preparation for the show.
Couric visited over the summer to promote “Katie,” and the station is excited she is joining the daytime lineup.
“When Katie visited Atlanta and WSB-TV in July, it was amazing how she connected with guests at a luncheon with local business leaders,” said Tim McVay, vice president and general manager of Channel 2 WSB-TV. “I am convinced you will see that same kind of connection with the guests and viewers of her show.”
Here’s a look at the planned topics the first week’s episodes will feature.
Monday: Couric welcomes actress and singer Jessica Simpson, who will discuss juggling her career and motherhood and losing that baby weight. Singer Sheryl Crow also will make an appearance along with “some familiar TV faces and plenty of surprises.”

Couric also will kick off her “You Only Live Once” feature by strapping in with racecar driver Danica Patrick.Wednesday: In a candid conversation, “Project Runway” star Heidi Klum joins Couric to discuss modeling, motherhood and her upcoming divorce from singer Seal.
